Ah! My Goddess Ch. 296 Manga Review

Ah! My Goddess Manga/Oh My Goddess! Manga
ああっ女神さまっ Chapter 296

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Daitenkaicho Tyr, still in Gate’s body, counts down for Keiichi to start his Judgement Gate Grand Prix race. At zero, Keiichi takes off while Belldandy observes, praying for him to make it to her. Keiichi’s first attempt has him nearly go off the edge, where he stops just in time. Belldandy shouts a reminder to him that he gets three chances, so he returns to the starting point, where he and Belldandy exchange looks before Keiichi takes off again.

Tyr remarks to his daughter that Keiichi may give up, but Belldandy says that based on her experience, Keiichi will never give up.  Rather than just trying to speed into the unknown, Keiichi takes his second turn to understand the track and get familiar with it, something Tyr notes with a sense of amusement.

As Keiichi is determining his line to follow on the course, he decides that he must complete the challenge now because he can’t do it later. The clock winds down as Keiichi races ahead, but he gets distracted when Tyr shouts at him that he should stop since he only has just over four seconds left on the clock. As a result, Keiichi is not able to brake in time and is about to go off the edge of the track when he finds himself at Tyr’s location.

Thoughts/Review:

There’s not a great deal to discuss for this chapter, but I’ll give it a go just the same.

Keiichi is puzzled about showing back up at Tyr’s location because he’s probably forgotten about the fact that Tyr told him this would happen should he go off the edge of the track.

So, two chances down, and as I thought, we’d get at least one more racing chapter. Keiichi has a feel for part of the track now, so he’ll race through that. How he wins this remains to be seen. Will Belldandy do something to cause Keiichi to be able to make it happen, or at least help make it happen. As I said before, she’s been his support in making things happen, but he has always had his role to play, so it hasn’t been all Belldandy. Thus, her assisting him might be OK (and she did pray here).

Keiichi might do something on his own that is unexpected. After all, he has been with deities for a long time now, and there may be some spark within him that allows him to do the impossible.

Anyway, it is all speculation as there’s no telling what Fujishima-sensei has in store. Heck, for all I know, he could pull the greatest troll maneuver ever and have Keiichi lose. *lol*

A short calculation: this chapter can be the last one of volume 46 (or the first of v.47), so I think there will be 6 or 7 chapters before the end. So the slashing end (e.g. Negima) can be avoidable. Can be?

That’s assuming Fujishima-sensei doesn’t do a special, double-sized chapter or two. If that’s the case, and other manga-ka have done this before, then the final volume will have less chapters, but the same number of pages. If AMG takes a month off here or there, then I’d say this will be what happens for sure.
