Happy Independence Day for those in the U.S.

It’s July 4th and that means officially it is a time for we Americans to celebrate our independence from Great Britain. Unofficially, that thought never enters our mind as it is a time for hitting the road for vacation, firing up the grill or barbecue, hitting the beach or pool, and generally just taking it easy.

Oh yeah, and there’s those fireworks if you are fortunate enough to live in a state where the nanny’s haven’t destroyed the pursuit of happiness though the setting off of various small explosives. *_*

Regardless, I hope that those of you who have the day off have a good one and those who have to work (my brothers and sisters in the IT/IS field especially), I hope you have a quiet day/night. ^_^

Unfortunately I couldn’t afford fireworks this year, and the chances are my folks will be too tired to go anywhere.

Well either way, here’s to the 4th of July, and North Korea hopefully not blowing up Hawaii.

Ugh… it sucks living in California on the 4th of July. You can never get any fireworks without driving for like half an hour. And even then, they’re still illegal.

The only reason I realized today was July 4th was because of how Google changes the “Google” sign on different holidays and special occasions….

@orion — In Colorado, you can score some fireworks, but nothing that leaves the ground. So sparklers, snakes, and implosion things are all legal. I’m not sure if regular firecrackers are or not. Bottle rockets and the like are not and while one could bring them in from Wyoming, apparently if the cops find you in possession of such fireworks is enough to get you thrown in jail (or so I’m informed).

Supposedly, these laws were enacted to protect the children since some got hurt using fireworks.

@anon — I can understand not realizing most holidays.

Sadly, I was not having a very good or quiet day πŸ™ That is until I checked in here and found the new Negima spoilers! Thanks for brightening up my day, Astro ^_^

@ANB: I also hear children are often hurt by items as varied as bathtubs, bicycles, and gasbag politicians. So they’ll be banning those soon as well, eh? (^_^)
