Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory 03
フルメタル・パニック!Invisible Victory episode 03
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Amalgam launches its full on assault of the Mithril base on Merida Island. Tessa has AS units deployed to deal with the three, massive, Behemoth AS units coming on shore. The Behemoth are easily able to withstand attacks from normal weapons, so the Mithril AS squad is divided into three teams. In one team, the two AS units cause a distraction to allow Kurz to get a sniper shot to help disable the Behemoth AS’s Lambda Drive, which is the only thing that keeps the enormous AS unit from collapsing under its own weight.
Kurz’s second shot misses, so Speck sacrifices himself to allow Kurz to take down the Behemoth. The remaining two Behemoth units continue coming on shore, attacking and destroying as they do so. Mao’s AS unit gets heavily damaged and her superior officer gives her cover to escape, dying in the process. Tessa gives the order to prepare the Tuatha de Danaan for immediate launch even though it isn’t fully fueled. Back in Japan, Kaname has calmed down and agrees to help Sousuke come up with a plan to save their friends.
Thoughts/Review:
The game is certainly afoot with Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory 03. Lots of stuff going down for sure.
Amalgam’s Offensive
I recall the episode in the original Full Metal Panic, where Kurz took out a lone Behemoth AS unit via his sniper skills. So here, it was not surprising to me that he could take out one. However, with two other Behemoth units on the move and an invasion force not far behind, it is clear that Mitrhil won’t win this fight.
Since Tessa is having the Tuatha de Danaan launch without fully fueling, it also seems clear that the writers want to keep up the pressure on Mithril and Tessa’s bunch. So I can see them in a desperate flight for their lives, low on resources, with Amalgam hot on their tails.
Sousuke and Kaname
Our love birds didn’t have a ton to do in this episode. However, I am glad with the path they are on. Initially, I had hoped that maybe Kaname would say, “We can’t give up and thus our friends may pay the price.” That’s because that would have been an interesting twist. However, I’m glad this is not the path they took.
From the looks of things, it appears that Kaname is going to use her Whispered powers to come up with a plan to save her and Sousuke’s friends at high school. I’m looking forward to seeing what she comes up with. I like the idea of she and Sousuke doing their tag-team thing to save the day.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
I’ve got limited time on a good Internet access, so I better wrap up while I can. So far, I like the rapid-pace of the series so far. I know that some have wondered about the lack of humor, but this series is based on the light novels, and those were all serious. Only the short story compilations contained the comical stories. So I don’t mind that we haven’t seen the comic elements.
In the end, Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory 03 is a very good, action-filled episode. I’m looking forward to seeing more, whenever I’m able.
