Ah! My Goddess chapter 305
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Skuld wants to make one more tweak to Glühendes Herz, but it says they don’t have time. Belldandy says goodbye to her mother, Ansuz, and Urd declines an offer from her mother, Hild, to remain in hell. Hagall is not happy with Urd’s casual rejection of Hild’s offer since she and the others crave Hild’s motherly affections. Urd tells her that she gets jealous of Hagall and the others for all the time they get to spend with Hild.
Keiichi, Belldandy, Skuld, and Urd mount Glühendes Herz, who takes off so fast, Urd falls off and is forced to race to try to catch up and remount. Ansuz asks Hild why she allowed Urd to be a goddess. Hild says it is because she thought it would be interesting, but Ansuz thinks Hild is lying and simply wanted Urd left with Tyr. This leads to the two engaging in poker and another card game (battle) at the same time before Ansuz has to leave.
With over eight minutes left before the portal closes, Glühendes Herz pours on the speed while outside the portal, Peorth and Lind defeat the hoards around them. Peorth begins repairing the collateral damage all around. When Lind offers to assist, Peorth has her watch the portal since Lind isn’t good at repair work. Lind notices the portal is closing and reports this to Peorth.
Thoughts/Review:
It was very nice seeing Peorth and Lind again. When I posted my image love for Ah! My Goddess the other day, I was reminded of how Peorth and Lind had disappeared from the manga. I had hoped that when this final arc started with Belldandy and company going to rescue Hild, we’d occasionally get a peek in on Peorth and Lind doing battle and whatever on Earth. We didn’t get that, but we did get one shot of them in action (or rather, finishing up action).
As expected, the chapter had the element of Glühendes Herz trying to make it back to Earth in a limited amount of time. That’s so obviously setting up a situation where Glühendes Herz squeaks out with only seconds to spare.
Belldandy’s farewell with her mother was amusing due to Ansuz apparent fondness for human food.
I really liked how Fujishima-sensei gave us an explanation on why Urd became a goddess rather than a demon (mazoku). I’m glad that this came out because it was something I’d always wondered about considering Urd’s parentage. I also liked Urd’s and Hagall’s final words where they both are envious of the other because of the other’s relationship with Hild.
Finally, the final “fight” between Ansuz and Hild was pretty funny to me.
So, things are nearly wrapped up with one final hurdle to get through before Belldandy and Keiichi get married.
