UQ Holder Chapter 132

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

UQ Holder Chapter 132As a Magia Erebea enhanced Touta battles MotB-Negi, Eva a light-haired Karin attacks Jack, only to get punched in the gut. Santa goes after Al, who’s impressed with Santa’s design as a revenant. Al uses necromancy to summon undead skeletons to attack Santa. Yue and Nodoka are snared by a binding spell, but Yue is already breaking free. Kuroumaru wonders if it is possible to do what Asuna says and keep their opponents engaged for 37 seconds.

Meanwhile, Touta attempts to reach out to the real Negi. A massive form, composed of the dead, begins to rise. MotB-Negi is going for a finishing blow, but is stopped when Yukihime and Fate step in to help block the blow. Fate casts a spell that apparently pulls the souls out of the bodies, revealing the true forms of the quartet. Negi is impressed by Fate’s spell. Fate tells Negi that Touta is the first artificial immortal, thus his plan to save humanity is to turn them all into immortals. As such, this will rid the world of suffering.

Eva rejects the plan, angering Fate. Negi is amused, then reminds Fate that his plan will save the victors of the future, but Ialda is driven by the failures of the past. Fate protests that the plan will work. Negi thinks it is possible, but Negi would have to die in the process. Fate is devastated by this and Negi’s willingness to die to make the plan work.

Negi calls Touta over, telling his grandson that he wants Touta to follow Negi’s footsteps in following Nagi. That’s because there are brief periods of time where Negi gains control. During these times, Negi can help Nodoka and Yue. Negi stops when he sees Eva’s sad face. Eva hugs Negi, causing Negi to cry and apologize for not being able to save Nagi. Negi is passing on instructions to Eva on what to do, but she cuts him off, knowing what’s in store.

The connection is broken, so Yukihime and Fate immediately seal MotB-Negi in ice. MotB-Negi immediately breaks free. In 0.01 seconds, Fate is defeated. In 0.03 seconds, Yukihime is defeated. MotB-Negi goes for Touta, who escapes thanks to having just mastered Negi’s lightning form. The two battle, causing major damage to the tower in the process. However, Touta’s lack of experience causes MotB-Negi to gain the advantage, where he again asks Touta to come with him.

Thoughts/Review:

The Negima story continues to be told in UQ Holder chapter 132. I like this.

The Battle

For Eva vs. Jack, Eva uses a new attack. “Holy Fist” and “Grace of God.” I’m not surprised that even though Jack couldn’t dodge the hits, he was able to absorb them and sucker punch Eva. However, we lose track of Eva after she’s punched. She then shows up as Yukihime to assist Touta. So where was Jack to prevent that from happening?

Update: Pheeb pointed out to me that although she looks remarkably like Eva, this is in fact Karin, who’s hair has turned a light color (possibly white). Her hair started changing color in chapter 131 when she and Kirie first attacked Jack. Now things make more sense to me. I just didn’t notice that the girl in the images had Karin’s hair cut.

For Santa vs. Al, I liked how Al praised Sayoko’s necromancy skills in creating Santa. I also liked Al’s interest in Sayoko’s life and in Santa’s. Considering his pactio artifact, Al’s interest doesn’t surprise me. What did surprise me is that Al has some necromancy skills. Should UQ Holder continue as a manga and with it, Al as a character, I’d like to see this part of Al explored more. Why does he know necromancy at all?

For Kuroumaru vs Yue and Nodoka, Kuroumaru’s solution to bind the pair reminded me of Negi’s binding of Eva and Chachamaru in volume 3 of Negima. As happened there, the trapped Yue and Nodoka are quickly escaping here. Still, I like how Kuroumaru was able to trap this dynamic duo in the first place.

The question that remains is what Asuna is planning that requires 37 seconds.

A Meeting of Kids

I’m not sure if Fate’s spell pulled the souls out of Touta, Eva, Negi, and him, but I do note that it caused all of them to appear in their true form as kids. Eva was turned immortal as a kid, which we already knew about. Fate was created as an eternal kid, so that’s not surprising. Touta already was a kid, but outside his body, he was without Magia Erebea.

