UQ Holder Chapter 35 SPOILER Info and Images (Update #2)

Here is the first SPOILER information from the upcoming UQ Holder chapter 35 courtesy of UQ Holder and Negima! fan Hata. ^_^ (My review of UQ Holder chapter 35 should come out Wednesday.)

UQ HOLDER CHAPTER 35 SPOILERS

So, here’s the information Hato has for us from 2CH.

the more detail 2ch spoiler explains thus.

a flashback chapter of what happen the first time they encountered Fate at Gate 3,
(I got stuck when the kanji is the same meaning as Chinese “first week”)
— resistance is futil.
— Karin forced teleport to parts unknown,
— Ameya head was crushed into dust.
— so is Tota’s entire body after petrification (only head left.)
— Kuroumaru one hit killed.
— which forced Sakurame to commit suicide before being petrified. as she recounts this as the “future to be avoided”,

now the only thing left is to dissect Fate’s statement when the chapter is out, which should be soon.

If true this would be in line with what I expected — on their first trip, Kirie saw Fate, then as a result of that encounter resulted in her death and thus her mission. I wasn’t sure that she’d commit suicide, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do.

Akamatsu-sensei put out this tweet, citing a mistake for the splash page for chapter 35.

UQ Holder Chapter 35 SPOILERI think there is supposed to be text in the upper section stating stating the chapter name and such, which is what the mistake is. So the chapter becomes a “mystery,” thus Akamatsu-sensei does the unthinkable and releases said image ahead of the dastardly internet pirates.

There have been no other UQ Holder chapter 35 spoiler images posted anywhere, which is a shame. I figure the Chinese scans will come out soon. If they come out first, I’ll do what I usually do and grab a few images to remark on as an appetizer before the chapter comes out in English.^_^

Update #1: Chinese scans are out. The UQ Holder title cover’s Fate’s face in the magazine version.  It also prevents one from seeing that he’s looking at himself and Negi.

Now, for a couple of additional images from UQ Holder 35.

UQ Holder Chapter 35 SPOILER

Heh! I love the look on Fate’s face, saying that the members of UQ Holder that he’s facing are less than worthless.  Adding to that is the looks on Ikkuu’s and Karin’s faces, whereupon they KNOW they are less than worthless in this situation.

UQ Holder Chapter 35 SPOILER

Wow. Pretty gruesome there, Akamatsu-sensei. But, this more seinen type manga is what he’s been wanting to do.

I’m certainly looking forward to reading this chapter in English. ^_^

Update #2: Since Southrop has a brief translator note, I wanted to toss him a link.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

I’m hoping introducing Fate will bring this series in a new direction, like Eva did in Negima

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      I think it very likely will. It helps shift the manga to a bigger story. Now, if Touta can just grow as a character…^_^;;;

      • NML says:

I was rereading Negima with a friend, who likes UQ Holder and wants to read about Tota’s grandfather, and I was surprised how much of a clueless ditz Negi was in the first volume or two so Akamatsu could turn this around.
Also I would love to see this manga animated, especially the first two chapters

        • AstroNerdBoy says:

I never thought of Negi as a ditz in the first two volumes. He was certainly very naive, and that naivety lessened over time, but was often still there.

As to an anime, if the manga sales do well, I’ve no doubt that an anime will be produced. The problem is, will one be done properly, unlike the mess that happened with Negima.

          • NML says:

Yea it’s easy to forget that Negi is 10, so naive is the proper way of putting it.

I think since this manga has action in the first chapter and has a typical shonen protagonist it probably has a better chance than Negima(hopefully gets a different animation studio).

Also, I know we’re all judging UQ Holder pretty harshly, and so am I, but I just realised we still haven’t even met all the characters that are on that splash page in the first chapter.

I’m looking forward to Fate talking with Tota, I really doubt that Negi is dead.

I hope we find out more about Tota, I’m wondering if Tota might be kinda like Asuna, he knew powerful techniques before he lost his memories and now he’s starting to awaken them again, like Asuna with kanka.

          • AstroNerdBoy says:

That’s true. The manga could get better, especially in Touta starts growing as a character.

I’m looking forward to Fate talking with Tota, I really doubt that Negi is dead.

He didn’t seem much interested in talking. *lol*

  2. I cannot wait for the Next Chapter ! Hell awaits.

  3. OverMaster says:

And lo and behold, how all of Fate’s character development was tossed into the trash (he never was bad enough to imply other living, sentient, sapient beings were things to be owned, which is more of a Quartum thing to say. Not to mention going from saving orphans to sending killers and a would be rapist like Chao after them). I never was a Fate fan, and I know good falls from grace can be written, but they shouldn’t magically show up after a long timeskip; that isn’t a good showing of natural character progression. Even doing it in flashback form… it can’t be the same thing as to actually have it happening as his character arc goes on.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I disagree that Fate’s character development got trashed. To be honest, this is what I expected to happen in Negima had that manga continued. Fate’s partnership with Negi was conditional. Fate is one who believes that the ends justify the means. Sometimes that means saving people and sometimes that means killing people. So as I saw it, Fate would eventually break away from Negi and the two would have an actual, climactic battle.

