Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

Nasa’s former classmates Nakiri  and Kurogane are in a fancy cafe and studying. Nakiri mentions Nasa’s marriage and her own thoughts that Nasa was like her. She’s surprised that Kurogane thinks about romance. However, she’s done research on it. One romantic scenario is where the guy invites a girl to a fancy cafe for the idea of studying.

Nakiri then mentions her research about touching someone you love and kissing them. She takes his hand as practice. Nakiri attempts to imagine touching the hand of someone she loves, but no effect. Kurogane denies their touch having an effect on him. However, he thinks that a kiss might do the trick.

Nakiri finds the idea of a kiss to be nasty, but is OK with him kissing her finger. However, she finds the felling of his mouth on her fingers to not be pleasant.

Meanwhile, Nasa and Tsukasa find themselves unable to leave the cafe due to Nakiri and Kurogane.

Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 94

Well, it looks like Hata-sensei wants to give us a cliched couple where the boy can’t openly express his feelings and the girl is massively dense about the boy’s feelings. At least, that was how things were presented in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 94.

A New Character

For Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 94, we are introduced to new character Kurogane. Nakiri had been previously introduced in chapter 77. For now, it seems that Hata-sensei wants to make the cliched couple where the boy cannot muster the courage to tell the girl he likes his true feelings. This trope character is a “been there, done that” for me. Yeah, it is a common character in anime and manga, going back years (Love Hina for me.) So maybe that’s why I’m tired of this kind of character.

At the same time, said girl has zero clue about the guys feelings about her. And in Nakiri’s case, she finds the notion of kissing gross. That’s a bit of a change, I guess.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 94 has Hata-sensei bring back an old romance trope via a new hapless male character and an established, clueless female character. While the chapter was OK for what it was, I couldn’t help but be a bit disappointed.