UQ Holder Chapter 132

Negi showing up as a kid would seem to confirm that Negi’s true form is that of a kid. That would suggest that like Eva, he’s using illusionary magic to appear as an adult. And that would make sense in a lot of ways.

The meeting finally revealed Fate’s plan for the world. Frankly, I think his plan to turn all humans into immortals is a silly one. I understand that he thinks this will get rid of suffering and thus MotB won’t suffer any more, but I think it is still foolish.

One big reveal from the meeting is that Negi will have control over himself from time to time as Nagi had done in Negima. We still aren’t clear how MotB could be sealed under the World Tree at Mahora and still roam. But maybe the principle is the same as how MotB is able to bring Nagi back now.

And speaking of Nagi, I guess this means he is truly dead. Eva’s sad look and Negi’s tearful apology would seem to confirm that. To me, it doesn’t make sense that Negi would sacrifice his dad though. Negi has always been about finding that solution that no one else could find. That’s why I theorized that Negi may have come up with a deal with MotB to spare Nagi. Akamatsu-sensei doesn’t come out and say Nagi is dead, only that Negi couldn’t save him. So I figure it is 99% likely that Nagi is dead. I would prefer he were still sealed under the World Tree, just in limbo.

Super Touta Returns

I don’t think we’ve seen Super Touta in a long while. What I mean by that is where Touta suddenly masters someone else’s power. Here, Touta masters Negi’s lightning form. However, since this has long been an established trait of Touta’s, I didn’t mind. I couldn’t help but notice it though.

Still, even though Touta is able to now take lightning form, I liked that Negi still schooled him. With Negi’s superior experience, that’s exactly how it should be.

The fun part of Touta’s second battle with Negi in lightning form is that they heavily damage the tower. We didn’t get to see it fall, but I think it would be neat to see that happen in the next chapter. Frankly, the total destruction of the tower would be a very interesting change, especially since getting to the top was always Touta’s goal.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

As usual, I’m way behind. I should have had this written hours ago. But, here are some final thoughts of mine.

  • I think we have confirmation that Nodoka and Yue are real based on Negi’s desire to work with Touta during Negi’s moments of control. I hope that’s the case.
  • What’s Cutlass doing now?
  • What is Karin doing as part of the plan? (Update: She was the one attacking Jack.)
  • I get the feeling that Akamatsu-sensei still isn’t quite used to doing these longer chapters. Hopefully, he continues to improve.
  • I also feel that the story is being constructed so that if the anime fails and the manga sales don’t improve, UQ Holder can end by wrapping up the Negima story. However, if the anime is a success and the manga does well, UQ Holder can continue beyond the Negima story.

In the end, UQ Holder chapter 132 continues the Negima story. For me, that’s not a bad thing at all.

  1. Yue Ayase says:

Negi drops something of interest near the end of the chapter. He mentions something about Yue and Nodoka before Eva interupts him. I think it’s all but clear they’re the real deal at this point but I wonder if what Fate wanted is what happened to those two? Rakan/Albireo are already immortal for one reason or another but Yue/Nodoka are the odd ones out here. Maybe they’ll join UQ after this section of the story is over? I really, really want those two to have a sit down with UQ (especially Eva) and talk about what’s going on.

Also something that bothered me for a long time… Nagi was taken over by the MotB not long after Negi was born but was able to rescue Negi when he was young. I always thought it was weird. It’s sorta handwaved here but explained that Nagi could be himself at times. Too bad Negi basically confirms that Nagi is no more. It really puts a dark spin on Negima as a whole. Negi’s journey led him nowhere but to a wasted (if immortal) life that he never ended up accomplishing his goal in. Really, do any of the main characters get a happy ending? Asuna is still sealed, Negi ultimately failed in his objective and Yue/Nodoka might be doomed to be live forever. It seems too cruel to abandon most of Negima’s main cast to depressing fates. Hopefully the surviving cast of 3-A can have a nice chat when this is all said and done.

