Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 71
Tonikaku Kawaii Fly Me to the Moon 71
トニカクカワイイ 71
Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:
Tsukasa introduces the old woman Nasa had been talking to as TSUKUYOMI Tokiko. Tokiko was the one who signed the marriage form. Tokiko introduces herself as Chitose’s grandmother. She teases Nasa, which irritates Tsukasa. Tokiko then proceeds to tweak Tsukasa before inviting the couple to her suite.
In Tokiko’s room, Nasa makes a formal greeting to Tokiko. She continues to troll Tsukasa and brags about her wealth. Tokiko compliments Nasa on his identifying the moonstone in her home when he visited it. As such, she feels Nasa might achieve something no one else has been able to achieve.
She then hands Nasa a paper on the Little Three Bath Bill. There’s a reward for doing all of onsens in a single day. Tsukasa is tired of Tokiko’s constant teasing. Before they leave, Tokiko advises Tsukasa to express her love with words more than she currently does. As Nasa and Tsukasa leave, Tokiko expresses her thanks to Nasa.
Thoughts/Review:
There are two troll characters in this manga series–Chitose and Kaname. With Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 71, Tokiko joins the troll group.
Ties to the Plot
During Hayate the Combat Butler, Hata-sensei often buried plot elements within jokes. As such, it took multiple volumes of that manga before I even realized there was an actual plot.
With this experience in hand, I know that the introduced plot element of Kaguya-hime in the first chapter of Tonikaku Cawaii are for real. Throughout the manga series, we’ve had hints of Tsukasa being hundreds of years old. And Hata-sensei often draws imagery of the moon in shots.
I couldn’t help but notice that with Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 71, Hata-sensei has Tokiko telling Nasa that he may be able to achieve something no one else has. While the chapter has this line of thought immediately go into a joke to fit her words, I think Hata-sensei was putting plot elements in there.
I found it interesting that Tokiko only identifies herself as Chitose’s grandmother, not Tsukasa’s. If Tsukasa is Kaguya-hime (or a character like her), then Tokiko is only a figurehead. Yes, she’s wealthy, but it would be Tsukasa who is the one with all of the actual wealth. And Tokiko mentions Nasa achieving something neither she nor anyone else could. It will be interesting finding out what that is.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
Before I wrap up my thoughts on Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 71, I have to say that I did get a kick out of Tokiko trolling Tsukasa. I hope we get to see her trolling Chitose in the future.
End the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 71 was a very fun chapter that seems to touch on the plot elements of the series.
