SPOILER Summary/Synopsis

Jigen helicopters Fujiko to a prison yard so she can perform an erotic dance for the prisoners. Eventually, the prisoners riot to try to rape Fujiko, eventually stripping her to her underwear as she fights them off. Meanwhile, Lupin uses the diversion to spring a prisoner named Parker free. Lupin wants a share of the treasure Parker hid. Parker is not interested in sharing. Zenigata pursues them on a speed boat as Jigen gets Fujiko to safety. Parker gets knocked out during the chase.

When he awakens, he’s in a submarine with Lupin. The boat comes under attack from Zenigata and starts heavily leaking. This causes Parker to give up the location of his treasure. The two exit the sub, which is actually in Lupin’s mansion hideout pool. Lupin, Jigen, and Fujiko take Parker in an armored truck to the mountains where the treasure is. Lupin and Jigen go to get it while Fujiko remains behind.

Fujiko seduces Parker into revealing the real location of the treasure. They go to get it. Parker laughs when Lupin and Jigen set off an old mine-bomb at the false location. He then betrays Fujiko, but gets a shock when Lupin and Jigen show up unharmed. The trio leave with the treasure chest. Parker digs up his stashed rocket launcher. He attacks Lupin’s truck as Zenigata returns. Lupin escapes, leaving Zenigata to arrest Parker.

At the hideout, Lupin opens the chest. A large rock is inside. Lupin says the rock must have value, so Fujiko betrays them and steals it. However, Lupin and Jigen have the last laugh as the chest was the treasure.

Thoughts/Review

Man, Lupin the 3rd: Part III 19 is filled with stupidity and pointless betrayal. For a start, what kind of prison would allow a scantily dressed Fujiko to perform an erotic dance for the prisoners? Then there’s the idiotic moment where Fujiko beats down tons of big, burly prisoners who are trying to rape her. And they manage to strip her down to her panties.

Lupin the 3rd: Part III 19

Hilariously, the production team actually acknowledges the absurdity of Fujiko defeating these men by having Jigen remark on it.

Next are the pointless string of betrayals. I say “pointless” ’cause Jigen and Lupin are aware of all the betrayals, from both Parker and Fujiko. But the writers of the episode are constantly throwing out betrayal after betrayal as if the audience will buy them. I didn’t. That aside, I will give the production team credit for the final betrayal. Lupin actually conned Fujiko into believing a large rock was the treasure. I got some satisfaction from that.

Finally, while I’ve never been a fan of the official subs, I do question why it is these adapters feel they need to add words not spoken. In this case, Jigen actually announced Fujiko’s name in Western order. But he didn’t say “Miss”, so why was it added? 🙄

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Lupin the 3rd: Part III 19 has naked Fujiko and a rather dumb story of repeated betrayals.

RIP Eiko Masuyama, the great voice of Fujiko Mine.

      Sad that she’s gone now.

I do not know if you are willing/able to give her a tribute, considering she was retired for a decade. But she was a wonderful and iconic voice for Fujiko, and you had earlier given a tribute to Kiyoshi Kobayashi for Jigen.
