Hayate the Combat Butler Chapter 530 Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Hayate the Combat Butler Chapter 530 Fumi laments not making money on rap, but she still wants to get rich quick. Android Shii arrives to agree with her master, citing how food paid for by someone else tastes the best. As such, she believes she believes they can sponge of the government or something. Sharna protests, asking them to come up with an idea that has hopes and dreams in it. Shii comes up with an insurance fraud scenario, but Sharna rejects it because it is illegal.

Shii uses an Android phone to search Google for a dream-filled job and  comes up with being someone who posts videos on YouTube. Fumi questions whether these people make money, so Shii cites some YouTube posters making ¥200 million a year. Fumi is sold on the idea, so she decides to put Mentos in a soft drink and upload the video. Sharna rejects this as not being original, which Shii agrees with. As such, Shii proposes animal videos.

Going home, an excited Fumi attempts to get her dog Armageddon to do something she can record on her camera phone. To their shock, Armageddon gets up on his hind legsm walks to the fridge, pours himself a drink, then sits on the couch to enjoy his beverage. They then observe Armageddon get on the Internet, view a video of himself singing,  text a chick to meet her alone, then put on a hoodie and walk down the path next to the river into the setting sun. Seeing this, Fumi decides to get a real job.

Thoughts/Review:

Har! Well, I guess this means Hata-sensei isn’t as keen on rushing the manga to a finish, seeing how he dropped the current storyline to do a purely gag chapter with Fumi, Sharna, and Shii-chan.

Fumi is usually pretty entertaining, and this chapter is no exception. Adding the android Shii-chan to the mix has added to the fun of Fumi’s adventures with Sharna.

The notion of becoming a YouTube phenomenon isn’t new. I remember when web comic strips were first making waves, there were a few who actually did quite well at it, but there were tons more who wanted to make lots of money, but didn’t. Ditto blogging. There are a few who can earn a living doing this (MUCH harder these days), but most can’t.

Still, I have great respect for those who have YouTube channels that manage to earn a living from it. It isn’t easy to do, and in reality, the folks who make a lot of money have to work to keep that money flowing. So it wouldn’t be as easy as Fumi thinks. 😉

Anyway, what made this chapter so funny was the dog Armageddon doing the completely unexpected and revealing that he’s already an Internet sensation (named Armage-san) on his on, complete with walking on his hind legs. I laughed so hard at the absurdity of it all.

Hayate the Combat Butler Chapter 530

In the end, Hayate the Combat Butler chapter 530 turned out to be a pretty funny gag chapter.

    A rival for Tama-chan! Haha.

It’s good to see these kind of chapters, but I believe that everything on this one is meant to sent some kind of base to Fumi-chan being the future President for the academy (and hogging all the school’s budget for herself haha).

It’s (not) strange that this can be another completely different manga from Hayate, titled “Sharna-chan’s everyday headache”.

Ha!ha! That’s true. If Armageddon can actually speak, a chapter where the two meet could be quite funny.

      Ha!ha! True.
