魔法先生 ネギま!Chapter 352 (Image)

Here’s what I know many of you have been waiting for — the original-sized, sneak-peek SPOILER images for Mahou Sensei Negima! Chapter 352 as brought to you by anonymous Japanese fans (click pic to make bigger, y’all).

OK, I’m going to say that I’m now starting to strongly feel that there won’t be a sequel manga, but we’ll see.

Update: Another spoiler.

Akamatsu-sensei COULD do a J-Comi Negima! series to fill in the gaps, but is giving the printed manga version a rest.  However, I’m gut-checking here and frankly, I think Akamatsu-sensei is going to drop out for a while and take a long rest.  I heard something about him getting sick, but whether true or not, I don’t know (I don’t think it was too serious).

Update: Oh smeg!

No, seriously Akamatsu-sensei. What kind of complete and total mind-frell are you doing to us? *_*

Oh darn would ya look at that. Ah well, the chapter looks interesting nonetheless.

  2. AstroNerdBoy says:

I think I should add a “not funny” check box, but I just don’t have the time to see how to do that now. *_*

  3. FrostyMouse says:

    Thanks for the pics, but…

    It’s really such a strange ending…

I don’t understand Akamatsu’s doing here. Unless, he’s just screwing with us and it’s not ending at all, and this is just a dream that Asuna’s having.

  4. Michaelf1993 says:

    …That’s….that’s just depressing.

  5. Arabesque says:

I was going to go to sleep, but now … I have no idea how to feel about this. I enjoyed the previous mini arc because I thought that there was going to be a bigger one in the making and that was a chance to let off some steam and one last hi jinx before the final boss fight but now …

    So so far:

-Negi is dead (so much for him being immortal and not aging … or not having kids or for that matter waiting lol)
-Konoka & Setsuna have decedents … how? Magic I suppose lol
-Is that Yue and Nadoka in the space suits? I suppose Virgin Galaxy took off somewhere during the 2020’s rofl

I’m sorry if that came of cheeky, but I’m annoyed at the moment. I’m not going to say that I feel cheated, because no one forced me to invest and buy this series, and I don’t think that KenAka owes me anything to give me what I wanted to see (it’s his story afterall) but at the same time … I just can’t be feel like I was just punched in the gut.

I mean, I began reading this manga ’07, so I’m not the same as ye older veterans, but … I still loved this manga. I really loved the cast for the most part, really enjoyed both the seriousness and whacky nature of the story, really loved the art … this was something of a favorite of mine. Sure I wasn’t a huge fan, but I still made sure to check every Negima! related product and attempt to get it (sans the first anime :P)

But now … I mean ”Asuna goes to the future, finds out the entire cast is dead, all loose ends and plot lines resolved off screen, 3 chapters and that’s it guys!” … I mean, really?

I don’t mind if he wanted to give us a mind fu*k, but I wanted it to be well set up, I wanted it to be a satisfying pay off …

    I don’t know what to think …

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      >-Konoka & Setsuna have decedents … how? Magic I suppose lol

Assuming that’s an actual depiction of their children, Konoka and Setsuna could have taken husbands, cloned themselves, or whatever (illusion copies of themselves maybe?).

Otherwise, I hear ya. I never expected something like this from Akamatsu-sensei at all.

I can see it now…”Hitler Reacts to Negima End” XD….Seriously though, these past few chapters made me cry so much. If this isn’t a dream, I want to see what happened to Negi. That grave nearly made me throw my computer on the floor… And yet some websites have the nerve to call Negima a simple harem/ecchi…. I would really like to see another big arc before this series ends- I mean, there are still so many loose ends. I can’t live with this ending, I just can’t…….please let this be Asuna’s dream. 🙁

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I’ve never understood the idea that Negima! was just an ecchi-harem series. Early on, Del Rey thought that, hence Peter David’s jacking of the series, but after volume 3, all doubts should have been removed.

  9. Cube says:

    No. Just no. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  10. Anonymous says:

WTF!!! Man what ever Akamatsu-sensei is on give me two cause that stuff must be strong for him to write something as out of place as this.

  11. Brett says:

Are these pics entirely credible? That’s one heck of an abrupt ending. Poor Asuna.

If true, then Negi made it to 72 years before dying. Not bad . . . for the present era, but probably bad considering how advanced medicine would likely be in the 2060s.

Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if rumors of Negi’s 2065 death were greatly exaggerated. I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually shows up as an old man at the very end.

