ヨルムンガンド Perfect Order episode 01

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

“Dr. Miami” and Mokoena encounter the now jobless Karen, whom Dr. Miami immediately takes a liking to and offers her a job as the third secretary in Dr. Miami’s staff.  Sometime later, Dr. Miami and Karen head to the Solomon Islands, where Koko is launching her 126th rocket into space, carrying another communications satellite. Karen and Valmet growl at each other, their last meeting being a fight that could have killed both of them, but Koko and Miami put a stop to it. Koko’s rocket launch is not unnoticed by the world, as CIA spooks Scarecrow and Schokolade are nearby to observe in person as their boss, George Black, sees the thing via camera. George calls Scarecrow to tell him to give Koko a wide birth since Operation Undershaft is still in effect.

Renato Socchi, code named “R” by Koko, thinks back on when he infiltrated Koko’s team. R meets with his true boss, George Black, to report that someone in the CIA is trying to kill Koko despite the fact that Operation Undershaft forbids killing her. George says he’ll investigate and asks what R thinks of Koko after two years. R says he honestly doesn’t know, since she is on a whole other level than anyone else. However, R believes Koko is aware that she’s becoming a monster. George replies that he doesn’t want an uncontrollable monster and fears that Koko and Dr. Miami are becoming monsters together.  As such, he’d really like to know what the two of them are planning.

Koko decides to give Jonah an impromptu lesson on the CIA and its various types of employees, citing Scarecrow as an Operations Officer. The ones Koko would run from are the Paramilitary Operations Officers, as they handle the CIA’s military work. Koko states that the last assassination attempt on her was likely the work of a P.O.O. group, and she suspects that an operative named Hex is responsible. Elsewhere, the aforementioned Hex pays a visit to CIA undercover spook Spin, where she uses some minor seduction to get information on Operation Undershaft, namely that the CIA is looking to control Koko and her network. She vows to kill Koko because of their history, then flies to another location, where she executes a prisoner who won’t give up information. Hex then plans on how she can best break Koko.

Thoughts/Review:

Finally, I’m able to watch and review this series in an episodic fashion. The nice thing about this episode is that it takes the time to set the table for things in motion, even providing some back history bits so that the audience knows why Karen and Valmet don’t like each other.

Speaking of Karen, I do like how she got picked up by Dr. Miami to officially be her secretary, but in reality, Karen makes a 1st rate bodyguard. So, if this Hex chick comes after Dr. Miami, the good doctor will have some protection.

As to Hex, I gotta say that it was somewhat weird hearing Skuld from Ah! My Goddess speaking.  OK, I know that HISAKAWA Aya has done lots of stuff, including Keroro from Cardcaptor Sakura, but I thought of Skuld when I heard her speak. *lol*

As to the character herself, Hex is a nutter to be sure, but she understands the power that women have over guys. All it took was seeing and fondling her breasts to get Spin to start talking. I get the feeling that she would have gone all the way with him had he wanted, but no doubt, once he understood her plan, he discovered his bats removed themselves from the ballpark, thus no performance on his end. ^_^;;;

With R being a double agent working for the CIA, one wonders if his remarks on her killing him should she find out will come true. I haven’t seen enough of him in action to know for sure, but knowing Koko, she may already know that he’s a double agent and is playing him at some level. I’m sure she would have him killed in a moment should his usefulness come to an end.

Despite knowing what Koko and Miami are sending into space, we still don’t know their ultimate gambit. I have ugly thoughts on this, namely that her ultimate game is some sort of enforced world peace, but I guess I’ll have to wait and find out.

Anyway, it is good to be back into this franchise, which has proven so interesting and entertaining. I may be a bit delayed on this, but I will episode blog it for sure.
