Jormungand: Perfect Order – 08 (20)

ヨルムンガンド Perfect Order episode 08 (20)

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Jormungand: Perfect Order - 08In the past, Koko and Minami are on a butterfly hunt, sealing their friendship and launching their plan for a new world. In the present, Koko and her team are in South Africa for the completion of Minami’s Märchen toy and robotic facility. Schokolade reports this to Scarecrow, who in turn then gets a call from Chief Black to ask what Koko could be doing with such a facility in South Africa. Minami takes Karen and Jonah off for some unsuccessful butterfly hunting, and though she’s eager to talk with Jonah, she won’t reveal what she and Koko are up to. When it is time for Koko’s group to leave, Koko and Minami have final words, showing how the other has gotten softer. Koko reveals the name of their plan is Jormungand.

Jormungand: Perfect Order - 08CCAT arms dealers Curry, Mildo, and Lu have dinner at a Japanese restaurant with Minami and Karen. Though Mildo reveals they are there due to Minami’s cooperation with Koko, Curry plays this down, instead asking if there’s a role for mid-tier arms dealers. This causes Mildo to freak out, while Minami reveals that she knows Curry’s history as an ex-RAF officer and now arms dealer. The negative tone of Minami’s angers Mildo, who threatens her. Karen rises to defend her boss, so the two bodyguards get into a fierce fist fight while Curry and Minami continue to chat. Curry concedes that with the nature of warfare having changed, his services won’t be required. Minami suggests opening a restaurant and Lu says he’ll help. Mildo accepts defeat, not having given the fight her all, and says she’ll help too.

Jormungand: Perfect Order - 08Koko and Jonah go for a night drive before meeting with Amalia from the Euro Group, who reveals her unseen UAV’s fly so high, they aren’t impacted by weather and due to solar power, they can fly almost indefinitely. After showing Koko a picture of her taken by one of the UAV’s, reports go to Chief Black on Koko’s meeting with Amalia. In addition, he probes Scarecrow, who’s now in South Africa to investigate Minami more. Kasper is about to give a speech, which Amalia orders recorded, after which she tells Koko she figures the speech will be about the satellites HCLI has been launching and that the nature of the arms business is about to change. That being said, Amalia figures her best option is to chat with Koko.

Jormungand: Perfect Order - 08At the arms expo in the Philipines, Kasper begins his speech, which is also being broadcast on the Internet, thus folks like Chief Black, Yousuke, and others are tuned in.  Kasper announces the start of Hekmatyar Global Grid (Hek-GG), an on-demand communications and logistics network. With this private network, HCLI will be much more efficient at delivering whatever needs to be delivered to war zones, and they will be much cheaper and better than anything any government can provide. Jonah notes Kasper on a laptop and wonders why Koko and Amalia aren’t watching. Amalia wants to know what Koko is really plotting. Koko starts to give the company line, but Amalia stops her, knowing there is more. However, Amalia won’t press, but tells Koko that if she needs help, Amalia will be there for her.

Thoughts/Review:

Man, it is about time I got back into this series, after unfortunately having to put it on a back burner for a time due to real world stupidity.

Jormungand: Perfect Order - 08

Regardless, although this was certainly an interesting and entertaining episode, I find I don’t have a whole lot to say. Obviously, Koko’s and Minami’s Jormungand operation is proceeding, but I’ve no clue what it could be. It probably ties in with the Hek-GG stuff, but since Kasper and Koko’s father aren’t going to be aware of whatever Koko is planning, who knows what’s going to happen. I just hope it isn’t some stupid “technology is evil” thing.  Nothing makes an interesting anime turn stupid faster than that sort of message (kinda like Blue Gender…but I digress).

Jormungand: Perfect Order - 08

Koko had mentioned that some folks might get an inkling of what she’s up to. Certainly, Mr. Curry did, thus his meeting with Minami. Mildo proved amusing in that she lets herself get beat up by Karen, after being angry at the though of CCAT going out of business, but then happily volunteers to work at Mr. Curry’s restaurant, should he choose to open one.

Jormungand: Perfect Order - 08

Amalia is much the same, only instead of pondering getting out of the arms business, she’s looking to shift with Koko. Funny how when Amalia was introduced, she was a rival arms dealer whom Koko had to teach a lesson to.  Now, they are partners, though Amalia’s use of “Koko-chan” smacks of some insincerity regarding their closeness. I do believe Amalia wants in on Koko’s secret, but she’s smart enough to just let Koko know she knows.

Jormungand: Perfect Order - 08

Well, since I’m behind, I won’t waste more time and will try to get busy with the next episode…I hope. ^_^;

    The fight between Milde and Karen reminded me of one of the Black Lagoon episodes where Revy (one of the main cast) and Roberta (the maid of some boy) were beating each other in the docks while everyone else were watching them.
