Taiho Shichauzo! Full Throttle Episode 22
逮捕しちゃうぞ フルスロットル Episode 22
You’re Under Arrest anime review
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
As Kachou gets orders from his superiors, Miyuki considers her career as a police officer. Nakajima talks with Miyuki and that night when Nakajima leaves, Miyuki stops him and offers to make him a meal at her apartment since Natsumi is out for the evening. Nakajima is happy to accept but then his father Daimaru and young step-mother Sana drive up and take Nakajima and Miyuki to a family restaurant instead, which doesn’t sit well with Nakajima. There, Daimaru tells Nakajima he knows about the red car case and offers his assistance.
Daimaru won’t take no for an answer and so rounds up a lot of motorcycle buddies to get the attention of the hapless police and thus the attention of the red car driver. Sure enough, he emerges and Miyuki goes solo to find him after learning of Nakajima’s father’s involvement in the lure. Nakajima gets Natsumi and they go off after Miyuki but not before the red car has an accident on a mountain road and Miyuki crashes into him, causing both cars to go over the edge. Nakajima goes down despite his broken arm to look for Miyuki while she treats the injured red car driver. She’s looking for help when Nakajima finds her and she passes out. She dreams that Nakajima proposes to her on the roof of the police building and when she comes to, she’s on his back. He starts to say the same things he said in her dream to propose to her and she says yes. The criminal is arrested and taken to the hospital, Miyuki is taken to the hospital, and Nakajima gets back to work. Miyuki gets word about Nakajima from Natsumi and smiles.
Thoughts/Review:
Talk about your anti-climactic resolutions to a story. Then again, it wasn’t like this story of the red car driver causing all sorts of additional problems with his vigilantly ways was that gripping to start with.
Regardless, this episode reminded me of something that has always been on my mind with the You’re Under Arrest franchise — lack of respect for police. Back when I lived in Japan, I don’t remember a great deal about the police other than they weren’t armed. That said, this anime has a point (though I don’t think it is trying to make this point) that when your law enforcement officers aren’t armed, one tends to easily disrespect the police and do whatever you want.
Don’t get me wrong — we have lots of fools in the U.S. who run from the police when the police attempt to pull them over. What we don’t have are criminals who see cops and think, “Who cares if a cop sees me. I’m going to do whatever I like and screw that.” There’s something about a police officer with a loaded weapon that tends to put a bit of fear into a person to overcome any urges to thumb their nose at the law.
For the last TV regular TV episode, the animation on this episode was pretty substandard. I guess Studio DEEN ran out of money, which considering how badly the series was written does not surprise me.
I liked that we did get to see Daimaru and Sana again. I wondered if they’d show up. Too bad it wasn’t in a meaningful way.
I guess this episode tosses a bone to the crowd by suggesting that Nakajima proposed to Miyuki and she said yes. Its completely weak as far as I’m concerned. Just “man up” and let the characters become a couple and get married. ^_^; After all, fans have been waiting for this for how many years now?
I’ll post a final review if I get to watch the final two episodes.
Such a disappointing anime. I had high hopes for more of S2.
As did I. Well, we don’t always get what we want.
I only liked the 1st season, the 2nd started good following the comedy/action style from the previous one, but then it was all about the drama. Miyuki went from being my favorite character to being the one I hated the most
The drama made the show more interesting to me. In YUA2, I liked how Nakajima had to deal with his father’s remarriage. I liked how Natsumi had a real relationship. I liked how Shiori joined the force. The only thing I didn’t like was how the writers avoided having Miyuki and Nakajima get together as a couple.
My interpretation of what happened when Ken rescued Miyuki after a day of hard analysis of the situation and event.. He said the first line of her dream then change in camera angle and love song..He finished the entire statement of her dream and asked her for marriage. There was a little pause and Miyuki answered the sweet “Yes”. It was possible that he said the entire statement about her dream including the proposal for marriage because she almost died. Dejavu… It suited the situation because he doesn’t want to lose her but had no choice because their job is too risky so he took the guts to ask her “Marry me”. So that explains where the wonderful Yes came about. YUA 2 ep. 26, when Miyuki told him that she’d be waiting and Ken gave it in the end ,so it came true. That’s why in the end she was glowing, blooming and happy when she knew ken was patrolling again. She loves him so much.. Ken looked at her house/ hospital with confidence and happiness because he has Miyuki and he did the thing he wanted to do for a long time which was to propose a marriage to his beloved Miyuki. I believe in this.. This is my understanding… This is what you get for deep analysis of a certain highlight of the episode. It’s a wonderful ending for those two which hid their feelings for a long time. Episode 22 was the conclusion of Miyuki and Nakajima’s Love story…Nakajima deserves it because he had put too much effort on her and the reward was Miyuki’s love for him. In ep. 24 if related.. Natsumi asked her that they should get married with their desired partners.. Miyuki answered “That might be right”.. She was happy and not avoiding the love topic which she usually does. It means she found her man..Ken Nakajima which she loves. Episode 22 was Miyuki and Nakajima Love story ending and episode 24 was Miyuki and Natsumi’s partnership ending.. 2 endings. Thank you..You’re Under Arrest…
I just wish that there had been a decided “we are getting married” ending, complete with wedding.
I’m 99% sure I never saw another episode after 22. 🙁
There is ep 23 (Extra) and 24 (Special DVD)… Watch it… Just browse “gogoanime you’re under arrest full throttle” in Google. You’ll find it there. Am I correct that Ken proposed to Miyuki for real which led her to answer “yes”?
I have now acquired and will be reviewing. Thanks. ^_^
As to Ken and Miyuki, well, I would have preferred something more. The way it was done was too ambiguous for me, but it was done in a way so that fans COULD say, “He proposed and she said ‘yes.'”
Thank you..So my interpretation was right.. I understand how you feel that Ken and Miyuki must have that wedding.. I want it too because it was lacking.. I wish it would happen because we’ve watched it for many years. This was the only episode I liked because it was about them .They could have made the other episodes interesting but personally I found them boring… A samurai, snakes, wrestlers and a lost baby..what a waste. I might sound selfish but they could have used it for Miyuki and Ken’s relationship.I just hope for the producer to make even one more episode to conclude Miyuki and Ken..The wedding that we wanted, and after that Natsumi and Shoji too.
Yes, the character aspects of the franchise are lost in this series.
just a doubt i love this serie i wanna see those 2 married but after season 3 there are some more episodies or that is the end of everything ?
Well, the anime went on quite a bit further than the manga ever did. The manga was only eight volumes, whereas the anime had multiple seasons, OVAs, and a move. I think this is it though, unless Fujishima-sensei steps in and writes something more.
aaa ok i understand, any way i hope it does not end just like that and that still writing something more 😀 thanks for the answer
You’re welcome. ^_^
when ken and miyuki really proposes and wedding ?
“When” is right. ^_^;
Well, if one wants to see a resolution to Ken and Miyuki’s story, they can always read the manga. It’s the chapter before the last two chapters.1
I need to do that.
