Genshiken Nidaime chapter 110 Manga Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Genshiken Nidaime Chapter 110As Madarame and Hato carry the wasted Kuchiki to the hotel, Madarame has Hato go buy a special drink for Kuchiki. After getting Kuchiki home, the drink down his gullet, and his body into bed, Hato is going to leave, but Madarame invites him to stay and drink adult beverages since he feels he hasn’t had enough. Plus, he wants to talk with Hato. Hato points out that he’s in his male form now, but Madarame says that whether he dresses as a guy or a girl, he’s still Hato.

Hato ponders the situation as the two drink. Madarame asks why Hato hasn’t come by for a visit. Since Hato is drunk, he decides to be honest with Madarame and tells him that he left because the only way things could have continued after his Valentine’s visit would have been a BL way. Madarame is surprised by this, so Hato reminds him about how he constantly fantasizes about BL stuff. However, BL stuff is just fantasy, not reality, just as Hato dressing and appearing to be a girl is not real as he’s still a man.

When all is said and done, Hato asks that if Madarame is going to choose one person from his harem to be with, he should make it one of the girls. Hato feels relieved for telling Madarame this, but while Madarame says he’s OK with that, he actually feels disappointed at being rejected again. Since Hato is going to be crossdressing for the rest of the trip, he asks that for now, Madarame still treat him as one of the harem.

Hato gets up to leave, so Madarame does as well. However, Madarame being drunk, tired from carrying Kuchiki, and tripping over Kuchiki’s shoes causes him to fall onto Hato, knocking him onto one of the beds.

Back at Yajima’s house, Keiko notes the time and remarks on how long it is taking Hato to get back.

Thoughts/Review:

Well, this chapter kind of surprised me. I hadn’t expected Hato to open up like he did.  I appreciate the fact that Hato recognizes there’s a difference between the BL hentai doujinshi/manga he reads and draws, and reality. Of course, that’s true of any fantasy situation. In fantasy, one always says the perfect thing which always leads to the results one desires. In reality, it never goes that way, and Hato knows that Madarame is heterosexual.  Thus it would never work between the two, thus Hato backs out.

That was the real surprise to me — Hato bowing out rather than Madarame having to turn him down. The other part of that surprise was Madarame feeling bummed out at having been rejected again. It has been a while since Saki turned Madarame down, but he’s obviously still feeling the affects of that.

Of course, Kio-sensei had to have things end in a cliched situation, whereupon Madarame falls on Hato on the bed and they both get flushed. Ooooo! Frankly, the moment had me rolling my eyes.  I don’t think anything will happen from it, but I can see Keiko and Angela showing up to get Hato and either suspecting something, or even finding what they think is something.

Genshiken Nidaime Chapter 110

You know, I wish that we’d gotten a serious chapter like this when it was Sue’s turn at the plate. Instead, Sue’s time was just silly. Keiko’s time was erotic in its own way. Hato’s time was serious. That just leaves Angela time at bat. Oddly enough, I expect her time to be the most normal since Ohno will have to translate for Angela.

In the end, it was a good chapter (despite the cliche) where Hato is honest and makes his attempt to bow out of the hare. We’ll see where things go from here.

Still hoping Saki is endgame and that “Spotted Flower” is the future of Genshiken.

Although I’ve been a Sue shipper, Spotted Flower has made me want to see a Saki x Madarame pairing.

Good call on the “up at bat” progression of the last few chapters !!! Thanks for the reviews, as always

Thanks for open minded review, most guys are so childish about Hato.
I think he would suit with Madarame if he were a girl (since Maradame is straight). She’s always so sensible and nice to him and even when she’s “mean” (like when she called him a bottom) it was to protect him. And she defends him (like when Saki called him a lolicon) and loves him so purely. Too bad this chapter probably doesn’t mean anything 🙁 I wish both of them would find someone who treats them as well as they treat each other.

I think Kio-sensei is going to tease things a bit longer though, but in the end, I can’t see Madarame ending up with Hato. I still have this feeling that Kio-sensei has found a way to make it so that Madarame ends up with Saki.

And as for Hato, if Spotted Flower is a guide, then Hato never truly gives up on Madarame, but is with Yajima.

I agree.. though I hope he doesn’t end up with Saki either because
his confession made me cry and I don’t like it when anime makes me
cry for no reason lol. Anyway, in Kio-sensei we trust.

  4. […] Well, Spotted Flower chapter 17 is directly linking to Genshiken Nidaime chapter 110 and chapter 111. I’ve long been thinking that Spotted Flower is in fact where Genshiken […]
