フェアリーテイル 100年クエスト

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Natsu eagerly challenges Suzaku to a rematch. Suzaku is not impressed, but agrees to the fight. To his surprise, Natsu defends against his sword. Natsu taunts and continues to succeed in the exchange of attacks. Suzaku suspects Natsu held back previously, but Natsu denies this. Natsu reveals he’d observed Suzaku’s movements, thus could counter it.

As such, Suzaku changes the timing of his movements, inflicting damage but not killing Natsu. Natsu counters, but Suzaku defends. Suzuka makes a massive counter, but Natsu defends. It is then that both guys notice the walls are melting and the heat is rising. With that, Ignia makes his appearance in human form.

In other parts of the dungeon, Laxus and Wendy notice Ignia’s arrival. Outside, a horrified Selene sees Ignia arrive as well.

Thoughts/Review:

For the most part, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 100 is just a standard, “who’s got the biggest chinpo” shounen fight. We already know that Natsu can think on the fly when it comes to combat. At the same time, he’s pretty dumb, as the one comedy moment of the chapter proved. However, I seem to recall a similar joke about Natsu’s lack of math skills, so whatever.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 100

The only item of note in this chapter is Ignia’s unexpected arrival. Until now, Team Natsu has had to deal with a single dragon god. Right now, they have Selene outside the labyrinth, a “dead” dragon (if it is dead) inside the labyrinth. And then Ignia makes a surprise appearance.

Not going to lie, but I get the feeling that until now, the series blasted forward at a fairly good clip. However, the series must be fairly popular to get an anime made (but maybe not enough to get a second season). Assuming sales were going good at this time, Mashima-sensei may have decided to slow things down. Thus Team Natsu aren’t actually dealing with Selene, and Ignia shows up.

I suppose Ignia could have been manipulating the dungeon somehow. We’ll see what happens.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 100 is mostly a boring, cliched, shounen fight. However, there is an unexpected twist at the end.