  12. Anonymous says:

Why are Konoka and Setsuna faces in the picture don’t show their eyes?

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Well, Konoka, Nodoka, Negi, Chachamaru, and Ayaka didn’t get eyes either. It may have made it easier for Akamatsu-sensei to make the characters appear older, or it may be a hint about something.

  13. Anonymous says:

i just felt being trolled by ken = =”

  14. Anonymous says:

So Ken Akamatsu does another time-skip which is of Asuna returning to mahora after being unsealed and see if everyone is still here after she says goodbye to her friends in chapter 351?

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

We don’t have enough details to know why she appeared above Mahora in the future, but I’m sure she was curious, especially since she has her memories, something that wasn’t supposed to happen.

  15. Knives says:

Now I’m depressed as if there were enough rumors about the end of the manga now that Asuna waking up in the future seeing pictures of their dead friends and Negi!?

I hope the author does not destroy his work, perhaps of any Chao can change things by sending Asuna the past.

WTF as Setsuna and Konoka had descendants? Science has advanced so much?
At least a couple worked though probably Natsumi and Kotaro should have been together too.

Judging from the photos the people petrified was healed.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      >WTF as Setsuna and Konoka had descendants? Science has advanced so much?

Or magic. Not sure that isn’t an image from the CE-world or something like. Heck, that other girl there could be Tsukuyomi. ^_~

  18. Shadow_s_Writer says:

OK people, cool off, let go of your hair, dry your eyes, and pay attention to the spoilers.

First of all, the spoiler were not release in order, and only small section of pages where shown. The picture of Negi’s grave occurres halfway through the chapter, not at the end where you expected it to be shown. The real last page is the one showing the arrival of Chao and Eva, a time traveller and the most powerful magic user, and this cause Asuna to smile. So what is going to happen, my guess is a another trip thought time, via Chao’s time machine.

Second, we also know that Negi will have children, since we know Chao is his descendent. and that so did many of the harem (those kids that look like certian girl, and my guess a descendent a another teacher?

Third, this is not the first manga that “stop” without resolution. And on occation they show up elsewhere (in another magazine) in a couple of weeks. (ANB remember No need of Tenchi.) And speaching of Tenchi there also the possiblity that that they may be changing format from manga, to short novel, new anima, or even live action TV show (Clove and Honey).

So “Don’t panic”, pack your towel, grab some peanuts, our copy of the “Hitchhikers Guild” and get read for wild trip.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Good points here. If this changes format, I’d go with it moving from Weekly Shounen Magazine to J-Comi, where for a fee, we’ll be able to read it in English and Japanese at the same time (meaning, it would be released as such on the same day). Akamatsu-sensei would have to have his work ready in advance for a trusted (and likely paid) translator to do the work, then release both simultaneously. Were that to happen, I’d join up, but I’d still want books released.

    Spoilers ahead.

    Asuna overslept by 30 years.

The woman with the parasol is Ayaka.

  21. junior says:

    Erm…

Am I missing something? Am I missing a “The End” in Japanese in one of the panels? Because I’m not getting why everyone’s talking as if this is the last chapter. We see Chao and Eva, suggesting that Asuna’s woken up 100 years later. And we see a Negi tombstone, suggesting that Negi died rather prematurely. It’s not entirely clear if Eva arrives after Asuna finds Negi’s tombstone, or if she shows it to Asuna. Chao mere presence suggests that a clear and obvious “out”. Chao already traveled through time once. What if Negi’s death is something that should be avoided, and Akamatsu is going to use Chao’s time travel ability to send Asuna (and presumably Chao) back when she belongs – i.e. supporting Negi?

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

No, this isn’t the last chapter. After 352, there will be a 2-week break for Akamatsu-sensei, followed by the final three chapters.

    • SetsunaAngel99 says:

I am kind of nervous. Wouldn’t dying and ending in 3 chapters be inconsequential? Because there is no resolution. I have loved these characters for 5 years ;(. There better be another spin off manga involving fixing this. The ending isn’t shaping to be good. Ken is pretty much doing what Toriyama was going to do to Goku, before the other sagas were written for ratings.