As a whole the chapter wasn’t too bad, but pretty damn depressing when you think about all those things. I guess the big question is: does Ken have the stones to end his most popular MC? There’s no way he can give a Negi an unhappy ending, right? As poor as Negima’s ending was, it’s nowhere near as harrowing and depressing as UQ’s timeline.

      I agree.

I wonder if what Fate wanted is what happened to those two?

I had the feeling that Fate wanted to be the one to be possessed instead of Negi.

Yue/Nodoka are the odd ones out here. Maybe they’ll join UQ after this section of the story is over? I really, really want those two to have a sit down with UQ (especially Eva) and talk about what’s going on.

I think that would be neat to have them there.

Yes, I agree. For starters, how does MotB-Nagi unseal himself to go wandering to a fro on the Earth? Not only that, how does he happen to be at the right place at the right time to save Negi? And what the smeg happened to Arika?

To be honest, I think Akamatsu-sensei had one idea in mind when he initially wrote that, then decided to go a different route. To me, if Nagi turned himself into Negi, it made more sense that in the future, he’d travel back to the past to make sure his staff is passed on at the right time. But that theory of mine isn’t how the story went, so we are left with a plot hole.

Too bad Negi basically confirms that Nagi is no more. It really puts a dark spin on Negima as a whole. Negi’s journey led him nowhere but to a wasted (if immortal) life that he never ended up accomplishing his goal in. Really, do any of the main characters get a happy ending?

I hear ya. I know that on the AnimeSuki forums, Hata suspects that when all is said and done, we’ll get some reset that allows for the “good end” of Negima to happen. To me, that sucks just as bad ’cause it means that Touta and UQH never were. As such, the “good end” I wanted to see is one where in the end, Touta saves Negi, Nagi, and then there could have been some fun over Eva. 😉

We’ll see what happens. With Kirie’s reset ability, it may be possible that she’s able to reset everyone to a good end.

      • Yuuki says:

I do agree that we will probably end up in Negima’s good ending buy the end of UQH, because whats the point of wrapping up Negima’s story if it doesn’t actually lead to Negima’s ending ? Though I don’t think its gonna be as bleak as you imagine. Akamatsu will probably merge the timelines or something in a way that gives everyone a happy ending. After all he went out of his way to give Negima a happy ending, why wouldn’t he do the same thing for UQ Holder ?

With that said this will probably mean some time traveling will be involved later down the road which would leave me conflicted cause on one hand time travel stories are really easy to screw up and can be really confusing but on the other hand it might lead to the UQH cast meeting the young Negima cast which would be the best kind of fanservice for me atleast. though who knows we still have a ways to go and the story could go in a different direction and I could be completely wrong so this is just my speculation for now.

The only way this could work is if Touta and company escape the timeline they are in for a new, happy timeline. And as you said, time traveling may be involved, or as I’m indicating, dimension jumping between timelines.

      • Seimei says:

        Two things :

        1. Regarding the fact that Tota controls the Raitei Taiso so well, I must confess that it surprised me. But then I remember something important. Between the fight against Ishkur and the return to the senkyokai, eight months elapsed. 8 months during which, Dana continued to train Tota and his group. To this must be added the four months that Tota spent in the frozen-timet with Kirie. So Tota trained 1 year.

That he keeps the Raitei form longer therefore is not surprising. In addition, it must always absorb the magic (he absorbed a lightning-bolt of Negi just before its transformation if you look good).

        2. Personally I have already said, but I find it interesting that in this timeline, the heroes have not managed to accomplish everything. In fact I’m quite “happy” to know that if Negi’s plan to save the mundus-magicus succeeded, he and his friends, on the other hand, could not save Negi and he died, and that is NOT a perfect success. And I hope that will remain in this way.

For I recall that the good ending, as we know exist already, that was that of the epilogue of Negima. In fact, it is almost certain now that we are in the B timeline (the one where Asuna wakes up in 2135). Thus, the good end will take place, when Asuna returns to the past, thus creating an alternative timeline in the multiverse, without denying or erasing the timeline of UQ (is the principle of a multiverse like Chao explains^^), that of The epilogue of Negima.
        The loop will be looped.

