SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

It is time for the yearly trek to Doinaka Beach. Natsumi is forced to take adult form again to be chaperon. This year, there is a contest for men. Keroro wants to enter since the grand prize is a rare model. Natsumi pressures Fuyuki into entering as there is a signed item from 623 (Saburo). Momoka has her butler, Paul, enter to rig things for Fuyuki to win. Paul causes Fuyuki to win the spicy hot udon part of the contest as well as the swimming contest. However, Paul is done for and leaves the rest to Fuyuki. Keroro is about to win when he discovers 623’s signature on the box, making the model worthless to a collector. Kogoro ends up winning.

Keroro Gunsou Episode 120

Keroro decides to trade his stockpile of G-rations (which he had been trying to get rid of) in exchange for Kogoro’s model. However, after the trade, Keroro discovers Kogoro ate the model. Meanwhile, Natsumi has returned to normal. An alien male from Daishi tries hitting on her, making Natsumi uncomfortable. Giroro sends him packing. Elsewhere on the beach, Momoka is accidentally turned into adult form and won’t let Fuyuki or the others see her. The Daishi alien hits on her, but makes it so she can’t move or speak. Only Fuyuki recognizes her. However, when the Daishi alien harms Fuyuki, Momoka’s dark side erupts. Fuyuki and Momoka are having a moment when everyone else shows up.

Thoughts/Review:

More summertime fun in Keroro Gunsou Episode 120.

Another Failed Contest

One of the staples of Keroro Gunsou is where Keroro or the like enter a contest and fail. And such was the case with Keroro Gunsou Episode 120. For the most part, everything done in this part of the episode has been done before. Keroro enters the contest for a prize. Fuyuki gets drafted. Momoka attempts to rig the contest for him. And so on, and so on. The only thing that made me laugh was Keroro seeing 623’s signature on the prize, making it nearly worthless as a collectable.

Speaking of 623, aka: Saburo, Natsumi’s fangirling for his signature makes no sense. The fact that she has a crush on Saburo is one thing. However, since he knows about the aliens, and since he’s done stuff with Natsumi, getting his signature shouldn’t be a big deal. She can get him to sign anything she wants whenever she wants. BUT, this is a series where the status quo has to be maintained at all times.

Standard Momoka Fare

Momoka’s one trick pony show is her split personality. She’s shy, polite, and elegant in public, but in private, she’s almost yandere. So in Keroro Gunsou Episode 120, we get this trait in the continuation of the beach trip. She gets turned into adult form. But rather than let anyone see her, she goes into hiding. And as is typical, only Fuyuki “sees” her. Further, as normal, her moment with Fuyuki gets trashed.

The weird part of the story was the Daishi alien. His weird way of trying to pick up Natsumi and Momoka was creepy to say the least. As such, I got a chuckle when Giroro snipped the guy to save Natsumi. For Momoka, had it not been for her dark side, she might have been kidnapped.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Keroro Gunsou Episode 120 was not a cliched beach episode. However, it did have many of the normal character/story cliches. But it was still mostly fun. I could have done without Kogoro’s stupidity and poor Lavie’s pathetic apologies.
