Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2 – 10
プリンセスコネクト!Re:Dive S2 episode 10
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
The Diabolos castle comes under attack from Shadows. Akari and Yori have already been taken. Illya sends Myako and Shinobu to the Gourmet Guild HQ before she too is captured by Karyl. Shinobu briefs the others on what happened. Meanwhile, Kasumi (Caon) and Tamaki (Mercurius Foundation) raid the Landosol Palace for a book. Mana immediately causes a physical barrier to erect around the city that also bars entrance into the palace.
Pecorine observes this and gears up with the others. Meanwhile, Tamaki and Kasumi make it to the besieged Friendship Club to deliver the book to Yuni. As Yuni reads the book, she comes to the conclusion that everyone’s memories have been manipulated. Further, the beast Eustiana (Mana) is a fraud and that the real Eustiana (Pecorine) wears a specific tiara.
The fight rages in Landosol. Karyl decends to carry out Mana’s judgement. Pecorine defends the people and attempts to attack Mana. Karyl stops her, then attacks Pecorine. Elsewhere, Matsuri reports to Tomo that Jun and Christina are missing. In another part of the city, Yuuki and Kokkoro attempt to catch up to Pecorine, but Yuuki becomes unconscious.
In the meantime, Pecorine attempts to reach Karyl but fails. However, Yuni uses stones throughout the city to broadcast a message, exposing Mana as a fake. Mana orders Karyl to slaughter them. Karyl starts her attack, but falters. As such, Mana uses puppet magic to force Karyl to attack at full strength. Karyl begs Pecorine to save her.
Thoughts/Review:
There’s no doubt that Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2 – 10 was an interesting episode. And the writers managed to cram it full of characters from the game.
Princess Knight
I have no idea what a Princess Knight actually is. The term came up in the first season. Apparently, Yuuki is one, which I guess is why he can juice up girls from the game. And now Karyl is revealed to be one, though under Mana’s control. It seems that Karyl’s powers allow her to be a massive, AOE damage dealer on a scale she’s never been before.
Question is, why does Mana need to use a Karyl? First, Karyl was a proxy. But when Karyl resisted, Mana made her a puppet. However, Mana seems much more powerful than some Princess Knight character. I know Mana is having to borrow other’s powers. But even still, she’s still pretty powerful and had access to her Shadows. So why does she need Karyl?
Fundamental Falsehoods
I feel fairly certain that the phrase “Fundamental Falsehoods that Lurk in Our World” has come up before. It may have been the previous Yuni episode with Aoi guest starring. Back then, I was more excited about the prospect of what Mana might have done to the world. Further, I was interested in how Ameth, who’s somewhat godlike, was involved in this.
Unfortunately, the introduction of a “real world” element means it doesn’t matter on a world scale. If this is some VR game world (which would explain an elf and a beast being “sisters”, assuming they are related), then everyone is trapped. And their perceptions have been changed so that they think the game world is reality. Further, their memories of reality are gone.
Only Yuuki seems to have had a flash of memory about reality. And if there is a reality, Ameth and others have to know the secret as well.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
I’m WAY behind with work, so let me wrap up my review of Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2 – 10 with some final thoughts.
- I liked seeing Illya and company again. She and the others did previously get a cameo, but this time, she got in on some of the action. Miyako as well.
- It was interesting that Tamaki and Kasumi teamed up, even though they belong to different guilds.
- When it comes to Jun and Christina, I’m going to guess Jun was captured last episode. Christina is a wild card. She’s long sensed something was up. As such, I would expect her to be free and waiting for an opportunity to strike.
- Why wasn’t Aoi with the other members of Friendship Club?
- Well, now I see why the writers couldn’t have Pecorine say anything to anyone. They wanted her to have that dramatic reveal at the end of the episode.
In the end, Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2 – 10 was a good episode. The fights were decent, though I was disappointed Kokkoro didn’t fight that well.
Well, Kaiser has shown to be a egotistical loon with delusions of grandeur. What’s the point of being Princess without a disposable pawn by your side. It’s just like Joker and Harley.
That’s a good point.
