Three Years of Anime and Manga Blogging!
Man, has it already been three years since I got my late start into anime blogging? Wow!
I should have started blogging sooner, but I was writing for CAR way back when and writing a blog didn’t seem to be something I wanted to do. It wasn’t until the episode feature was added to CAR that the idea of doing a blog became something I was interested in. Still, I knew that as a late comer to the table, it would be an uphill battle to gain readers, but I have and though I’m still not as big as those guys who’ve been around the block for several years (or who post hentai materials for cheap traffic draw), I’m amazed at the traffic I pull, which continues to grow. As such, I want to thank you all for supporting this blog, both in terms of continued readership, your purchases through Amazon, and those wonderful “clicks” you do. ^_^
I do plan on trying one change this year — smaller summaries. Believe it or not, summaries take up the largest amount of my writing time. That’s because I usually end up rewatching the episode in question, stopping, and writing some. I experimented with White Album on shorter summaries and I think I’m going to do something similar for most titles. There will always be exceptions though. ^_~
Regardless, I’m hoping that the shortened blogging time will be less of a burden on my sometimes overpopulated plate and help me keep current on anime. Over the last month, I’ve fallen behind on some titles and I’d like to avoid that if possible.
Again, thanks for all your support over the last three years. Here’s to a productive fourth year of blogging. ^_^
I recently celebrated three years of blogging too, back in October (though I’ve had my regular web site for over seven years ^^) Congrats!
A belated congrats to you as well. ^_^
The “astronerdboy.com” domain has been around since 1997 I believe (I’d have to check to be sure) so I’ve got ya beat there by a few years. ^_~
Congrats, AstroNerdBoy. I think I’ve only been coming here for a year or so, but you have good stuffs.
Since you mentioned them in passing, I actually wanted to ask you how much do Google and Amazon give back to bloggers for their ads getting clicked? I usually only click on ads on the sites I like that I know have to pay for their hosting, but if I it helps you out, I could do that here as well to repay you for sacrificing your sleep all the time to hunt down early Negima spoilers for us. I just don’t really feel like doing it if it’s only worth tiny fractions of a penny, because spending time clicking on ads is boring and you have free hosting here.
Thanks, Hayabusa. As to Google, it depends on the ad. I’ve no idea what pays what. I’ve seen days where there are lots of clicks and a certain amount paid and other days where only a few clicks happen and a similar amount goes out. So clearly, some ads pay more than others but they don’t tell us which ones are the good paying ads (obviously). I can say that ads are worth a lot more than fractions though not as much as they used to be (the economy, you understand).
As to Amazon, I get a sales commission for anything purchased at Amazon from a click on a product I’m selling (whether that product is purchased or not). The commission is on a tier system where the more I sale, the higher percentage I can get. ^_^ I don’t get anything for the click other than tell Amazon that I sent traffic their way.
Thanks for helping. ^_^
Congratulations!
Your ‘AstroNerdBoy’s Anime and Manga Blog is been 3 years old?! @.@
Man…i love yours blog especially negima’s spoilers…
Gambateh!AstroNerdBoy!
^.^
Thanks. Always glad to be of service. ^_^
I recently got into Sherman’s Lagoon after reading some stuff you wrote about this comic strip elsewhere. I went ahead and bought all the books through you and wondered if you got credit for that.
Checking…ah yes. I see a number of comic strip book purchases including “Sherman’s Lagoon.” Thanks. ^_^ I’ve loved that strip for years.
It’s really great to love what you’re doing and making the most out of it. 😀
Thanks for the continuous hard work AstroNerdBoy! 🙂
You’re welcome. ^_^
I didn’t know that’s how Amazon sales worked. I’ll just make sure to go to Amazon from your blog from here on out.
Yeah me too, if this is how it works. I don’t really want to waste my time clicking on random ads, so it’s good to know that AstroNerdBoy gets an Amazon commission even if the item purchased isn’t the one he’s linking to. I thought it had to be the same product, which would make it pretty hard to help him out, because I’m not about to buy something I don’t want just to be nice. This way though it’s easy enough to do. You better keep up the good work then, AstroNerdBoy! 🙂
Congratulations on going three years. I hope you continue to stick around because I love your Negima posts and I read your other stuff too, even if I’m not watching it.
