Record of Lodoss War (TV) 20
SPOILER Summary:
As the dark wizard Wagnard lays his plans, Spark’s party meets with Parn and Deed (Leaf having some hero-worship of Deed). As Parn begins to update Spark on world events, the narrator takes over and we learn that King Kashue managed to finally kill Duke Raster at the Alania capital of Allan, thus ensuring Alania’s surrender and Kashue’s forces can now be directed at Marmo. King Etoh also decided to bring Valis into the fight officially and declared a holy war and using powerful magic, made his troops holy warriors.
Parn enlists the aid of Spark and some of his party as they ambush a convoy of Marmo supplies, beating off the reinforcements that also arrived on the scene. Returning to the Kanon Free Army fort, Neese notices Spark is injured and insists he allow her to treat it. This is noticed by several in Spark’s party, including Leaf and Ryna, who arrange for the two to be alone. When Spark and Neese return, Ryna and Leaf set upon Neese, wanting to know all that happened while Garrack teases Spark about it, much to Spark’s dismay and Aldo’s over-protective irritation.
At the feast that night, Leaf and Ryna have dressed Neese up. Deed recognizes romance when she sees it and decides that she and Parn have not danced in ages. They dance and the group gets Spark to dance with Neese. Later in the night, Spark and Neese are again alone and Neese tells him of her happiness. As they talk, the full moon goes red and Wagnard arrives and kidnaps Neese under Spark’s nose.
Thoughts:
Well, looks like the writers needed to get Spark and Neese a real romance going since there hadn’t been one before (or not much). I don’t mind romance at all, so even if a tad forced, it was fine. I liked how Parn and Deed still are very much in love after all this time though.
