Akamatsu-sensei Live Stream Making UQ Holder! 164

Akamatsu-sensei Live Stream Making UQ Holder! 164

Hey gang! Although UQ Holder isn’t as popular these days, I still like the series. And it would be awesome to meet and interview AKAMATSU Ken-sensei one day. Got LOTS I’d love to talk with him about!

That aside, I recently found out via fgsfds11234 that Akamatsu-sensei did a live stream back on August 26 on YouTube, where he is working on UQ Holder! chapter 164. There are two camera feeds in the stream. The primary one is on Akamatsu-sensei. The second is on his assistants. Basically, it is a day in the life of a mangaka as the stream clocks in at 11 hours! Take a look.

He has a second one that can be seen below, which is about half the run, but still long at ~6.25 hours.

The マンガ図書館Z channel is an odd one as it has a lot of old manga slide shows on it. That includes Love Hina, so since Sensei owns the copyright to that, I guess he endorses the site.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting. And since spoilers almost never drop any more (probably due to lack of interest), this is kinda the next best thing to see UQ Holder chapter 164 spoilers. 😉

I watched a little bit while it was live, and shouted out Akamatsu, telling him that Negima was still my favourite series of all time (in English of course), and he acknowledged it and thanked me. While I’m not nearly as invested in this series as I used to be (it’s easy to forget about it since it’s monthly), I still look forward to the new chapter every month and hope to see something interesting. It was nice to see the B-Team do some work before Touta inevitably arrived to save the day. I still love most of the characters in this series and unfortunately monthly series don’t lend well to character spotlights. Spending an entire month on a character or two definitely doesn’t feel rewarding. But I’m with this series to the very end, so here’s hoping Santa does some major buttkicking again.

Cool that you managed to catch some of it. You are the second person I know who did so.

Yeah, I hear ya. But it still pays off in book form.

Don’t most series in Japan depend on original release dates and rankings to keep going? By the time a series is collected in book form, if it already did bad in magazine format, by then that won’t do it a lot of good. Especially after a commercial and critically failed anime.

They do. I think Akamatsu-sensei got more leeway though, especially since they are letting him end this his way.
