Hayate the Combat Butler Chapter 455 Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Hayate the Combat Butler Chapter 455 MangaHayate is ready to give up, so Nagi slaps him for the defeatist attitude. Ayumu agrees that they shouldn’t give up, so they open up the restaurant, which attracts large crowds. After an hour, Ayumu and Nagi are exhausted and quit to return to the hotel.

Elsewhere Fumi and Sharna are getting enjoying a cold coffee beverage in the summer heat. Fumi’s talk of nudity causes Sharna to figure she wants to go to the beach, so the two go to the beach in Shonan, which is where Hayate and company are. There, Fumi reveals her dream to feed fish with a fish sausage, but upon learning there are no tropical fish in the area, Fumi is disappointed. When she tries to open up the fish sausage package, she can’t and becomes frustrated, throwing the package on the ground.

Ikusa picks it up and opens it for Fumi. Having heard Fumi’s dream, Ikusa says he hopes that one day, beautiful tropical fish come to this area. With that, Ikusa walks away, watched by Fumi. Sharna is shocked when she learns that Fumi has fallen in love with this stranger who helped her. She decides she needs to stalk him since the deepest love begins with that.

Meanwhile, Hayate is alone and wondering what he will do now.

Thoughts/Review:

Heh!heh!heh! Hata-sensei trolls us again, but Fumi-chan was awesomeness in this chapter. ^_^

I loved how Nagi slapped Hayate for giving up, but then I had to laugh when both she and Ayumu bailed out on him. Why do I think Kotetsu will show up somehow? ^_~

Shifting the story unexpectedly to Fumi and Sharna was jarring, but having Fumi’s remarks on going around nude made me laugh, so all’s well. ^_^

Fumi’s unrealistic expectations, based on her misconception of Finding Nemo, was amusing to me, but not too funny. However, her falling for Ikusa when he shows up to open her fish sausage package was unexpected and delightful. Fumi’s decision to start stalking Ikusa made me laugh out loud.

She looks pretty cute as a girl in love, eh? ^_~

You know, now that I think about it, maybe it will be Fumi and Sharna helping with the restaurant when (1) Fumi finds Hayate there and (2) Fumi learns that Hayate is Ikusa’s brother. That could be quite amusing.

Well, one thing is for sure; one never knows where Hata-sensei is going to take a chapter from week to week. That’s part of the fun of Hayate the Combat Butler. I can’t wait to see what fun awaits. ^_^

I laughed so much reading this chapter that i´m actually going to read this series.
I loved Sharna as a character and the jokes about finding nemo and Touma´s Imagine breaker (a character from a light novel) made me stick to this series.

Sharna and Fumi are later additions to the manga cast, but they are a great comedy team. ^_^

As to Touma, I missed the parody about his ability. I have watched the Index and Railgun anime titles as well as having read the Railgun manga series.

Glad you liked the latest chapter. ^_^

  2. High points of this chapter for me:
    1. Nagi b|tchslappin Hayate
    2. Fumi’s “love is stalking.”

Even Hayate should have seen Nagi (especially Nagi) and Ayumu bailing out on him given their track record. I’m at least glad that they’re out of the way for now and Hayate’s been left to find a way to win this competition by himself.

I didn’t mention this in my review, but in hindsight, I was a little disappointed in Nagi quitting on Hayate, even though this has taken us to fun roads with Fumi. Ayumu quitting really surprised me because it meant less time with her beloved Hayate. However, it does give Nagi cover.
