SPOILER Summary/Synopsis

Reines is playing chess with Rocco Belfeban in the Clock Tower, where they discuss Waver’s continued focus on the Holy Grail War. Meanwhile, Waver is irritated due to his favorite cafe shutting down. As such, he takes it out on his student, Flat, in class. This lecture is audited by Luviagelita Edelfelt. Luvia confronts Gray after this, since Luvia wants to make Waver her instructor. Gray assures her that Waver is working on getting the cafe reopened.

Meanwhile, Waver consults with the owners of the cafe. They inform him of a terrible rodent problem. Indeed, the wires to the fuse box have been chewed. Waver detects electricity is being absorbed by a giant rodent and goes to investigate in the old sewers under the cafe. Later, Gray calls Flat since Waver is missing. Flat, Svin, and Gray enter the sewers, where they find an injured Waver.

Svin stays with his teacher while Gray and Flat move forward. They enter an obvious feeding ground, so Gray activates her Mystic Code, Add. She defeats a giant, electrical rabbit. In doing so, she breaks a Bounded Field, revealing a new passage. There, they find the magical workshop of the mage Gueldoa Davenant. He’s not happy with the intrusion to his work on seeking the Root.

Waver shows up with Svin, who’s in beast form. Waver has deduced what Gueldoa is doing. Gueldoa is angry, but backs down when Waver mentions having already reported him to the Clock Tower and the Zoology department. Guards (from the Forvedge family?) show up to take Gueldoa  into custody. Waver’s bluff succeeded and now the cafe opens again. However, Luvia has news regarding the Holy Grail War.

Thoughts/Review

I found it very interesting that Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files 03 had character cameos from Fate/Apocrypha as well as Fate/stay night (though this character is best know for being in Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA).

For the Love of Sandwiches

So for this case, Waver doesn’t get asked to solve a case. Instead, his favorite cafe gets shut down. And naturally, Waver is going to solve their “rodent” problem so he can have his sandwiches. 😂

Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files 03

It is a shame that Waver isn’t more powerful. Whatever Gray is, she’s more powerful. And I don’t have a problem with that. But his students are more powerful than him.

Still, Waver was able to bluff Gueldoa Davenant. But I wonder if the guards that arrested him were from Caules or not.

Character Cameos

There were two major cameos from other Fate titles. The first was Luviagelita Edelfelt. She originated from the Fate/stay night series. While she has appeared in a number of Fate titles, she is best known for being a major support character in Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA. She still has some of her ojousama elements, but she doesn’t come off as haughty here.

What makes her cameo interesting is that she appears to have news on the Holy Grail War. I presume this is the 5th Holy Grail war, but we’ll see.

The second cameo came from Caules Forvedge. He was one of the Masters in the Fate/Apocrypha series (Black Berserker). Here, he’s a student and a well off one. And as I said earlier, I think guards from his family were used for taking Gueldoa into custody.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files 03 was interesting. And I liked the cameos as well.
