ハヤテのごとく!/Hayate no Gotoku Chapter 369
Hayate the Combat Butler Manga Chapter 369
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Hayate is stunned to find the coffin from the Royal Garden Palace is in the formerly sealed, secret room of the apartment house. When Ah-tan asks about it, Hayate recalls his promise to her when she was still an adult to pretend he knew nothing of the palace or the like. Father Radiostar suggests they open the coffin to see if there is a corpse inside, which Hayate wonders if that’s the right thing to do. However, at Isumi’s request, Hayate and Tama open the lid on the coffin to find nothing inside other than a torn corner from a picture, which floats to the floor for Isumi to pick up.
As Isumi looks with surprise at the picture fragment, the young woman who’d been spying on them enters the room wearing a cape and visor, requesting they not give her extra work to deal with. Hayate recognizes the girl from one of Ruka’s concerts as Isumi launches an immediate attack on her. To Isumi’s surprise, her ofuda spell strips are caught by the girl, who flings them back at Isumi in a counterattack.
The girl tosses a crystal into the open coffin, causing it to go up in flame. She advises them to put the fire out lest the apartment burn down, but as she turns to leave, Isumi channels the fire to herself, telling the girl that she won’t be leaving just yet.
Thoughts/Review:
Heh! Have I mentioned recently how awesome Isumi is as a character? Seriously, if anyone deserves the “sama” honorific attached to their name, it is her. She’s not invulnerable, but considering how wicked-insane powerful her great grandmother is, I can see Isumi going well beyond her great grandmother in terms of power.
This chapter again speaks of the need for me to get caught up on the backstory. I still don’t know why Athena got small and I don’t know if there was any other mention of the coffin. Plus, since this girl who tried to burn the place down apparently has been seen by Hayate, that’s something else that I want to know.
So, the big questions are
- What was the coffin supposed to seal?
- What was the picture fragment in the coffin?
- What did Isumi recognize from the photo?
- What is the young woman’s connection with the Royal Garden?
Not much else to speak of here since this chapter is setting up something larger. I’m looking forward to it.
What the girl’s dog not real the whole time because she told Isumi that what she gets for destroying her pet.
Yeah, I figured that once I saw the dog’s remains. ^_^
Doesn’t it look like Hayate and Tama are bowing down to Isumi.
Now that you mention it, it does.
Man, you really need to get caught up. You’re not going to get an explanation for Athena and the other girl until you’re past Chapter 300, btw.
Egad, that’s just nuts! *lol*
I did get volume 24 blogged and I just finished volume 25, so I do know that when Athena and Hayate parted company, she was still an adult. I was actually surprised by that.
Volume 24’s blog post will go up on the 13th…I think. ^_^;