    • Anonymous says:

“final three chapters”…….WHY did I not hear of that before?! Time sure does fly…But, then again, I only started reading Negima in March 2010, so….(Man, I wish I had heard of it sooner.) 🙁
On an optimistic viewpoint, I can’t wait for what Akamatsu-sensei will make next. Will it be a spin-off(Not Mahora little girls, please), or an anime(a legit one), or another manga all together? Hmmmm…
Come to think of it, where/when can I FINALLY(no pun intended) watch the Negima Anime Final movie?! God, it’s been months…must I wait for the DVD release to be subbed or something? Not to be a brat or anything….

  22. junior says:

Oh… *now* I see the post below this one. 😛

Either way, I think people are jumping the gun here. As I said, Chao’s presence means that time travel is a possibility, and Asuna and Chao are both likely to travel back to the past very soon.

  23. Anonymous says:

I get it, Asuna will be traveling back with Chao Time machine and met again with everyone

  24. Anonymous says:

hmmm maybe negi is not really dead…but this grave is kinda an official statement for public that negi died as it would be complicated in politics that he is immortal… so they gave the offical info that he is dead while he can live normaly somwhere… maybe he was there when 100years passed… but asuna was not waking up… now it seems aditional 30y passed (so she slept for 130years) and he was simply not there

time will tell but this is just bad writing from ken ! no shiori…no “what happened to arika” who is gravemaster and much more… its so full of holes that its hard to call it even cheese…

  25. No way. Just… no way. He can’t just end it with some tragedy like this. There’s too much story left to tell, plus it’s just not like him to do that. But a 100-year time skip, and this? I feel like I’ve been punched in the gut. These last chapters are looking to be a Cerebus Ending. I hope that Akamatsu-sensei isn’t truly ending the Negima story, and will continue it in a sequel series.

  26. Anonymous says:

You cannot accept this final? Made your DJ as you can! 🙂

  27. Ultimaniac says:

Ayaka as an old woman! Stan’s alive! Yue and Nodoka are hot! Konoka and Setsuna are…taller!(?)

Okay, after the initial shock of Negi’s tombstone passed and critical thought processes started working again, I’m not too worried anymore. Actually, I’m still worried, but in a different way. Like Shadow_s_Writer pointed out, things change when you put the pages in order.

The way I see it assuming all these pages are from the same chapter, Asuna wakes up and meets old lady Ayaka. She wants to see Negi and somehow that leads to this little girl showing her the gravestone(Something like, “I heard he was a very important person to my ‘heeheehee grandma.'”). After a shock, she’s shown the pictures of everybody. The last picture she sees is the one with older Negi which causes her to break down and start missing them, “I want to see them all one more time!” Then In comes Chao and Eva, possibly with a time machine so she can go back and meet with everyone.

    *sigh*

  28. Rhonin the wizard says:

Anyone else remember Rakan’s words on how “Negi is the kind of protagonist that dies three chapters before the end”?

Good news is that now we know the day Negi was born 2 May 1993. And an interesting thing the toobstone has the dates like in America, but Negi is from Great Britain.

  29. Mariuk says:

Some considerations on the spoiler images: first of all – older characters without the face I think stands for Asuna having blurred memory of people – she can’t visualize her friend in adult form.
Second – the images of a wrecked Mahora gave me the impression that the future Asuna wakes up in went wrong: if it’s the case than the Chao we see on the last panel is our real Chao. This theory could be proven by the fact that Negi failed in his task and died (MoTB? Fight with his father? Something gone wrong with ME?) so he didn’t manage to change the future.
So Asuna will go back to the past, of course, but at what point? I’m pretty much sure that the key point here is Chao Lingshen’s “tragedy” that she wanted to stop when she came to Mahora. I think we’re talking about EXACTLY what we’re seeing now. Remember when in the Mahora Festival Evangeline didn’t stop Chao?
Maybe we’ll se a Mahora Festival 2.0, this time with Asuna and Chao trying to prevent the future we’re seeing in this panels. If NEgima ended this way, I could be happy with it.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      (1) Good theory, but the raw shows she’s actually looking at real photos left for her by Ayaka.

      (2) That appears to be true, and something I speculated would be the case — everything Negi did would bring about the future Chao tried to stop. Plus, the fact that Eva is still in Mahora garb and showing up strongly suggests that Negi never uncovered Nagi and thus the curse was never lifted.

      >Remember when in the Mahora Festival Evangeline didn’t stop Chao?

IF that ends up being a clue, I’ll laugh. Back then, it just fit with Eva’s personality. Unless you aren’t saying that Chao told Eva the truth back then. If Chao told Eva, one would think Eva would have fought with Chao.

