Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 16
フェアリーテイル 100年クエスト
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
With the god Seed Wolfen facing Natsu turning into Zeref, it discovers that its desires to protect Aldoron are causing the Wood Dragon god damage. As such, Wolfen removes itself from combat, including all of its clones. As a result, Natsu pulled into Aldoron’s body. Meanwhile, the god Seed Metro appears, summoning massive, tree warriors to go against Lucy, Gray, Juvia, Cana, Gajeel, Elfman, Mirajane, and a whole slew of others.
Elsewhere, Laxus, carrying the unconscious Erza, meets Jellal. They are confronted by the god Seed Gears. Jellal sends Laxus to get Erza to safety. Still elsewhere, Happy, Wendy, carrying the unconscious White Mage, and Charle (Carla), carrying the unconscious Touka, are confronted by the god Seed Doom. Wendy has no power for an attack. As such, Charle changes into human form and attacks, only to be encased in spores with a five-petal flower on top.
Inside Aldoron, the god Seed Aldoron appears before Natsu. After immediately injuring Natsu, he reveals that while the dragon Aldoron slept to recover from his lost fight with Acnologia, he allowed humans to settle on him. Thus as he fed off of the humans, he grew in size and strength. Thus in order to contain his power while he recovered, he created the god Seeds, sealed them inside orbs in each town.
Meanwhile, a large group of weaker Fairy Tail members show up to assist Wendy. After she explains the situation, Wendy uses the last of her power to enhance them. As such, they are eventually able to defeat Doom, freeing Charle. This causes the god Seed Aldoron great concern. He tries to obliterate Natsu, but fails. Natsu observes that Aldoron is now weaker than before.
Thoughts/Review:
Well, it is time for new enemies to fight and low-tier Fairy Tail members to get a chance to shine in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 16.
New Enemies and Nakama Power!
As is commonplace in this franchise, we get introduced to a new set of enemies in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 16. I had wondered how Natsu causing Wolfen to create a clone of Zeref wouldn’t backfire. And now I know. I remembered Zeref had an uncontrollable destructive power that killed everything around him. I didn’t remember the curse getting stronger against those Zeref cared about. Regardless, when Wolfen removed himself and all his clones, does that mean that Wolfen basically committed suicide?
I suppose the next episode will show how the god Seeds Metro and Gears are dealt with. However, we did get to see the god Seed Doom. You gotta “love” an enemy who doesn’t actually kill an opponent right away ’cause “reasons”. So Doom basically putting a five minute clock on killing Charle gives some minor Fairy Tail members a chance to show their nakama power! It is silly, but fine for what it was.
Of slightly more interest was the god Seed Aldoron, who acts as the wood dragon’s brain. And yet I couldn’t help but think that having these new enemies means that they aren’t actually dealing with the dragon. It is a cheap way for Fairy Tail to be able to defeat what would otherwise be a nearly impossible enemy to fight due to its sheer size (like a small mountain with five cities on it). Seed Aldoron gives us some horrific but interesting lore bits, which I appreciated.
That said, I’m waiting for Diabolos to swoop back in now that two of the god Seeds are destroyed. Or maybe they’ll arrive once the last one is killed, leaving only a weakened, mountain of a dragon.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 16 was entertaining to be sure. But there were cliched things done in the name of plot to prevent main characters from getting killed. Also, the comedic opening throws things off, even though it did make me laugh.
