SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R 12Tsukasa, Kokona, and Komugi go to their respective houses to find Tanu-P, Neko-P, and Usa-P beaten up. The three mascots report that Lilia is the culprit, but the girls refuse to believe. When the girls attend Lilia’s next concert, they give it a thought, but reject notion of Lilia being a villain.  During the concert, all three mascots sense a monster, so the three girls split up to transform. The monster targets Lilia on the stage, so all three magic girls show up on stage. Lilia’s patched teddy bear (with a Fan-C card inside) activates, possessing Lilia and merging with her in a transformation as Lilia of Idora. Lilia defeats the monster and now has 100% of the Fan-C cards.

Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R 12With that, the Kumami persona tells the others that with the power of the Fan-C cards, he will make the entire world (and beyond) fans of Lilia so that Lilia is never lonely again.  The girls don’t believe this will help Lilia, so their mascots get them to do a combined Triple Tombo-E Girl attack, whereupon the girls create a magical stage and sing a song together. This frees everyone from the spell, including Lilia. With all of the Fan-C cards freed, the girls transform back to normal and laugh when they discover the truth of each other. Yuuta gets confirmation that Magical Sister was Tsukasa, so she confesses to him and him to her.  The mascots return to Hime-P in Fanta-C world, where she makes Kumami into a proper mascot for Lilia. Everyone lives happily ever after.

Thoughts/Review:

And so this silly series ends with a Macross Delta ending. Hoo boy.

Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R 12

With this final episode, everything gets nicely wrapped up, and the option for a sequel is provided with Usa-P returning to Earth to get Komugi’s help as Magical Nurse again. Somehow, I can’t see this getting another series, but it has idol tunes, cute middle school babes, and silly stupidness, so it may well get a sequel.

As to the episode elements, things played by the book. It was easy to see that Lilia would reveal herself to the girls via Kumami and the girls would have to save Lilia. Although I should have expected it, I didn’t think that the resolution would be the magic girls singing a song on a stage their spell constructed, but it was a long day today (when I wrote this). Well at least here, the girls are proper magic girls singing their magical song, unlike Macross Delta. But that’s another series I’m reviewing… 😉

I wasn’t really sure if the writers would resolve the Tsukasa x Yuuta romance, but they did by allowing Yuuta to witness Tsukasa’s reverse transformation (along with Kokona’s and Komugi’s). But then they sent Yuuta off to America for ten years, so if there is a sequel, Tsukasa will be in the cold this time.

In magic girl series, especially the Sailor Moon Crystal series (which I’m not episode blogging for the 3rd season so that my IQ doesn’t fall any further), I’ve grumbled at the cliched transformation sequences. For Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R, those sequences exist, but it has always been stated that this is quite fast (0.015 second transformation). I only mention it in this review because the episode announcer made a point to say that Lilia’s transformation was 0.005 seconds faster than the other girls, which cracked me up for some reason.

Finally, we got to see the world of Fanta-C, the mascots in their humanoid form, and the busty widow ruler of this world, Hime-P. For whatever reason, this moment seemed more about adding a level of ecchi to the series than anything else. *_*

Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R 12

I’ll try to bust out a series review, but in the meantime, Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R 12 is pretty much like the others in that it is silly, but has just enough fun to make it OK to watch.