        Conclusion :

Chao Linchen’s World (timeline C) : Bad ending (mundus-magicus destroyed and 100 years of wars)

UQ Holder world (Timeline B (very probable)) neutral ending : Mundus-magicus saved, magic reveled to the world, but Asuna sealed, climats cataclysms in 2050, Nagi dead, and Negi posseded (perhaps dead at the end of UQ?)

Epilogue of Negima (timeline A) Good endings : Asuna is here, the magic is reveled to the world Nagi and the mundus-magicus are all saved.

Personnally, I prefer, the neutral ending. I don’t like the bad endings, but I prefer the I prefer the endings in half-tones, having required heavy sacrifices (like the ending of the first anime of FMA or the endings of Akame ga kill for exemple, rather than the perfectly happy ends of fairy tales, even if I like this too.^^

ps : On the other hand, where we are both perfectly in agreement, I actually hope that in the end there will be no “resetting of the timeline in general” , This would mean that all that Akamatsu wrote from 2013 up to x year, would have served nothing and would have been a waste of time for him and the reader.

But I really do not think he will do that. On the one hand because, as I said, it would mean to reduce to its own history established in UQ (which UQ did not do with Negima, in spite of what some will say, Is an alternative timeline, not a reset, and it is the exploration of a timeline already confirmed since it is 90-95% sure that it is Of the “Timeline B”). The happy ending of Negima (timeline A) is therefore not questioned.

On the other hand, if Akamatsu evoked the principle of multiverse at the end of Negima is not not to use it in UQ

And finally, again, there is no need to put UQ Holder into question, since the circumstances leading to a good ending are already established, thanks to Asuna’s time travel at the end of Negima.

On the other hand I want to clarify a point. You say that if the animated ace of success, UQ Holder could continue after the time has come or Tota will have defeated the MOTB. You seem to think that UQ Holder relies on Negima until he gets enough success to develop his own story.

Conversely, the main purpose of UQ is and has always been, to put an end to the story of Negima. All the rest (intrigues on Tota, other members of UQ, noble vampires ect), are only bonus added around So for me the MOTB will be whatever happens, the final enemy of UQ Holder It seems clear that they will not defeat him now – I even think that the “37 seconds” is a countdown after which UQ members will be able to escape and take flight away from “Negi Yolda”, For comme back another day, when they are ready.

        • AstroNerdBoy says:

As it happens, I’d forgotten about this, but last night, I was reading volume 9 of the manga and was reminded of where Touta first learned the technique.

As for the timelines, I’m really hoping this is something completely new. That way it can be part of the Negima universe, yet separate. But it is hard to say how things will go. Akamatsu-sensei may well go the path some folks with good prediction track records have predicted. We’ll see though.

  2. pheeph says:

Just so you know… that’s Karin fighting Rakan, not Eva…

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

When I read your comment, I thought, “There’s no way that was Karin. She had blonde hair for crying out loud.” Going back, I saw that her character design with the light hair and bangs makes her look exactly like Eva. I went back to chapter 131 and discovered that Karin’s hair went from black to light when she and Kirie first attacked Jack.

So yeah, thanks for the correction.

  3. ryuya says:

Karin is the one fighting Rakan. As for Touta, he used the lightning form earlier against Ruin Ishkur.

  4. Mz says:

Also that binding spell Kuromaru used on Yue & Nodoka is probably the same as the one Setsuna used on the two teachers and Chao during the Mahora Magic Festival

  5. ryuya says:

I am kinda surprised to read that some of you thought Nagi was still alive. They explained that Ialda takes a new host once the previous one is beaten and he only appeared as an illusion so I guessed it was the case.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

This would mean that Negi had to kill Nagi, and that doesn’t seem like something Negi would do. The theory went that Negi may have made a deal with MotB so that Nagi does not die.

  6. Rob C. says:

Touta is suppose to be a key with this, perhaps because he can absorb power as well possibly cancel it out? I’m not sure how he is the successful recreation of Negi.