As to a Mahora 2.0, I’m not so sure, but you may well be right on that being the case.

    • Mariuk says:

Well, unless there’s something wrong with my knowledge of time paradoxes, if this is currently the timeline Chao was trying to prevent, then it is required to keep consistency in the time line that she at a certain point WILL go back in time and produce the events that we saw in Mahora Festival. And Evangeline, who saw the event at that time (and in fact, made nothing to stop it) NOW could help Chao to come back (as Evangeline knows Chao has to). If that’s the case there are two possibilities:
1)Change of timelines is not possible: the future is unchangeable -> events in the festival will go as we know. But Asuna could hide herself until she gets asleep, to show off at the end and live happily with Negi. As “cliched” this case would be, there are problems with it, as we know from the recording in chapter 352 that Negi and Ayaka “missed” Asuna – so Asuna couldn’t have been there with them.
      2) Change of timelines IS possible: Asuna and Chao manage to tell Negi what will happen next: events in MM, MoTB under Mahora tree, location of his father -> Negi understands that changing the future is the only way and assists Chao in revealing the existence of magic to the world. In fact, the future we saw with Asuna is indeed a reconciliation of magic and normal worlds. Than Negi could finish is quest finding is father (“the hero who sacrificed himself to bound MoTB”) and concluding with a flashy final showdown.
Problems with THIS case are that every event after MAhora Festival are rewritten. Akamatsu could make some pages with Ala Alba visiting MM and meeting the characters we loved again but in a more normal situation.
And last but not least, Fate is still an enemy as he never met Rakan –

If I have to bet, I would choose second option – if the three chapters left are 36 pages, I think Akamatsu could manage do something like this – and would conclude more or less everything. Unless there are family or health problems with him (and that doesn’t seem to be the case) and in fact Akamatsu decided to finish his story by himself, he is not the type of author who leaves open finals and important unanswered questions.

  30. So… if Chao’s truly a descendant of Negi… then, he married a Chinese (Ku Fei xD) or… his son/daughter did that.

BTW, I’ve always expected some type of epilogue like Love Hina’s but THIS IS BETTER THAN EXPECTED… IS A LOST ENDING (everyone’s dead xDDDD)

Well, in 3 chapters Akamatsu’ll send back Asuna via Cassiopea to Mahora and probably help Negi to find his father and solve all of the first mage stuff.

    If not, it’ll prove Akamatsu’s truyly love… Weed =D

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      >So… if Chao’s truly a descendant of Negi… then, he married a Chinese (Ku Fei xD) or… his son/daughter did that.

I’m informed that on Chinese and Japanese fan boards, the speculation runs heavy on Negi having married Setsuna or Konoka (or maybe both). Another person, who has a good record with me on making fairly accurate calls on where they think things will go, told me they figure Asuna will go back to become the one for Negi and save the future as Chao wanted.

      >BTW, I’ve always expected some type of epilogue like Love Hina’s but THIS IS BETTER THAN EXPECTED… IS A LOST ENDING (everyone’s dead xDDDD)

      I’m not sure about “better,” but the manga is certainly going out with a MASSIVE bang. ^_^;

      >If not, it’ll prove Akamatsu’s truyly love… Weed =D

      *LOL* Or something stronger. ^_~

I’ve been wondering, does Asuna still have her fake personality or is it gone?

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

The first page of the raw shows that BOTH sides of Asuna are there, and it appears that the real Asuna kicked the faux Asuna to reality. *lol* 130-years late, mind you.

  33. TvTropesNerd says:

This is really sad if it’s real but the way Chao and Eva are smiling seems to suggst there’s gonna be some sort of twist, seems unlikely to involve CE since i doubt there’s enough time to deal with them with only 3 more chapters

  34. Anonymous says:

So Asuna, Chao, and Eva are the only ones alive?

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Those are the only ones we’ve seen. I’d be VERY surprised if Chachazero and Chachamaru weren’t alive as Chachazero had been around for nearly as long as Eva was a vampire, and Chachamaru could easily be swapped out into a new, better android body.

  38. Anonymous says:

On the first image, is that Anya as an adult?

  39. junior says:

I have to say, the way that the “3 chapters left” announcement is handled seems a bit odd. I’d have expected that on the very last page of the chapter. But if I’m reading this properly, then the third preview image (Asuna crying) is directly followed by the sixth preview image (Eva and Chao reveal themselves; that appears to be Eva landing behind Asuna in the bottom-center panel of the third preview image). And that’s followed (probably a few pages later) by the ninth preview image (i.e. the tombstone – that appears to be Eva standing behind Asuna in that shot). Which means that the announcement isn’t on the final page of the chapter, where I would expect it to be.

