Genshiken Nidaime chapter 104 Manga Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

While Madarame laments how scary girls are, Hato announces to Genshiken that he’s going to do a regular manga. Ogiue is very pleased by this, especially since it gets them further from cosplay. Yajima isn’t very pleased by this, seeing Hato slipping further away.  As such, when Yajima gets home, she decides to work on her own manga, crappy art and all.

A few days later, Hato announces that he has finished his draft. While the art was good, the story was not. Yajima has her own draft manga, which is a four panel comic strip. Yajima’s art is terrible, but even Ogiue could not help but laugh at Yajima’s jokes.

As the others discuss Yajima’s work, Hato gives Yajima a look, causing her to believe this is the first time he’s ever really looked at her.

Outside Madarame’s apartment, Sue appears.

Thoughts/Review:

I guess we needed to take a break from the Madarame’s harem stuff and focus on something new.

I think I can guess where this chapter will take Yajima and Hato, based on a mini-chapter of Spotted Flower. Yajima will end up being Hato’s story writer and Hato will do the actual art.

Still, before we get there, there’s Hato’s jealousy to deal with. Never seen that look on his face, and there was no doubt in Yajima’s mind that Hato looked at her. Well, Yajima did steal all of Hato’s thunder.

I loved Ogiue in this chapter, from her wicked enjoyment of knowing that Genshiken was shifting itself away from cosplay to her smiles and laughter at reading Yajima’s manga. I still think it is a shame that we don’t see her home life with Sasahara.

While I admit that I have some interest in Yajima x Hato, to be honest, seeing Sue with the glint in her eye outside of Madarame’s apartment was far more interesting to me. I hope that means Kio-sensei is returning to the Madarame harem story to deal with Sue.

So an enjoyable chapter, but next chapter should be better.
