Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 179
Tonikaku Kawaii Fly Me to the Moon 179
トニカクカワイイ 179
Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:
Kaguya explores the rundown Kyoumaru Mansion. She finds no logic in the creation of the fake mansion to protect the real one. Nor does she understand Tokiko’s reasons for buying this place. As such, Kaguya decides to uncover the secret. Hotaru stops her because it is rude. Further, she suggests that they help Tsukasa and Nasa with whatever needs doing.
Tsukasa sends Nasa and his three students to get more fish from the stream. Hotaru wants to know how old Tsukasa is. This leads to chat about their private life. Meanwhile, Chitose asks Tsukasa if anyone has ever found the mansion before. Tsukasa says that Kaguya is the first, making her special. As such, Chitose wonders if Kaguya will be able to figure out Tsukasa’s secret.
After the group return with more fish, Kaguya asks Chitose if she’s Tokiko’s granddaughter and Shiori’s daughter. Apparently, Kaguya is a fan of Shiori’s artwork and owns some of her picture books. Tsukasa sends Chitose to the cellar to get salt and picked plums. Kaguya volunteers to go with her since helping is important.
In the cellar, Kaguya sees that Tokiko must have spent years hiding this.
Thoughts/Review:
On the surface, not a lot happened in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 179. But it was an enjoyable chapter all the same.
Detective Kaguya
Probably the most interesting part of Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 179 was the initial pages. Here, Kaguya recounts her encounter with Tsukasa in chapter 118. Back then, it seemed the manga might be ending. Also, I speculated that it might be possible that Kaguya and Tsukasa could be the same person.
I mention this because in the previous, Kaguya appears to be making a wish that Tsukasa heard or responded to. I don’t think they are the same person, but it is interesting that whenever Kaguya thought about this encounter, she did NOT know Tsukasa and didn’t know why she asked if the long journey was over. There’s a clue there, but knowing Hata-sensei, it is hard to cypher out.
That aside, Kaguya is certainly a very curious person. Indeed, she’s almost like Sherlock Holmes in the way she sees things others don’t. Her mind spins through possible reasons for things. As such, Kyoumaru Mansion and its mysteries appeal to the detective in her.
I am curious as to what specifically Kaguya discovered in the cellar. Having salt and pickled plums stored in old barrels certainly indicates age. So what else might have startled her?
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 179 gives us Kaguya’s take on her first encounter with Tsukasa. And she seems to be closing in on Tsukasa’s secret. Good stuff and some funny bits as well.
