Here is the first SPOILER image from the upcoming UQ Holder chapter 36 courtesy of the VERY gracious Southrop. (My review of UQ Holder chapter 36 should come out Wednesday.)
UQ HOLDER CHAPTER 36 SPOILERS
The UQ Holder chapter 36 goodness begins.^_^
One of my pet peeves toward the end of Negima (before we KNEW it was near the end of Negima) was how Fate’s battle harem were pretty much tossed aside. (I think Yue had one call with them, but they seemed to get lost in the shuffle to end the Magic World arc.) So it is nice to see at least three of them in this shot, as well as some of Negi’s battle harem. ^_^
Speaking of Negi’s battle harem, obviously they aren’t all there, but there are some familiar backsides. I rather like the idea that Chisame appears to be heavily involved. Chachamaru, Setsuna, Konoka, and Yue are not a surprise. Presumably, that’s Nodoka next to Yue, but if so, she’s become a little less reserved. I really can’t tell whom the girl next to Chisame is. To me, it doesn’t seem like Asuna, and if she’s in a position of governance, she probably wouldn’t be trekking with Negi. That said, she considers herself his main partner, so it probably is her. I guess it could also be Ayaka.
More lovely info on how Kirie’s immortality works.
Apparently, Ikkuu has a big surprise up his sleeve (from orbit) to deal with Fate.
Hata hasn’t posted any test spoilers, so that’s all I have for now.
I’d like to express my continued thanks to Southrop for sharing these awesome images. As usual, he has some notes for UQ Holder chapter 36 for those interested. ^_^
I guess that would be Ayaka beside Chachamaru(look at those costume ears) since the color of the hair resembles to her and if that’s Asuna, the shade would be as the same as with Shirabe.
Yeah, that was kind of my thinking.
You know what`s also weird , Fate`s group isn`t also complete , I mean , Koyomi , The girl from Fate`s group who transforms into a beast like Kotaro ?
I also forgot Tamaki.. The demi-human.
Ditto.
Yeah, I noticed that as well. No telling what happened to her.
Geez Nodoka sure has changed if she’s choosing to dress like that.
Also behind Chisame that looks like Ayaka because Asuna’s hair was shaded different.
I’m wondering when Akamatsu will reintroduce Pactios, maybe we’ll find out who Negi made his permanent ministra(I assume it’s his wife or Asuna).
Actually I think Nodoka is wearing the full-body outfit she was wearing in the opening colour page of chapter 1 with Eva and the rest of 3-A walking along the beach.
It is similar, but different. Nodoka’s costume in that image had an all black backside, or so it appeared. But I do think it is Nodoka in this image.
I’m wondering about that as well, especially since pactio cards were a money maker as an extra item to snag fans with.
Also I wonder if we’ll go to Mahora since Karin is a student.
I’m not so sure if she’s a current student or not. She may be, but she may have been one during the time when Eva was still there.
She’s wearing the uniform, which would be weird if she wasn’t a student anymore.
Unless, when she goes on missions for UQ Holder she goes undercover as a student.
My thinking is why she would be a student in the first place? We already know she’s hundreds of years old, so there’s no need for her to be a student. Eva was a student because she was forced to become one and placed under a curse that kept her as one.
As I see it, and this is just my speculation, Karin was saved by Eva way back when. Eva went off and did her own thing, sans Karin. Later, after Karin discovered Eva at Mahora, Karin simply arranged to be enrolled there to serve the one whom had saved her. After that, the school uniform simply became her battle uniform, kinda like how Kotaro wore his school uniform in Negima.
If Ikkuu is trying to pull a Chachamaru with Al Iskandariya on Fate , Tough luck..
But I`m looking forward to Next chapter , I really get excited whenever we get a flashback with the Negima crew or Characters we know makes an appearance , Haha.
*lol* Exactly. ^_^
Assuming that is Asuna… that means this is the universe where she comes back and she still can’t stop Negi’s death? It is highly likely that it is her… seeing that in the last few pages of Negima she had her hair down like Ayaka.
But Chisame’s right behind Negi with Fate… does that indicate her relationship with him was far closer than Asuna which might indicate the universe where Asuna doesn’t return?
Damn, Negi fans are going to stir up with theories with this chapter! Thanks for the spoilers!
Actually people have mentioned the shade resembles Ayaka’s which I didn’t notice… but I can see a line that resembles an ahoge so I though it might be Asuna? not sure thou – image isn’t too clear
Sadly… Asuna isn`t with them in this picture , It`s pretty clear that it is Ayaka , I get that they have almost identical hair`s , But you can tell the difference with the tones.
But , I`m still hoping that this is Timeline C and Asuna is just busy restoring the Ostia Kingdom in the Magical World..
It is funny how this image has caused the timeline waters to be murky. *lol*
Hopefully, the official image will help clarify things.
Your points about Asuna are another reason I’m leaning toward this being Ayaka.