Fate’s plan to make everyone happy as immortals is insane. Look at Eve, she miserable. DIane mentioned (her Mentor as whom is on of the old immortal vampires) that her felow immortals were all miserable (if not insane) with her being the exception. Fate couldn’t have though of this out properly.

Sensei must have though of some key factor to end the series would be when Negi was able to communicate among these brief moments of control.

The scene was moving for older fans of the franchise, but barely gives idea where its going.

I suspect taking hint from negi, Touta has indeed joined MoTB in order spare everyone else from further harm from their mutal mayhem.

P.S. What IS Tota/Touta proper spelling of his name anyways? I keep seeing 2 versions of it i at lost which one right spelling.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Fate couldn’t have though of this out properly.

He’s acting purely on emotion and his desperation to save Negi.

P.S. What IS Tota/Touta proper spelling of his name anyways? I keep seeing 2 versions of it i at lost which one right spelling.

If you notice in the manga, they spell it Tōta, denoting the long o sound. In Hiragana, Touta’s name is spelled とうた. This would accurately be spelled out as Touta. That’s because と is “to”, う is “u”, and た is “ta”. The う (u) in this case denotes a long o sound in Japanese. However, in English, folks with zero knowledge of Japanese would probably not read Touta as “Toh-ta”, thus Tōta. For me, I don’t have the ASCII codes memorized to do long vowel sounds, so I just use the “Touta” spelling and have done. 😛

    • Dome says:

I guess the reason why Fate is willing to keep his immortality plan is probably because he is not human. He is a construct of the Lifemaker , so he shouldn’t be able to truly understand the problems of the other immortals, as he does not have a human mind unlike the others who were mostly humans at the beginning.

  7. Mattcgw says:

The chapters pacing and writing, is an improvement compared to previous chapters. So Sensei is improving, or his editor stopped being useless.

So fates plan is basically what everyone called it to be, when he appeared. A reverse cosmo, instead of immortality via simulation, actual long life.
It’s still no less stupid, than it sounds. Their are easier ways to weaken Yaldabaoth’s hold on Negi, than that. Like mass extinction, of the human race on earth.

Also, something humorous, I’m looking forward to the brain aneurysms that the VS Wiki will have over karin’s Lightspeed attack and Jacks subsequent reaction power scaling that comes off it. When UQ Holder’s anime air’s at least.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Yes, but Fate knows that Negi wouldn’t approve of that.

      Ha!ha!

I think that is the MotB’s plan, to remove the source of her suffering, which is the voices of the ‘losers’ or pain of suffering of former dead victims in the past and present, but that only kills the future suffering of the losers.

Fate’s plan does the same – is to remove any more deaths – but Negi finds holes in Fafe’s plan, stating the MotB’s power is from those of the past and present, and not the future.

Stopping future dead doesn’t change anything for the MotB still has the ones from the past and present which is the source of her power. When humans become immortal it would stop the MotB from getting more voices of the losers, but that is it.

Fate to me, is someone always wanting more power. His desire was for him to be where Negi is now, to be with the MotB as possibly what he was really created to be. I think that is his ultimate goal, moreso with him talking about the MotB in tears and compassionate words when he left the Konoe twins in the water, and now telling Negi it was supposed to be him.

Freeing Nodoka and Yue, the UQH team will gain two assets to predict what the Negi-MotB will do and where – and prepare for it, as in setting up something to trap and then free Negi and hopefully Nagi (if anything). They would learn what the MotB’s weaknesses are and exploit them too, along with any of Negi’s team. I hope they inform us on how Negi ended up where he is, and what He tried, and how it failed to stop the MotB.

      • sanchi says:

uummm … that is … till we find out Asuna’s plan, that is supposed to happen in less than 37 seconds, and I hope it doesn’t take more than 1 or 2 chapters for it to happen…

  8. Blacki says:

Is it only me or did Fate gave of a real BL feeling here? o.0

I bet the fangirls of NegiXFate are fangasmn now…..

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Is it only me or did Fate gave of a real BL feeling here? o.0

Going back to the Negima days, there has been a ship of Fate x Negi among some fans. So yeah, it wouldn’t be surprising to me if Akamatsu-sensei is tossing them a bone.

