I’m Missing Full Metal Panic

I’m Missing Full Metal Panic

I was reading a bit more about the announcement of more Shakugan no Shana goodness and then the rumor that we may be in for a new Inuyasha series this fall. For some reason, this made me start thinking about one of my favorite franchises, Full Metal Panic.

Full Metal Panic
I know Kyoto Animation has a full plate at the moment, especially if they are involved in a new Inuyasha project. I also know that for the main story to proceed, the best solution would be to wait for Gatoh-sensei to complete the light novels, thus giving the anime writers a clear picture of how everything ends up. That said, I do know there are more than enough short stories to produce another 13-episode comedy series like Full Metal Panic ~Fumoffu~.

Full Metal Panic
Oh well.

In the meantime, there are always these delightful images to look at and I can always go to the archives and pull my FMP discs off the shelf to rewatch them should I really need a fix. ^_^

Found myself thinking about FMP the other day as well; wound up reading a bunch of the manga after finding out there’s no new anime. Something in the air, maybe?

Oh yeah, I remember… it was running across a Gates reference on tvtropes that did it. TSR was one seriously dark series, all the more coming on the heels of Fumoffu. No complaints, though – they did an amazing job with it.

  2. I have the same feeling… Testarossa-chwan!!!

But, at the moment, I’d prefer Kyo Animation finish “Endless Eight”… ¬¬

They have way more than enough story for maybe 3 animes. Why they wait for the end of the story before animating it confounds me.

And I find TSR to be an anime I have to be cautious of due to my schedule, cause even seeing one episode of it makes me watch the entire thing again.

@Arimareiji — TSR was dark and from what I gather, the main story gets even darker.

    @Jesús — I’ve not seen “Endless Eight.”

@Anon — I think they’d wait for the main story due to how there’s no break for a series to end on. With “TSR,” the production team could take two light novels and combined with assistance from Gatoh-sensei, make some extra episodes to properly synch TSR with the original series (Gonzo changed some things that KyoAni had to fix in TSR from what I understand).

By endless eight, I believe he’s talking about the current Haruhi story arc.

Also, I’ve been wanting to watch Full Metal Panic for a while now, because the lead female role has the same voice and voice actor as Mion and Shion from Higurashi, which is like #2 on my top 4 list.

Sorry if I’m spoiling plotline by saying too much, but what they’re doing with the Endless Eight arc of the new Haruhi is evil. Yes, we get it, you’re clever by repeating the same *&^%&!$% episode four times and counting to make a point. Yes, we get that you’re making slight changes so that it’s not completely recycled. Now go spend all that effort on animating new material, please?

Or to quote the Python – Holy Grail crowd scene, “GET ON WITH IT!”
