Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

Kaname grills Nasa on whether he had a fight with Tsukasa. Nasa doesn’t believe so, but recalls that his memory of his first kiss with Tsukasa is different than hers. As such, he decides to call her, only to discover she’s abandoned her phone at the bathhouse reception desk.

At Tokiko’s mansion, Tokiko gives Tsukasa grief over moving back in. She rightly guesses that Tsukasa is having issues over her true nature, which she’s not revealed to Nasa. Chitose arrives, happy to see Tsukasa has returned. Tokiko tells Tsukasa that a couple’s problems have to be resolved as a couple.

The doorbell rings, which Tokiko claims is the delivery of the skateboard she ordered. Instead, it is Nasa, wondering if Tsukasa returned. Tokiko lets him know the truth, then gives him some advice on how to deal with Tsukasa. Nasa promises to return once he’s regained his lost memory and leaves, marking the last time he’d ever speak to Tokiko.

Thoughts/Review:

It really is depressing how far behind I am on everything any more. That aside, I had to reread some previous chapters in order to refresh myself in order to appreciate Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 143 properly.

Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 143

Typical Woman

I hate to say this, but Tsukasa’s actions in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 143 are those of a typical woman. A guy may do something totally innocently, such as Nasa having an 100% understandable loss of memory due to blood loss and severe injuries. And yet because of this, Tsukasa gets into a huff and flees back to Tokiko’s place without telling Nasa why.

Sadly, girls are like this. For example, I recall a close, female friend of mine finally agreed to go out with me on an actual date. It was an awesome evening and night and I was blissfully unaware of any problems until we got to her house. Normally, she’d always invite me in, but that night, she couldn’t get away from me fast enough.

Some miserable weeks later, we finally talked over breakfast. Apparently, I had made some innocent remark that she took the wrong way. And in her mind, I should have known the offending remark and made amends. We made up and became best of friends again, but that was the end of any romantic entanglements.

And in this chapter, Tsukasa is being just as unreasonable with Nasa. The only difference is that she’s actually married to him. But as far as I’m concerned, there’s zero reason for Tsukasa to be upset with Nasa’s memory loss, no matter how important of a moment it was at the time for Tsukasa.

Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 143

Tokiko

We’d already been shown that Tokiko would die. Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 143 reminds us of this by making this the last time Nasa would speak with Tokiko due to her impending death. As such, I couldn’t help but feel really sad. However Nasa manages to resolve the situation with Tsukasa (and we know he will), Tokiko will apparently never get to see it.

Also of note, Tokiko calls Tsukasa “Nee-sama”, much as Chitose does. I know some folks think that the little girl from chapter 92 is Tsukasa, but I’ve always rejected that. I’ve felt the little girl was Tokiko, and the fact that Tokiko uses the term “Nee-sama” to address Tsukasa would appear to confirm my theory. (And the previous chapter did feature a little girl, whom I believe was Tokiko.)

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 143 was a sad chapter with the imminent passing of Tokiko. It is also a frustrating chapter since Tsukasa is being a typical girl who expects the man to figure out what is wrong rather than explain it to him. And I was totally wrong about Hata-sensei trolling us with her disappearance in the previous chapter. Nevertheless, I’m very interested to read what happens next.