As for Chisame, I’m not sure what it means regarding which timeline they are in, but I do like it because she’s in there helping to keep Negi straight. ^_^
Well, i think they told about the event happened 80 years ago or the end of Magic World arc, so Asuna and Fate’s girls surely apart of it but why just some of whole gangs is what should question (as Mars Gov might painted it like in the beginning they temporary hide Asuna from the event and made Negi the only hero) make me thing that those are the people actually famous because their works after the event
and showing grew up Asuna make the UQH time line matched the last time line of Negima
(first time line was Chao’s timeline , second was the timeline has only one sleep Asuna when last timeline has one sleep Asuna and her future walking around as a queen)
If Ikkuu uses Chachamaru canon or the girl showing up herself with her canon, that could be more fun as people guessing about Negi whereabout 🙂
darm auto correct , “Make me think”*
This new image does seem to have muddied up the timeline waters a bit. *lol*
As to Negi, I personally think he’s dead, but we’ll see.
the raw is out and we can see Kirie plan cleanly but yet i’m not sure that it gonna work even if 2 friends of Touta would not show up, Fate speed can be just abit slower than thunder god Negi yet he can just petrification everyone by Breath of Stone
And somehow i think the reason underground of UQ Holder could seal even Yukihime because it used to seal her father as well as her above it (not likely mean UQH location is same as Mahora since Yukihime can relocation everywhere she likes)
and i found the way Fate showed up in the chapter is badass, he just appeared out of nowhere (like the way he did in Ostia , suddenly appear and ask Negi for a coffee meeting)
Heh! That’s true.
I know we don’t get there now, but I do wonder if Fate has a memory of Kirie’s first trip. I suspect he does.
I think that unknown girl might be Ayaka as well. Besides the hair shade, she and Chachamaru (if that’s who it is) were about an inch within each other in height, as the two is the picture appear to be. Asuna was a good four inches shorter than Ayaka. Thanks for the updates.
The cat ears do seem to imply Chachamaru.
Looking at the explanation how the save work from Southrop, seems like at the beginning she was using the Bind instead of Friend. If by bringing the soul back it means the person like her would have their memories from the event in the future, but jut won’t have their body teleported to the place where she saved, I wonder if Fate was able to touch her just before she died on first time and so have the memories from that timeline.
Just a random theory with no basis though.
I’ve been thinking about this Soul/Body function for a bit now. Both create a paradox it would seem. but the body one more so since in theory, there should be TWO Touta’s instead of one.
I like the theory a lot. I can well imagine this is exactly what will happen.
I believe it works like this:
Friend – time goes back to the instant she saved, and the person she hold hands with would be instantly teleported to where she saved. So there wouldn’t be two bodies around or anything. It could have some interesting uses. In the case of Touta it didn’t make that much difference because he already was near her when she saved. But she could make someone who was initially in a different place appear where she is when she reloads.
There is still more things to be explained. Like the save only working as long as the candle is lit. Is that a fixed amount of time? Or could a strong wind blow it out? Can someone easily kick the place and erase her save? Or does it have some kind of protection?
All very good questions. I think it makes Kirie very vulnerable. If Fate was sent back in time in soul form and knows Kirie’s immortality, it makes her even more vulnerable.
Her plan seems to be to use friend to send Fate body to the past and on a different save point down in the underground (from Hata’s info). If she had sent his memories to the past on the first time without knowing her plan would be completely shattered. Although these seems to be already enough problems with the plan (like civilians and Touta’s friends being near Fate so it would be hard to attack him). And of course the plan itself is Kirie likely being naive. Sending Fate to the underground doesn’t seems like a good idea, he could probably come out very quickly.
I agree.
I think I can see a way around one of those ‘problems’. It probably doesn’t matter how vulnerable her save point is, because all she needs is a single moment where it exists perfectly to reset to, and she’s got that as soon as she’s constructed the save point. She can just reset to that very moment and doesn’t need to be afraid about somebody kicking over her save point after she’s built it!
The problem arises with her ability to take someone with her: even if the time-traveler from the future becomes a super-position of the wave function (effectively creating a new timeline, in which he could kill his grandfather without erasing himself in the process, since he’s already become a part of that universe and his memories of a not-dead grandfather from his original timeline survive with him) there would then be two different versions of that tag-along.
I mean, even if she could travel back by rewriting her memories, why would that extend to the ability to rewrite the entire existence of someone else? Which apparently is what happened to Touta and what she is proposing to do to Fate. By taking someone else with her in ‘friend’ mode she somehow erases the previous version of that person and substitutes for it the future version, except one that is just as pristine and not-wounded as the one she’s erased… My head! It hurts! Make it stop!
All the same, by the ‘simple’ ability to take her own memories back with her she is already rewriting the reality of the past. Rewriting another person’s physical existence at the same time would be merely an extension of this principle. It doesn’t really make less sense than her ability does in general. Remember: reset points are not really time travel, they’re a game mechanic and the impression of time travel is purely illusory. Going back to your last save point is more of a geographical change than a temporal one. And while it’s possible that there could be a logically coherent way to think about time travel, ‘immortality’, taken literally, is an incoherent concept. Something that can’t die, can’t be alive in the first place.