I do get your point about the dichotomy in the character. However, considering the “immortals are evil” dogma that Powerful Hand believes, Fate may have decided that immortals are the true problem and to save humanity, immortals must die at all costs.

      • Aki says:

I also see fate in that kind of light, what got to me in negima was the fact that there was no right or wrong answer to anything. Only other people can judge your ideology and fate was neutral on my opinion where he will go with what he feels is the better option.

Fate and chao were deemed as baddies because their ideals and plot were rather grand and had severe consequences whilst negi was the protagonist, it was stated in negi that his plans did lead to wars etc so in some people opinions negi was evil.

The fact that fate still calls negi his sworn friend then it possible they are still on good terms and negi could still be alive or he could have died but until we get info on the 2065 event it hard to say.

        • AstroNerdBoy says:

That’s part of why I figure folks like Nagumo consider UQ Holder “evil.”

As for Fate and Negi, I figure that Negi’s death (whether it is real, or Fate is just unaware that Negi is in hiding somewhere) is what turned Fate south and on his current course.

          • Aki says:

Actually regarding fate ‘touta should have been mine in the first place’ and the use of immortals in powerful hands it is likely that uq holder and powerful hands are actually similar organisations comprised of so call immortals.

Nagumo is part android, kaito is a werewolf with high speed regeneration, fate himself is an artificial life form and kuromaru when (s)he was a hunter was an immortal.

Negi could have went south and fate followed him and negi is a secret boss or something but regardless of him being dead or alive now… It evident that the following are important to the story.

            1) immortals and their role to the plot
            2) what uq holder and powerful hands true goal in using so called immortals
            3) what truly happened in 2065 between negi and Mage of beginning
            4) is negi Springfield the man quoted to be immortal and the disciple of Evageline and rival, sworn friend and the man par if not stronger than fate truly dead? Or is he playing possum and has a rather ‘evil’ plot?
            5) why is that kid touta so important to fate and Evageline?

          • AstroNerdBoy says:

it is likely that uq holder and powerful hands are actually similar organisations comprised of so call immortals.

That does seem to be the case, except for whatever reason, Nagumo and Xinzi seem to despise immortals as evil.

Anyway, your five items are what I want to see answers to (in addition to getting more of Eva’s past explored, though that’s likely a pipe dream).

      • Seimei says:

woah ! Astro and Over -master sincerely disagree , at least in a perfect way ! ( as well on Astro never was also virulant and intrensigeant that over- master lol) . I must open the champagne!

More seriously, as I think you Astro actions Fate are perfectly consistent with his personality. Over -master is probably reference that Fate has never killed humans in Negima . Except that :

        1. Had an order of life -maker and although he never killed humans, he utiisé hostage all the inhabitants of a city ( the passage of the “negotiations” around Asuna ) . Plus it never knows private killing habtants – magical world , whether with his own strength or “keys” mage from the beginning.

2 . His current goal and protect Mars ( which serves as a source of energy in the world -magic ) , the ” illegal ” slums giant that stability and control according to him, he cleans , nothing more, nothing less.

Fate is much less idealistic than Negi , has a pramatique who does not hesitate to get their hands dirty . And to protect ” the dream of Negi ” he even used means that it disapproves . When in fact that tip without warning I recall it was also pointed without warning at the entrance of the world -magic to come ala -alba.

Anyway, I ‘m totally with you Astro agreements . That said I hope Fate will not be the main antagonniste , it would be too Negma copied . I really hope that will be the mage antagonniste the beginning. Could be retorted that his would -Cole also copied , except that the life -maker has been virtually unused in Negima . I hope this time it will be active , and more “direct” and he will not just played the ” final boss ” as in negima .

By cons , pity (and here I think we will all agree ( yes even over- master lol) ) made that Negi is dead and he is not the current life- maker, please! Well I would defer if is the case, it would just be a minor detail but it would be better now , anyway it shows that Sensei has worked his brain to process the background of ultimate mystery of the universe ^ ^ (what Negi trensformé in a life -maker could explain how Nagi was saved in negima , what should even give her ^ ^) .

Otherwise for the rest I can see at least three factions :
        1. UQ Holder
        2 . Fate ( and immortal hunters)
(3 . ‘s Life -maker and its potential allies.