    Curious.

Also worth noting is that it appears that while this coming chapter shows that Negi has died, it doesn’t appear to tell us who Negi hooked up with. That’s an odd oversight, imo…

After all is said and done, between what we see here and the awfully large number of questions left unanswered, I’m having a hard time believing that he’s just going to drop it all in three chapters following this one.

    • Anonymous says:

No, according to Red Savant, the little girl at the grave is Ayaka’s granddaughter.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      >I’d have expected that on the very last page of the chapter

It was. I didn’t know the order and just grabbed them as they were given to me. ^_^; But, the Chao-Eva appearance and the announcement are the last page of the chapter.

      >Also worth noting is that it appears that while this coming chapter shows that Negi has died, it doesn’t appear to tell us who Negi hooked up with. That’s an odd oversight, imo…

Purposeful, IMO. ^_~ There are speculations on Japanese and Chinese sites that Negi may hook up with Setsuna or Konoka (or both), based on some stuff in the chapter.

As the other person said, the little girl is Ayaka’s granddaughter, who’s an ojousama herself (of course). Her chauffeured car reminds me of Back to the Future.

If it really end like this, I’m gonna fly to Japan and kill Ken Akamatsu.

    • Anonymous says:

Stupid. I don’t think so Ken decided freely about the end. He has got a very few amount of pages (3 chaps) to resolve the _stopping_. It can be godd, it can be bad. We will see it. But it is not the end of Negima. We cannot buy/dl weekly Negima, yes, it is true, it is sad.

I think the last chapter can be a strange cliffhanger. 😉

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      I wouldn’t joke about killing Akamatsu-sensei over a work of fiction. ^_^;;;

That aside, there are three more chapters AFTER 352, and if Akamatsu-sensei follows Love Hina, then they could be long chapters.

  43. Zeether says:

I think that there still could be another series, given how there is stuff that is unresolved, but I do think Ken needs a break.

Chao’s presence definitely means they’re going to go back in time. Remember how in Back to the Future, Marty saw that Doc Brown had died and the future was changed as a result, then went back in time with the DeLorean? Same thing here, I’m guessing.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Your theory may well be very close to the mark. Ayaka’s granddaughter’s car was an “old” car by future standards, but had been retro-fitted to have the wheels rotate in 90-degrees. I immediately thought of Back to the Future when I saw it, and your remarks struck home then as a result.

  45. AstroNerdBoy says:

I’m REALLY starting to wonder here…when Asuna “sees” the elderly Ayaka standing on the field (which I’m guessing is the terraformed Mars), that scene vanishes in a flurry of petals, as if an illusion is being broken. There’s even aftermath of it. I find that interesting.

    • Ultimaniac says:

I just saw the raw too. I think it was probably just a magic projection message left by Ayaka. It shows up right after Asuna hears Negi’s message to her so it leads me to believe that it’s sort of like a larger scale version of the letters Negi and Nekane used to exchange with each other.

  46. Anonymous says:

If i remember correctly the World Tree lights up every 22 years. And big time jumps using time machines can only happen with a lot of mana such as during the Mahora Festival. So:

    2035 – 2003 = 132

    and

    132 / 2 = 6

Therefore Asuna got there just in time for the World Tree to light up. = )

  50. Mizuka says:

Has anyone thought the possibility of Negi NOT being the main character of the series? It may be Asuna actually. Or, more like, with the turn Ken made here, it makes me think this possibility: Maybe he is doing this to prepare Asuna as the new main character for the new possible series he might made to answer/complete Negima. (I think it would be awesome if he did that, I deeply love Asuna as a character, she is one of my fav)

Another thing I wanna talk about is Negi’s tombstone. I was dumbfounded when I saw it. WTH happened to Negi being inmortal like Eva? And not being able to have kids? BUT is also logical if we want to have Chao in this chapter. Yet is so contradictory, when Hakase shows the family tree book of Negi and is completely blank. Was it a false book? Was it the true one? I just hope we get answers somehow in the new chapters (even though with three chapters you can’t say that much)

And then the continue of this chapter. I strongly accept the idea of Asuna and Chao travelling via Cassiopea with the World Tree help, and trying to change the future, though in my personal opinion and preference, I don’t like that ending, mainly because it not so original (too easy to guess and by reading this manga for so many years now, I know that its more difficult to guess what’s going to come next from Ken) and it would made Asuna to fiht against Negi and the others somehow (if she helps Chao to change this future, then she would have to either talk all that happened to Negi OR fight with Chao)

I’m curious as what happened with the real relationship of Asuna and Negi as well. Is her his aunt? His sister? If we knew, it would help with other problems too (I’m curious about the lady with the cape from Ostia underground too, that was part of Asuna’s real family apperently?)

