Hayate the Combat Butler Chapter 471 Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Hayate asks Maria if he can borrow ¥128,500 to keep his promise made during the quest to get Nagi back into the mansion. Maria isn’t interested, but after she and Nagi hear the story, they give him the money.

Hayate goes to a decrepit shack under a bridge, which is where Konoha, the girl who helped him at Mikado’s house, lives with her mother and younger brother. When Hayate arrives, he finds Konoha’s sickly mother and helps her into her futon, who doesn’t want to be called old, and who turns his kindness into something sexual, which she wants.

Konoha’s little brother, Kanta, arrives, and believes his mom when she says Hayate’s going to be Kanta’s new Papa. Konoha arrives to put a stop this this, apologizing for their actions. The two head out to talk, where Hayate gives the relieved girl the package of money. Hayate understands her situation, having grown up poor and having to work hard to support his family.

Their talk is interrupted when Kanta realizes this is the “Hayate-sama” that his sister has been going on and on about. He spills the beans completely, letting Hayate know that his sister is in love with Hayate. She tries to deny it, but she calls him Hayate-sama, letting him know it was all true.

Since Hayate feels guilty at having caused Konoha the loss of her job, he offers to help her find a new job. This is observed by Konoha’s mother, who is pleased with her daughter’s move.

Thoughts/Review:

So, we get rid of Ruka, and then we add Konoha. I didn’t expect to see her again, but she’s here, and now Hayate’s going to find her a job. So, does this mean she’s going to be around for a while, thus officially part of Hayate’s harem?

It seems a lot of folks expect her to get a job at the mansion or Yukari-chan House. We know Klaus will end up at Yukari-chan House. Considering that Konoha was never seen at Nagi’s mansion, or even hinted at (that I recall), I tend to doubt she’ll work there, or if she does, it won’t be for long.  Plus, I can’t imagine Nagi wanting a strange, new girl around her Hayate. The girls of Yukari-chan House are one thing, but a new girl, that’s something else entirely.

My guess? Something unexpected. Maybe she starts working at Cafe Donguri. After all, Ayumu should start working at a family restaurant sometime soon.

Oh, and the mother basically hitting on Hayate…that was so wrong to me, but I admit, I did chuckle at that.

Anyway, after showing signs that he wanted to really press forward on the plot, suddenly Hata-sensei sits on his duff and starts something unexpected. We’ll see where this goes.
