“Maid Dragon” References “Slayers” – A Translation Request
Hey gang. I saw this post going around the other day from Pixv artist Kakki (かっきー). (Not safe for work alert on that link!) I don’t think this artist has anything to do with the official Kobayashi-san’s Maid Dragon manga titles that exist. Nevertheless, because they are making a reference to Lina Inverse from Slayers, I really want to know what’s being said here. So if someone can help with a translation, it would be appreciated.
If you haven’t watched the Slayers anime franchise (or read the source light novels that TokyoPop released back in the day), Lina Inverse is a very powerful sorcerer. Her trademark spell is called Dragon Slave, the etymology of which used to be Dragon Slayer. It is a massive, area of effect attack that has a blast effect akin to a small nuke. And yes, Lina has used it to effectively slay Dragons and more.
So even though this is likely only fan work, being a huge fan of the Slayers franchise and knowing that these humanoid girls are in fact dragons, I’m really curious to know what’s being said. It strikes me as funny that Lina Inverse could be legend that still causes dragons to be afraid to this day.
Update: Nagicon (aka: Violent Cloud) provided a translation.
took some liberties… but should be enough to get the gist of it.
Ha!ha!ha! I love this. I really need to pull Slayers off the shelf and rewatch someday.
Thanks for the translation! ^_^
That made me laugh, but then again, I can think of a whole lot of things that Lina Inverse could be put in and I would laugh about, such as making Lina Inverse be a leader of a criminal organization that is harder to track down than a mafia syndicate.
Ha!ha! 😀
REALLY wish this was canon. That would be hilariously great.
It truly would. And OVA showing such a crossover would be something I’d be going, “Shut up and take my money already!” 😆