  9. sanchi says:

I thought Tota wasn’t immortal from the beginning, it was after drinking Eva’s blood and becoming a vampire (that doesn’t have the craving to drink blood and walking in the bright sunshine) and immortal, so that cut off limbs can be healed instantly. So Fate’s theories are missing some important points like how Tota was immortal. Funny Eva didn’t correct him. He also stopped aging too. Kinda important points.

Fate’s plan is like him, too off-the-wall, and not realistic and practical. Negi as himself displays much more wisdom and common sense. Where is Fate’s team that fought the UQ guys at the tower terminal? I’m sure the UQ guys could use some help. Even Fate’s plan to free Negi by killing him doesn’t work for Fate who thought it up and now can’t or doesn’t want to kill Negi. Strange.

Is it me, or is Negi already accepting dying?

The time reset power of Kirie I think will be key, its been used in the past to wln hopeless defeated battles earlier. With Nodoka and Yue tied or occupied by Kuromaru, she may be free to do that. Also save the tower from destruction and innocent lives lost.

Though Jack is being himself with his comments, I hope Karin kicks his a*s …. uumm …. bums. But I’m kinda worried how she handled Jack’s punch, but at least no weapon can harm her.

What is still missing is why Negi-MotB needs Tota, and for what purpose. Seems we hear the repeat that Tota is the key piece to something to save the world but from what????. It gets a bit boring hearing it over and over without any new information.

Did we just see a glimpse of where UQH is heading when Negi advised Tota to follow his footsteps (not like this is new to us) like how “His Father before him” (Star Wars quote from Luke).

I’m surprised Eva hasn’t gone all out and use her power as the Ice Princess like she did against Fate, and using her ice powers fighting on water where she can use that water as ice. Make it feel the earlier chapters was a totally different story.

    • sanchi says:

Even Fate’s plan to free Negi by killing him doesn’t work for Fate who thought it up and now can’t or doesn’t want to kill Negi

Correction, Fate’s plan was to save Negi, and Eva’s plan was to kill him. My mistake, so Fate is true to what he wants to do.

    • Rob C. says:

We’ll find out in the next entry what is going on. Especially after how the chapter ended with Touta taking off after Negi. I personally don’t like the jumbling from random actions per chapter. It’s bit confusing in sense. I do buy the volumes of UQ Holder despite already having read the chapters. I find having them in volume book form is easier to digest whats going on. Admittedly it maybe while until that happens for these latest entries.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I thought Tota wasn’t immortal from the beginning

I’d have to go back and reread UQ Holder. In the first chapter, I believe it is implied that Touta became immortal after drinking Eva’s blood. If he were an immortal already, he wouldn’t need to do that. It is possible that Eva didn’t know, but somehow, I find it hard to believe that Eva doesn’t already know most all the facts regarding Touta’s creation.

Is it me, or is Negi already accepting dying?

      That’s how I read it.

The time reset power of Kirie I think will be key, its been used in the past to wln hopeless defeated battles earlier.

Yeah. I can actually see Kirie resetting time, taking the entire UQH crew with her, to prevent Negi from being taken over and saving Nagi at the same time.

I’m surprised Eva hasn’t gone all out and use her power as the Ice Princess like she did against Fate, and using her ice powers fighting on water where she can use that water as ice.

Yeah, Akamatsu-sensei hasn’t had Eva go all out and that is odd.

  10. sanchi says:

A bit more confusion. In a few chapters earlier, in the phantasmagoria the MotB changed to Nagi and also Negi, which confuses and stops Eva in her attack, which Tota then complains on Eva for that. So some part of Nagi has to be still in the MotB, so I don’t think Nagi is completely gone or dead. If Negi took completely over, then Nagi shouldn’t have appeared at all.

So maybe — as a twist to looking at this — maybe when Negi was saying he couldn’t save Nagi, he meant failing to free Nagi from the MotB, and not so much that Nagi died, and now the MotB appears to have both of them, switching to either at will. It would make the MotB a more formidable adversary with the abilities Nagi and Negi have. Interesting that the MotB can only switch one at a time so far.