I would love to support an ‘ending’ idea but there isn’t a good one for me right now so far, since you can (or can’t) expect much with so many holes here and there (how come the princess kicked asuna to the real world, if that is what truly happened?)

I understand this awesome manga has to end one day, but I always expected a better ending. I like open ends as well as closed endings, but here we have an open ending with a helluba lot of cliffhangers and unanswered questions, and it’s so not cool. I too feel like half my life was destroyed somehow, I felt like I was hit too hard to understand what is going on.

I hope that with the translations we will get to get a better grasp of WTF is going on, and let’s wish the next three final chapters (omg i hate writting it) are pretty long, filled with answers (and more ‘good feeling’ that this one, meaning it’s not so sad and dramatic…) I don’t like sad endings, that’s for sure.

Last thing, I’m getting to hate Eva for the reason she just keeps messing everything up XD

      >Maybe he is doing this to prepare Asuna as the new main character for the new possible series he might made to answer/complete Negima.

The problem with Asuna being the main character is that she’s a dues ex machina character in terms of action. Her magic cancel makes her practically unstoppable.

      >WTH happened to Negi being inmortal like Eva?

Eva can be killed, just not easily. She won’t die of old age or the like, but vampires can be killed.

      >I’m curious as what happened with the real relationship of Asuna and Negi as well.

Asuna is very old. I want to say she’s a few hundred years old. So that makes any relative status meaningless.

A strange question: on the first page of 352 raw is a text about number 37 (volume as I think) and DVD and a date: 17 Feb. The last three (or four with 352) chapters will be a complete volume? About 70 pages per chapter?

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

We are currently having chapters for volume 38, and as was pointed out to me, the final three chapters at normal page-length would be just right to finish out volume 38.

The cap is already out in English …
I felt sorry for Asuna, Eva and Chao are the only survivors. A representative lived for over 100 years waiting for Asuna.
Negi died more than 70 years and each one has lived his life according to your wishes.
Well okay confirmed three more caps so pro that is very little considering how many questions still have no answer.Chachamaru should not be there too?

The Asuna that kicked the other Asuna who is naked still has that dull and straight look on her face. She never at least show her emotions like smiling.

I’m sad but coming to terms with this ending.

It’s beautifully bittersweet — they did it, they saved the world, but at great personal price.

Think of your own friends and adventures — none of us will be here 100 years from now.

We’d be fortunate to exist as memories for anyone.

  55. Tenka says:

I don’t think Negi died of old age. Think of it, it wouldn’t make sense. Even if the semi-vampirism didn’t grant him eternal youth, it should have at the very least extended his life span to beyond that of a normal human. We already saw that his injuries healed, so we know there are at least some effects on his body. If we go on the assumption that he didn’t die of old age, then the picture they show of him as an “adult” could just be age-changing candy, or an illusion like Eva uses. Considering that he become such a huge public figure, he’d need to have an appearance to fit his role.

So, this conjecture brings about two possibilities: one, that he is, in fact, not dead, but faked his death for some reason. If Ayaka truly outlived Negi, don’t you think there’d be something in the time capsule about it? I mean, she’d have 30+ years to include a photo or letter or something.

The second option is this: Negi was killed. This makes the most sense to me. Asuna said she was worried about how he’d do without her. The Mage of the Beginning (of Lifemaker, or fake-Nagi, or whatever) had told Negi to come find him, and I don’t think that’s something that Akamatsu would just forget about or ignore. So, if he did, and fought and lost, or was never heard from again, it would explain the tombstone. It would also open the possibility of Asuna traveling back in time to save him. As for Ayaka, if she had known Negi was killed, she might have purposefully left that out, to both ease her pain and to prevent Asuna’s suffering.

Poor Ayaka, she died at the age of 115 and never was able to see Asuna.

