ラストエグザイル-銀翼のファム-/Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam Episode 19
Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing – 19
As various parties mourn the passing of Liliana, Luscinia recalls a moment after the destruction of Turan when Liliana threatened to kill him. Dian, in prison with her translator, wonders if she truly killed an enemy. Millia weeps as she understands the burden her sister carried. Fam and Gisey are outside the door where Millia is. Fam is displeased with her own naivety. Luscinia and Alauda approach Fam and Gisey, where Luscinia leaves a bouquet of flowers and asks them to support Millia, as this was Liliana’s wish. Gisey accuses Luscinia of knowing this would happen, leading Fam to demand to know why Luscinia started a war if he wanted peace. He states he did what he had to do and tells her to do what she has to do.
Outside, Luscinia and Alauda vow to continue on, leading to the 1st and 2nd Fleets from Ades to depart. On board the Silvius, Tatiana and Alister receive word that Urbanus will be there in a few days, which is too late. They get word on the Ades fleet movements from the deck, as a Guild assault force arrives and starts slaughtering the crew. Vasant reports to Empress Sārā to get her to safety, but when Sārā demands to be told the truth, Vasant agrees. However, before she can, Luscinia arrives, having slaughtered Sārā’s guard. His intent it to take Augusta with him, and though Vasant attempts to stop him, his Guild skills make her efforts meaningless and she is killed.
As the Guild continues to slaughter the Silvius crew, Dio is about to whisk Alvis away to safety when Alauda attacks. In a fierce battle, Dio takes an injury, but kills Alauda in the process. Luscinia brings Sārā on board the Anshar, giving orders for a high speed Vanship to be prepped for him to take the Empress north for the peach that her mother wished for. With that, Augusta’s flag is raised on the Impetus as Luscinia departs on a rocket-boosted Vanship once he realizes that Alauda won’t make it. Kayvān orders an attack on the rebels, while Ōrang is disgusted at Luscinia using Sārā and orders an attack to save her.
Fam, Gisey, and Millia discover Vasant’s body, leading Fam to vow to rescue Sārā. Millia states that she will try to organize the military in light of the chaos, but before she goes, Fam apologizes to her for not realizing her pain, nor Dian’s pain. She also apologizes for forcing her dream of the Grand Race on Millia. Millia tells Fam that she wouldn’t have gotten this far without Fam, and wants Fam’s dream to come true. Gisey, Fam, and Millia all agree, and with that, part ways. As the fighting rages, Luscinia takes Sārā to the Grand Exile, where she awakens and asks for Vasant. Luscinia addresses her as Maestro Sārā, and activates her as the key to the ship. Even though still miles away, Luscinia activates Grand Exile‘s massive beam weapon, destroying almost every rebel Ades ship in one attack.
Man! So much happened in this episode, my head started spinning and I had to go take a walk.
I wasn’t surprised that Luscinia would carry on with his plans to rule the world and slaughter all those in his way. Poor Vasant. She’s always gone out of her way to protect Sārā, going back to Empress Farahnāz’s assassination. She died, trying to protect her, and thus deserves much respect.
I didn’t expect that Sārā would be an Exile key despite knowing that Luscinia found another ship. Then again, I didn’t think that there’d be another type of Exile ship. If the Exile ships were designed to ferry humanity to and from the Prester colonies and back (with built-in self defense capabilities), then what was Grand Exile designed for?
I guess Luscinia desperately needs the Anatoray Exile for some reason, probably to prevent people from defending themselves against his onslaught. I say this because once again, the Guild goes after Alvis.
I’m not sure how anyone on the Silvius will survive the Guild slaughter team unless Dio somehow gets involved, or unless they retreat because of Alauda’s death.
I was sure glad Dio took down Alauda, even though I didn’t expect Alauda to die now. Maybe Dio is the one to kill Luscinia. That would be sweet, providing Dio lives to tell the tale.
With things seemingly in Luscinia’s hands, what happens now? Do Millia and Alvis use their Exiles to try to thwart Luscinia and Grand Exile? What role does Fam have yet to play? I’m looking forward to watching more of this series for sure.
