Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

Nasa explains to Tsukasa why he took the mock exams, despite not going for college/university. After hearing this, Tsukasa finds Nasa’s intelligence has caused him to loop back to stupid. She feels that the student he beat probably won’t be happy.

Elsewhere, Himari probes Asimo on his moping over placing second in the mock exams. Thanks to this, she gets him to admit that despite not being first, coming in second is still an incredible accomplishment. He vows to get first next time, so Himari makes a bet with him. If Asimo loses, he has to do whatever she asks him. He agrees, providing if he wins, she does whatever he asks. She agrees, and includes lewd things to the mix.

That evening, Nasa feels he wants to take the next mock exam.

Thoughts/Review:

I gotta say, Himari is probably the most erotic character Hata-sensei has ever created. As we saw in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 227, she used this gyaru eroticism to snap Asimo out of his depression and to make him see that not ending up in first wasn’t the end of the world. While lewd discussions have happened in other Hata-sensei works, Himari’s offer to do lewd things has to be a first. Correct me if I’m wrong.

As to Nasa taking the mock exam, Hata-sensei providing a flashback to explain how this came about made Nasa look a bit better. But at the same time, the fact that he wants to take the next mock exam seems excessive to me. After all, he has nothing to gain from this, except maybe getting a perfect score. He was already in first place, so anything else is just rubbish.

However, this is how Hata-sensei is not only setting up a double love triangle, but also a rivalry between Asimo and Nasa. To me, it feels forced and I’m not sure I’m liking the direction the story is going. I think Hata-sensei knows this, which is why he had Tsukasa mention that Nasa had looped around to stupid. 😂

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, I cannot say that I disliked Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 227. But at the same time, I don’t like the direction the manga is seemingly taking. But we’ll see what future chapters hold.
