Whew! The last couple of days have been very busy for your’s truly, as I attempt to FINALLY clean up all of the old blog posts that have their images jacked up. Its a very tedious task and prior to two days ago, was a task that took an insane amount of time as I basically had to delete the images in the post, physically locate the original images on the Picasso server, then re-insert them into the blog post. Because of the sheer volume of images I’ve used over the years, the process of Picasso loading up the images for me to even see, combined with trying to locate the proper folder, took quite a bit of time.
Now, I have a new tool which allows me to mostly bypass all of that and just fix the images properly. Well, the tool isn’t so much “new,” but it never worked properly for me before. Now it does. As such, it is my intent to get all of the hideous posts with skewed images fixed over the next couple of days.
That being said, going back over these old blog posts sort of makes me nostalgic for some anime titles, as well as remind me that I need to do my “Back to the Archives” series again, starting with Tenchi Muyo! OVA 3. However, the series that keeps calling my name is Hand Maid May, which I blogged about back in 2008.
Back when I watched the Hand Maid May 3-DVD set in 2002, I knew I had to have this series, and in 2003, I made that happen despite severe financial limitations. Back then, I used to watch Hand Maid May once every three months, simply because I so loved the simple, sweet fun of the series, even if it had pointless fanservice and plot holes you could drive an aircraft carrier through.
As I have some unpaid furlough days coming up, I think I’m going to sit down and rewatch this favorite anime series of mine. Heck, I may even write a new blog post since I’m not all that happy with my original one.
In the meantime, here’s a wallpaper image of four of the characters to tide me through. Its a shame this series isn’t one that is likely to ever be license rescued.
Ha! I remember that one!
Happy nostalgia days, ANB;)
Thanks!
Gotta be honest here, while I loved me some Hand Maid May back in the anime boom days this is the first series that jumps to mind when I think about doing a “Anime shows I want to get rid of” purge. There’s nothing really wrong with the show or the story I just feel but unlike Tenchi which has rewatchability value this series just feels dated.
Well, it is dated (I laugh looking at the computers being used), and I notice how cheaply animated it is (lots of pan-and-scan), but for some reason, it has always held a special place with me.
