SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Natsu’s final blow on Dogramag leads to his death. However, before he dies, he proclaims that the seed has been planted and humanity is doomed. With his death, the labyrinth collapses. However, both Natsu and Suzaku are too weak to escape. The wounded Misaki and Haku arrive and save them by turning them into plushies.

Outside, the collapse of the dungeon causes an earthquake. Skullion, Madmole, and Kirin emerge, shortly followed by Misaki and Haku. The members of Diabolos put the members of Fairy Tail up and they have a banquet. During the meal, Diabolos reveal what they know of alchemist.

When the conversation turns to god Serena, Wendy loudly proclaims that Serena cannot be alive, thanks to Irene. Misaki speculates that Serena is likely the result of bodily transmutation.

Suzaku brings up the uncomfortable fact that Team Natsu’s goal is to kill Selene whereas Diabolos wants to protect her and build the world she longs for. This causes Team Natsu to question whether they are the villains or not. When Natsu considers Selene, he apparently decides she’s not all bad.

Thoughts/Review:

As expected, Diabolos and Fairy Tail are no longer enemies in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 118. They aren’t allies yet, which is what I called for, they do have a truce, at least for now. The elephant in the room is Selene, and this chapter brings that up, but leaves us hanging. Wendy apparently cannot properly heal Selene. So that pretty much leaves her death. If that happens, it is possible Diabolos returns to being antagonists. However, I still think Diabolos become allies, following the usual pattern.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 118

The other option is an arse-pull, whereby Mashima-sensei magics up a way to save Selene. The problem with this theory is how does it fit with the actual quest Team Natsu are on? Granted, Mercphobia is still alive, but supposedly had his dragon powers removed, even though we saw him in dragon form. That said, I’m sure if Mashima-sensei wants to keep her alive, he’ll think of some BS reason.

The other item of interest in the chapter is Serena. Irene knows he’s actually dead. Yet he has an apparent, living body, and doesn’t appear to know he’s actually the undead of a sort. Gotta give it to Mashima-sensei for constantly finding new ways to bring back the dead.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 118 resolves the Dogramag story, and appears to start the alliance between Fairy Tail and Diabolos. The chapter also appears to continue to set the table for a conflict with Gold Owl.
