Mobile Suit Gundam-san – 01 (Char sez, “Red is cool!”)

Mobile Suit Gundam-san – 01
Kidou Senshi Gundam-san episode 01
機動戦士ガンダムさん review

***SPOILERS***

Having enjoyed the original Mobile Suit Gundam series, the reviews of which you can read here, discovering that there was a series of shorts adapted from a 4-koma comic strip based on the original anime caught my eye.  Naturally, I had to watch it.

Mobile Suit Gundam-san - 01

For this first episode, we get naked Char, Lalah, and regular Char. ^_^

Mobile Suit Gundam-san - 01

I have to admit, it was so wrong, and yet oh so funny seeing Char naked, dancing, and singing about how the color red gave him three times the power.

Mobile Suit Gundam-san - 01

Having Lalah break the bad news to Char that red would give him three times the power was funny.

Mobile Suit Gundam-san - 01

Ditto Lalah not wanting to hear Char’s tale of how he became known as the Red Comet.  There’s just something about seeing the powerful Char put in his place. *lol*

Mobile Suit Gundam-san - 01

I’ve never watched Mobile Suit Gundam-Z, but I kinda want to now since Lalah prevents Char from paining his Zaku gold, based on a feeling that he’d do this in seven years. *lol*

Mobile Suit Gundam-san - 01

If you haven’t watched the original Mobile Suit Gundam, the laughs won’t be as frequent for you, but for me, this little short was quite the hoot.  As such, I’ll be watching more. ^_^

Hah. Those outrageous images are great!

Is Lalah our Sayla from the recent manga, “Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin?” My only contact is with “the Origin.”

I’m trying to follow the identity switches of 1) Artesia Mass, who we mostly know as Sayla, and 2) her brother the hero badass Casval, who we mostly knew as Eduardo Mass, now as Char Asnable. “Mass ” was their adopted name, and their history as upper class Zeons always lurks under they surface. Eduardo, Sayls’s brother (?), switched identities with the real Char at the spaceport, and became him when the ship carrying the real Char was destroyed on purpose. Still not sure that Eduardo (Casval) didn’t know this ahead of time. Apparently, only Sayla (Artesia) vaguely suspects the switch by the end the prequel, Vol. V of “The Origin.”

Is that even close to correct? I’m reading again, so maybe this time I’ll get it. Are all these id switches the same in the prior versions of “Gundam?”

Lalah is a character introduced well into the Gundam series. As you can tell from the images in this post, she works with Char in Gundam.

I’d have to look up the names. Mostly, the original anime (and this comedy-parody series) just use “Char” or “Sayla” as names.

Thanks. As I suspected, the parody seems to have only incidental correlation, to neither’s detriment. I did notice that Lalah has black hair and Sayla full, thick blonde, but that could have made no difference in a derivative.

    Char’s ass is lol.
