Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

Nasa has a dream-memory where a very young Himari and he discuss the death of her father and his cat. As such, she declares him to be her lover. He heads out after saying goodbye to Tsukasa in the bathhouse. Tsukasa starts pondering Aya’s claims of Nasa’s popularity with girls.

Meanwhile, Himari tells Asimo he looks better without glasses, suggesting he get contacts. However, she gets self conscious and changes her mind. The two then head for the library so that Himari can get a book. Himari teases Asimo as he becomes enamored with this new side of her.

Nasa shows up to hand Himari a charm she dropped.

Thoughts/Review:

So the love-triangle-thingy presses forward in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 230. Normally, Hata-sensei is very good about setting up foreshadowing. However, in this case, I don’t believe he actually had a plan for Himari. I suspect she was just some no-name girl who made fun of Nasa back in the past. But now, she’s some major player from Nasa’s early childhood.

To be honest, this Himari and Asimo story arc feels like procrastination. It isn’t that I want the manga to end or anything. However, there’s no progress on the main plot at all. And we don’t learn more about Tsukasa’s past. As such, this feels a delaying tactic. Hata-sensei loved those in Hayate the Combat Butler. I don’t mind per se, but I’m just not liking the romantic rivals stuff.

Still, I can’t say that I hate Himari. She’s fine. Plus, I’m a sucker for the hot babe going for the studious type boy. And in the end, I believe we’ll see Himari and Asimo become a couple.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 230 was fine for what it was. Now that Himari conveniently sees Nasa again, we’ll see where things go.