The other thing I am questioning, is the MotB’s ability to mind control over other people like she did to Eva, Kirie, Karin, and Kuromaru and used them for her purpose as she did in the phantasmagoria, can she use them again to sway the UQ team against Tota. Maybe freeing Nodoka and Yue from this mind control of the MotB is in the near future, seeing that Negi mentions them to Tota before being interrupted.

Fate’s ability to separate Negi is a good thing, if they can find a way to keep the MotB separate. Tota’s original plan was to separate Negi out of the MotB (by almost killing Negi) so one piece of the original plan is now possible, the part of trapping the MotB hasn’t been detailed other than the MotB going into Tota and getting trapped. I would have though Nagi would have separated out too – but maybe the magic was specific to only Negi, Eva, and Fate. Maybe its something Fate can modify to bring back both Negi and Nagi.

If the Negima ending is the goal, Eva was on the table with Nagi, Jack, and Al. Negi arrives with some of the grown up students in the class. Eva wasn’t sitting next to Nagi either but farther away. No implied or shown romantic connections with Eva at all. Maybe this will change now.

Oh, one more thing I forgot. Yes, I agree, I was wondering what happened to (again!) Cutlass? What about Ikkuu, Honoka and Isana, Zazie, and Mana? more M.I.A. If anyone, I would think Honoka would have a more active roll in seeing Negi again, or at least Negi recognized her. With strong family traditions in Japan, I wonder if this type of confrontation is being avoided.

This is the problem of having too many characters to keep track of. Mashima-sensei (Fairy Tail) often mentions this problem when he has these ultra-massive fights between large numbers of characters.

So some part of Nagi has to be still in the MotB, so I don’t think Nagi is completely gone or dead. If Negi took completely over, then Nagi shouldn’t have appeared at all.

That’s kinda what I’m thinking, but it may be that MotB has the ability to mimic previous hosts.

Maybe freeing Nodoka and Yue from this mind control of the MotB is in the near future, seeing that Negi mentions them to Tota before being interrupted.

I think this is what Negi wants.

Mori-Sensei just broke through to a fourth week in the top 50, down 8K from 25K, but she’s doing well.

I was re-reading Mahou Sensei Negima! and i got to interesting part in Chapter 82.
This is where after Negi and Setsuna have day of enjoying the festival where Setsuna runs into Chaos. Where Setsuna asks WHO she is, she says she from Mars and relative of Negi.

Which makes me wonder if Akamatsu-sensei remembers any of this dialog. Right now in UQ Holder, the old past Negi was part of when he was 10 year old seems to be getting little fuzzy.

Was the OLD past Chaos was part of related to the Negi of now? There wasn’t 100 years of the future, Mars was indeed saved. However i do wonder if she is even part of it.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Well, we’ll see how Chao works into things, if at all.

Waiting for the next chapter I also followed your lead to re-read Negima chpt 82. In previous UQ chapters Chao’s time piece has been drawn a few times. So there have been several hints to this time watch.

I had forgotten about Setsuna in a almost ‘playboy’ style ‘bunny’ suit.

In chpt 82 Chao describes the time machine clock requiring massive amounts of magic energy. If the watch failed while in use, the holder would have

fallen into different dimension and floated in there for eternity

Negi was happy that the clocked worked in chpt 82.

If Chao is a direct descendant of Negi from a timeline in the future, Negi somehow survives.

Until now, it didn’t envoke questions in my mind like WHY did Chao would give Negi this time machine? Now its giving me some potential ideas.

Moving the MotB to a different dimension and kept there for an eternity would be a solution to imprision the MotB….if the clock would somehow fail while in use. It would clear the MotB’s mind of all the suffering since there is no earth and humans in that dimension, and the MotB cannot return from that dimension too, sorta a eternal peace for the MotB.

      Another potential story plot…

Aside from Akamatsu-sensei using it as a plot device so Negi could spend time with most of the girls in his class, back in the day, I felt this was a way for Nagi to go back in time and give Negi the staff and such. Of course that isn’t how things turned out.
