SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Lucy, Cana, Gray, and Juvia decide to let Mirajane and Elfman handle Madmole and Skullion. Elsewhere, Touka embraces Happy as “Natsu-sama”. She had been hiding in a barrel, captured by some bandits, when Natsu and Happy defeated them. After clearing things up with Touka, she changes into her cat form since the White Mage is sleeping. Happy falls for her, forgetting Charle (Carla).

At the site of another orb, Erza has an intense battle with Laxus. Kiria wakes to observe these monsters fight. Despite Erza going all out, Laxus still defeats her. Before passing out, she tells Laxus that once the White Mage issue is resolved, she’s glad to know Fairy Tail will be protected by someone so powerful. This amuses Laxus, who also passes out from exhaustion. Thus Kiria decides she will consume Laxus after she destroys the orb.

Meanwhile, Touka gives a final thanks to Happy before the White Mage returns and forces her to human form. She immediately starts taking Natsu’s magic. However, she won’t say why she took Touka’s body instead of another human’s body. Happy throws the local orb at the White Mage, hitting her. This causes red crystals to painfully grow on her body. Happy retreats with Natsu, vowing to rescue Touka.

Thoughts/Review:

Well, we get the longest battle yet in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 13. Shockingly, it is Erza vs. Laxus. For me, these battles aren’t particularly exciting per se, merely mildly entertaining. Of more interest for me was the end of the fight. I didn’t expect Erza’s reaction to her loss. Erza is one of the strongest folks in Fairy Tail. So I understood her expressed concern about the guild’s defense. With Laxus there (as well as others like Mirajane), the guild is well defended.

This episode also allowed us to see Touka in her true, cat form. I got a chuckle out of Happy’s reaction to the infatuated Touka. Ever since Charle’s introduction, Happy has crushed on her. Now, there’s someone new who feels strong affection for Happy. Ultimately, in order to preserve the status quo, I cannot imagine this going further. Eventually, they’ll come up with a way to remove the White Mage from Touka, and she’ll probably return to the place she came from.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

Let me wrap up my review of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 13 with some final thoughts.

  • As Juvia reminds us at the start of the episode, the White Mage took over all of Fairy Tail (sans Cana) in an instant. Yet she’s unable to take over Natsu very quickly, allowing Happy to do his thing. I dislike plot convenient things like this.
  • Speaking of the White Mage, it did seem she had a specific reason to take over Touka. Considering the emphasis on this moment, one would think we’d get an answer before all this is over.
  • I’m calling it now–Skullion will order Kiria to not consume the unconscious Laxus ’cause “reasons”. No clue what the reason will be, but I feel confident there will be one. After all, Mashima-sensei isn’t going to allow Laxus to be eaten.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 13

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 13 was entertaining enough. My only real complaint is the White Mage getting a plot-required nerf while acting like nothing is different. I’m not liking how the next episode is looking though.
