Thoughts/Review:

Again, I found watching this story much more amusing and entertaining that it had been when I read the manga.

Kyoukai no RINNE - 02

I get a kick out of the “advertisement” for the different shinigami tools that Rinne has to use. That was a bit more amusing when it came to things like the Spirit Cracker, in which the announcer remarks that one could use a regular cracker instead.

Kyoukai no RINNE - 02

I chucked when the old lady was trying to sell Sakura shinigami stuff, then starts chasing Sakura when Sakura turns down her wares.

Kyoukai no RINNE - 02

I don’t remember if Sakura’s friends noticed her hanging out with Rinne or not. If it is an invention of the anime, I kind of like it since they think Sakura might be dating Rinne.

Kyoukai no RINNE - 02

Rinne’s grandmother brings up how awkward things can be in English when dealing with age jokes and the terms obaachan/obaasan (grandmother; woman old enough to be your grandmother) and oneesan (older sister; girl old enough to be your older sister).  Using “young lady” and “old lady” (or the like term) does come off as awkward when trying to avoid using “oneesan.”

Kyoukai no RINNE - 02

I’m having a hard time thinking of anything else to say. Well, I am trying to write this at 02:00 while at the same time, participating on a bridge call for a work issue. ^_^;

Kyoukai no RINNE - 02

Anyway, I look forward to an entertaining third episode.

    Yeah, this story worked very well in anime form and did a couple things that are not in the manga. One you already mentioned, Sakura’s friends seeing her with Rinne. Another is seeing the Damashigami Company when the rabbit is blown away at the end. It’s nice little foreshadowing for something that becomes important a little later on. Personally, I can’t wait for Masato’s introduction episode, it’s going to be a lot of fun.

      Oh yeah, that’s true.

      *lol* I’d forgotten about him. That will be fun.

    All this time, I thought Kyoukai no Rinne is one of Takahashi Rumiko’s old series.. Maybe I’ll start taking a look at the manga now.

    Did anyone else notice when Rinne’s grandmother first made her introduction into the series, that she looks ALOT like Gin Ichimaru from the hit-manga “Bleach”? They both have silver hair, they have their eyes shut most of the time and only seem to open them when they are serious about something. An interesting fact is that Tito Kubo got some of his inspiration for “Bleach” from “InuYasha” so Rumiko Takahashi might have been making tribute to “Bleach” by designing not one but TWO characters from “Bleach” as just like Ichigo Kurosaki has oddly orange hair, Rinne has oddly fire-engine red hair.