For cons, the only point where I do not approve of you Astro, is that I do not think fatevoit immortal as fondamentalements bad. Already because he is one himself (which would also explain how Nagumo may agree to work for him lol) and then because so far his actions have been limited to “exterminate the vermin “(ie to the poor refugees who have nothing demende) this again, to protect the peace of Mars and by extension that of the magical world. It has so far never attque other immortals voluntary and when it does in this chapter is to recover Tota.

Here also, further evidence that Fate is always the same, it seems to have the same possessive obsession about Tota that he had about Negi at the end of Negima. ^ ^

        • Aki says:

I think fate is after touta for a different reason…

His fixation to negi was the fact he saw negi as a mere child and son of thousand master and has grown to perk hs interest by fighting as his equal and offers an impossible solution.

I reckon fate wants touta for something in regards to his plans r something that key to the plt that occurs o 2065 to present.

        • AstroNerdBoy says:

I actually don’t think Fate killed anyone. I put that in my review today. ^_^

          Sorry I can’t write more. I’m pressed for time. ^_^;;;;;;

  4. OH MY GOD ! THIS IS WAY BETTER THAN I THOUGHT !

  5. Dargor says:

Fate dragging Touta’s head and Kuro’s body through a bunch of rubble?

Dare I say that this is the best ending this series could get? Why yes, yes I do.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      *lol* Well, I don’t know about series ending since I actually like Kuroumaru’s character. I will admit that I enjoyed seeing Touta losing his head, which could be a sickness on my part. ^_^;;;

      • Aki says:

Kuromaru did a setsuna in this chapter though fate didnt hold back and blitz them… Sadly for karin… Her ability don’t work on something not human.

Lol this is the second port that fate messed up.

  6. Aki says:

It was an awesome chapter, dispite how broken touta is… He is really does pale in comparison to negi who could always counter fate with his smarts whilst he was under developed

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

      That’s what made Negi interesting.

      • Aki says:

Indeed and we saw him grow and developed rather than that half month time skip and even when akatmatsu sped up negi pre rakan duel training, we still got the sense of him growing

        • AstroNerdBoy says:

That’s true. By the time Negi got to that Rakan fight training it was already well established in the “show don’t tell” sense that Negi was brilliant at picking up things and was a hard trainer. So there was no need to spend a great deal of time showing Negi (and Kotaro) going to the next levels.

    • Fwahm says:

While Negi was good as making smart countermeasures to Fate whenever he showed up, they only worked because Fate held back so much in every encounter but the last. If Fate hadn’t held back in their encounters before the Gravekeeper’s palace, Negi would have been killed no matter what he thought up.

      • AstroNerdBoy says:

Excellent point. In their first encounter, Negi wasn’t much of a threat, so Fate didn’t treat him as one. As such, Negi did get a surprise on him, but Fate overcame it. Rather than go all out, Fate was restrained, leading to Eva coming in and forcing him to retreat. I do note that Fate’s retreat was not because he didn’t think he could beat Eva, but rather he was choosing not to spend time and energy engaged in a battle that wouldn’t further his objective.

  7. NullApostle says:

Quite the massacre at the end there. Well, I don’t mind – they have their mobile, sentient get-out-of-death card right there after all.

This is like that ‘bad end’ mini-arc where Chao wins without doing all that much and Negi travels back in time to stop her, only much more gruesome. Akamatsu, Akamatsu … originality is something else.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

This is like that ‘bad end’ mini-arc where Chao wins without doing all that much and Negi travels back in time to stop her, only much more gruesome.

Ah, good point. Of course this time, only Kirie has any memory of the event and has to tell the others.

  8. there were 2 events decided the series (like Battle VS LifeMaker and the battle in Nagi’s home town in Negima)
the first event was the battle vs LifeMaker at 2065 , after that : Negi considered as dead, Eva and Fate turned to enemy (maybe when common foe is dead, their interest crashed)
the second event was Negi’s daughter family assassinated (like Nagi’s kid almost killed in the attack to his village before Negima) . All we known is : all 3 members killed and the grandkid revived by Eva
and maybe the reason Fate wants Touta linked to those events and maybe we will never know (till the end of series ofcouse)since there is a reason to make Eva sealed Touta’s memory

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I don’t think it has been established that Touta’s memories were sealed by Eva. But I suspect you are right that the reason Fate wants Touta is related to whatever happened in that flashback with what we presume are Touta’s parents.

  9. Mike M. says:

I dare say that after reading this chapter; this is the first time since possibly the first chapter I’m really anticipating the next chapter to see what happens.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Yeah, it certainly causes that feeling.

BTW, my chapter review goes up today (21-MAY-2014).

  10. Mike M. says:

I’d also like to say that Negima got really interesting for me at the Fate/Eva encounter, so I guess its neat that in UQ Holder Fate shows up for the first time and my interest peaks again. Lol.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I’d love to see Eva and Fate going toe to toe where Eva is actually pushed because she’s met an equal.