There’s one thing I don’t understand. Ken stated he was going to do one more arc for the manga before ending it. Why did he suddenly change his mind about this?

  58. Anonymous says:

This makes me wonder if the arc that Akamatsu wanted before ending Negima was this “Normal Life” arc…………..

  59. Anonymous says:

I’m sorry to say but Negima has not been good to me these past few years. Mainly because of the Magical World arc.

Seriously that arc so long, so nerve grating forced, so mind numbing convoluted, by some point in time, it became a parody of itself and people were begging for it to end.

And that’s not even the worst part. The arc was littered with over-extended fight scenes, pointless exposition, plot points that went absolutely no where , and a ending that was rushed and a complete cop-out.

You could write essays about the amount of plot-holes this series has.

And I know there’ll be people telling me not to complain too soon blah, blah, blah, but really the damages has already been done.

    • Anonymous says:

      >You could write essays about the amount of plot-holes this series has.

      Please tell me a few.

    • Anonymous says:

      I ways exaggeration of course.

    • arimareiji says:

Not really… I’ve written paragraphs recently about how many plot holes there were just wrt a lack of coherent explanation for Asuna’s needing to be sealed. (It’s the reason I thought something was forcing Akamatsu-sensei to telescope his story down drastically, even before the announcement.)

And that’s just one of the major plotholes… so I don’t think it’s a stretch to say you could write essays, if you set your mind to it.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      >Seriously that arc so long, so nerve grating forced, so mind numbing convoluted, by some point in time, it became a parody of itself and people were begging for it to end.

Back during the Mahora Festival arc, I used to think the same thing. However, that was because when reading it week-to-week, it seems like it takes forever, longer with break weeks. However, when read as a whole, it isn’t bad at all.

Ditto the Magic World arc. When read as a whole, it isn’t nearly as long as you think.

      >I’ve written paragraphs recently about how many plot holes there were just wrt a lack of coherent explanation for Asuna’s needing to be sealed.

A lack of an explanation does not constitute a plot hole. Asuna has been used all along in the Magic World. Fate unlocking her Twilight Princess persona allowed Asuna to access her former life, and also know the truth of the Magic World. I’ve always felt that Asuna was the one who came up with the idea of being plugged into the machine on the MW. That’s because Negi felt that he could get things done in the 9+ years they had before the MW died. However, Asuna likely gave Negi the option to take 100-years to get it done right.

I thought that Negima would end in chapter 380 or 390 since Ken Akamatsu said he would not go more than 400 chapters.

A bittersweet ending to a great series.

f*ck this! im crying my f*cking eyes out! damn you ken akamatsu! it’s really depressing! i can’t probably finish my thesis because of this!! arrgh!

  63. Anonymous says:

it’s kinda sad that it will end in 3 chapters. i was reading the scandlated version at 11pm, while listening to ashita na (for those who watched the negima anime, ep 23 the music at the start of asuna’s funeral). hopefully the chapters will be really long.

A theory i have is that chao will give asuna the time watch, go back a 130 year (need a hell of a lot of magic, possible help from eva) and enjoy te rest of her life with the gang

    • arimareiji says:

Wow… I’m amazed that you could read it while listening to that music. I’d have been too watery-eyed to see straight, let alone read.

    • Anonymous says:

it was hard enough to read manga on a phone, but add music and become near enough impossible

  64. Anonymous says:

And after she travel back in time she will confess her love for Negi. I sure hope Akamatsu at least end the manga with Negi being with the girl he loves.

  65. Anonymous says:

Very very strange… How can Miniincho recognize Asuna?

  66. Anonymous says:

What if chao is Negi? Negi just trying to hide or something?

  67. DeltaResilience says:

This is what I get for missing out on so many chapters. Now that I’m up to date…..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TBQywGmMjQ
(If links annoy you ANB, I apologise, hope you understand)

This turn of events, its frigging powerful, but it cant end like this. This is one of those manga, where no matter what negative things are said, or how it’s popularity is not that compared to other shounen big wings (dbz, naruto, Op, etc.) or comics and stories in general, I will forever love this series.

I really hope that A) the 3 chapters will bring a most satisfying conclusion. B) a Negima sequel, or perhap a spin-off series is made.

But none of the above are what we truly want. What we want is:
    C) A final arc to this epic manga story
(Cookie points for those who get this a,b,c style of option choosing XD)

  68. Anonymous says:

wow ths manga turn out to be just a elaborate piece of toilet paiper.
