Keroro Gunsou Episode 126
ケロロ軍曹/Sgt. Frog Anime Review
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Keroro decides to avoid the reality of the impending invasion deadline by building Gunpla and doing household chores. Kururu reveals he has a game console where they can actually enter the Nintendo-like game world. Despite the bugginess of the game, Natsumi, Saburo, Mois, Kururu, Giroro, Tamama, and Kerororo decide to play just the same. Keroro’s platoon find a home and attempt to loot it. However, Giroro cuts them short over the though of Natsumi ending up with Saburo.
Meanwhile, Natsumi finds herself as a hero and levels up after a battle. Fuyuki joins her, initially in dog form due to the game bugs. He reveals that Dororo and Koyuki came as well to rescue them due to the bad aura of the console. The two of them look for Koyuki, eventually finding her in a cabin. Meanwhile, Mois slaughters a ton of slimes, causing Keroro’s party to reach level 99. They reach the Demon King’s castle just before Natsumi’s party does.
Racing inside, Keroro sets off a trap that sends his entire party down a pit. Natsumi’s party discover that the Demon King is in fact Saburo. Keroro’s party emerge from the floor to join the fight. Keroro, Tamama, and Koyuki attack, but do no damage. Mois is about to unleash, but Natsumi stops her. Using the power of love, Natsumi invites Saburo to her party, thus defeating him.
However, Dororo, the secret final boss, appears. He’s about to release his trauma rage attack when Koneko (Kitten the cat) happens to press the reset button on the console. Kururu reveals he another RPG they can play, but Keroro flees instead.
Thoughts/Review:
We get a single story with Keroro Gunsou Episode 126. To that end, the episode becomes a Nintendo gaming parody as well as a JRPG gaming parody. As such, the episode can be pretty amusing for what it is. I did chuckle when Mois defeated all of the enemies and caused Keroro’s party to all reach level 99. It reminded me of years ago, when my brother-in-law and sister “ran” me through Diablo II content to rapidly level up.
However, beyond the parody aspects, there’s not a lot to say about the episode. There were a lot more characters than normal. And everything conveniently wraps up with the stray cat Koneko somehow getting into the Hinata home and then pressing the rest button on the console. Eh, whatever.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Keroro Gunsou Episode 126 is a fun, parody take on JRPGs and Nintendo gaming of the time.