I was thinking that her save point only worked as long as the flame survived. As such, my impression was that if someone destroyed the save point, then the connection to the past is broken, thus she would not be able to go back to when she created the save point.
Well, hopefully, Akamatsu-sensei gives us more info about this.
Exactly.
Anyway, what you are discussing is the perfect paradox. Some time travel stuff (Doctor Who for example) gets away with some small paradox issues, but Kirie violates every paradox element I can think of.
I honestly can’t believe that people thought the blonde was Asuna. Not only is it the wrong shade, but Asuna was nowhere near that tall. On top of that, she would probably be in her signature twin tails regardless, just for the sake of identification on Akamatsu’s part.
Asuna is like a more logical battle companion than Ayaka. Considering Asuna’s partnership with Negi in Negima, it would seem to make more sense for her to be alongside Negi. I think that’s what is playing a role in perceptions of whom the person is in that image.
My current bet is Eva in her Yukihime form. The dress seems to match this http://postimg.org/image/ti68qa027/ (note the frills in the arms and end of dress).
Interesting. I had forgotten about that dress. If Eva were freed from the curse 80 years ago, then I could see her being part of the group.
Tbh I believe this is Ayala and that akatmatsu is toying with our ability to predict which timeline this is
I agree that Akamatsu-sensei is trolling fans. ^_^
Damn, another stinking flashback. So they’re still dead. Thanks, but I’m still not interested on picking tossed crumbs like a hungry dog.
*lol* I guess I’m a hungry dog and then some. ^_~
Fate is alive. Eva is alive.
That makes it not just crumbs, but an appetizers. Of course, if Akamatsu does not serve another course soon, you might have a point.
*lol* All this food talk has me hungry. ^_^;
Off-topic:
I found a translated Tenchi Muyo! novel: http://tenchiforum.com/universe/tenchiforum-presents-one-visitor-after-another-hexagram-of-love/
Unfortunately, it’s from Hasegawa and not one of the K-sensei’s (although I think I heard in the last Tenchicast that they are worked on as well). But hey, we’ll take whatever novel is given to us! Right, guys?
Yeah, they told me about that. I haven’t read it yet, but I did grab it. I was already aware of Hasegawa-sensei’s remarks, which I had on the FAQ for some time.
Does no one here ever noticed that the side ponytail of Setsuna is in the wrong side?
I did notice. I would say this is Yuuna, but it can’t be, can it? Or could it be?
Scanlated version is out (by MS). And i have to say the ending is a bit surprising.
I did get a look at the Chinese scan yesterday, so I did see the surprise at the end. Figures. *lol*
I know what you mean by surprise at he end.
For those worried that this is a flashback chapter, then don’t…. This is actually more of a explain action chapter.
Also in regards to fates strongest Mage title I think it refers to him being the strongest earth Mage…
Anyways I think I now what ikuu secret weapon is… And it definitely won’t work on fate since chachamaru artefact was used on him in the past
Yeah, more exposition. And yeah, if Ikkuu’s weapon is Chachamaru’s old pactio artifact, then Fate won’t be scratched by it.
I thought the Catelite is merely a distraction? They aren’t actually counting on it to take Fate down (we know that doesn’t work), merely to distract him long enough, to get Kirie in physical contact with Fate. In other words, the Catelite is meant to buy time, whether or not it would succeed in that role, is another issue altogether.
I don’t get why people are behaving as if the group intends to take out Fate with the Catelite – it’s merely a stage of the overall plan, to get Kirie to Fate.
But, the plan is now in tatters, after the twist at the end. I’ll be honest, I didn’t see it coming, and I’m very interested to see whether there is going now, after the ending of this chapter.
The Satellite is a distraction, but it wouldn’t be much of one, even without the twist at the end.
The catelite has extreme destructive power but it was predictable that the averruncus series would not be fazed by it (tho fate was taken out of the picture for a bit)
True enough.
Mhm using Al Iskandariya would be just a little bit dangerous, they are in a heavily populated area with the space elevator practically next door. The Catelite is pretty much a weapon of mass destruction so I’m a bit afraid of the potential collateral damage…
Well, it is not like it is a threat to Fate. The scope could the blast could be tightly focused, but your point is taken.
Well given that 80 years have past… there a good chance that Fate and Negi are way way stronger than when they last fought.
Also it quite interesting for them to note that Fate experience a sudden change in personality and action and the fact that Evageline’s keeps dodging the ‘what happen to Negi?’ question… it seems a much darker force or action is at play that we are not aware of and this all links back to 2065 with the battle between the Mage of Beginning’s and Negi Springfield who apparently died during that fight, the man who could rival Evageline and Fate if not surpass them…
Unless Negi had died of a natural death… it quite worrying that someone more stronger than Fate and Eva acturally exist out there…
And I figure there is. ^_^
I read the translated chapter… and I’m taking back what I said, those crazy morons are totally going to use the Catelite…
Satellite — yeah.
