Ahh, the drought is over. Looks like an amazing chapter… and what a dramatic end.

  2. Devilen says:

Craig goes puff in a deadly way? … that’d be a first

  3. Anonymous says:

Holy crap, I think I see Jack!!
Did they make him into a slave or something?

  4. Anonymous says:

    Its a Mana-Nodoka chapter!

  5. arimareiji says:

Oh dear. It looks like the speculation everyone had about most MM people being easily-dispelled magical constructs was right after all.

Which probably explains almost everything up to now – why there was such a big deal about whether Chachamaru has a soul or is just a “thing,” why there’s been such a big deal about how much the girls love the people they’ve met, why Rakan’s and the Ariadne Knights’ magic isn’t working against Fate and the shadow minions, why Asuna’s Magic Cancel is so important to Fate’s plans, and last but not least, why Gödel isn’t an evil genocidal maniac for thinking they can be written off in trying to save the rest of the world. As the quote goes, “There really aren’t that many evil men out there. It’s mostly just good men working at cross-purposes.”

One quick speculation, now that a lot of the ones we had have been confirmed: Natsumi’s opera glasses are going to prove invaluable in the immediate future. I still think their primary purpose is in letting her cast illusions a la the first anime, but I’m betting they’ll also let her see through illusions.

And a nitpick, with apologies to the Tatsumiya Mana fans… after leaving it on a cliffhanger for weeks, spending eight pages just to show her shooting stuff? C’mon, Akamatsu-sensei, that’s right up there with “And finally, we anounce the winner… right after this discussion of the history of the awards ceremony!”

  6. AstroNerdBoy says:

I’m betting some people had fan-gasams at seeing Mana shoot up the joint and summon weapons on the fly.

I note she lost her horns, so that would appear to have just been part of her costume and not an indication of where she’s from.

I also note that the Mage of the Beginning (or whatever the mage with the key is) knew Nodoka’s name. ^_^

  7. Anonymous says:

Man, looks like the proverbial crap just hit the fan. Maybe we’ll finally learn what actually happened to Asuna? And Anya makes her triumphant return a year and a half later!

But man, this fight is going to be epic.

  8. SL from MH says:

The mage with the key in this chapter isn’t MoB but is one of the helper of Fate.
Also the last page has the characters which reads “Code of the Lifemaker”.
And by the looks of it, seems like Ken has finally decided to speed up things because i think the truth about the magic world would be reveal in the next chapter (which some people previously speculated would have happened around 10-15 chapters after Nodoka got that info from Godel in ch 273).

Note:- Thanks ‘ANB’ for posting the pics quickly.

  9. AstroNerdBoy says:

YW and thanks for letting me know. ^_^ I was going to share the love with our Japanese cousins, but I forgot that many Japanese boards block non-Japanese IP’s from posting anything. Oh well.

  10. arimareiji says:

Japanese boards ban non-Japanese IPs from posting? That’s… different.

I was familiar with the fact streaming anime sites like Funi often ban other countries from content, but that’s the first I’ve heard of banning communication except in places like China or Burma.

  11. SL from MH. says:

I didn’t notice this before but in spoiler pic 4, does Mana really bring out that big gun from between her breast.
Can’t really say it surely because of the poor quality, but thats what it looks like. So can anyone confirm it for me.

  12. SL from MH says:

@ ANB: Well, i think everyone in Fate’s group would know about Nodoka since because of her mind reading artifact which is considered to be dangerous by Fate.

Also on more careful observation of the spoiler pic, it seems Negi asks Nodoka about the info from Godel which she seems to start telling him but with the sudden collaspe of that bridge she is unable to do it & her diary for some reason ends up with Negi (so he would be the first one to know about the truth). Meaning she would not understand what that “Shadow-Doll” Mage did to Craig.

  13. Philip says:

the one with the key is the demon thing of K.E.

It appears it is going to prevent Negi and co. from leaving…

  14. Anonymous says:

Have you tried a proxy ANB? That might get you around the Japanese blocks.

  15. AstroNerdBoy says:

@arimareiji — Yep. I discovered that some time back that on two major Japanese boards, including 2ch, I cannot post anything. I was able to post on 2ch once from a satellite connection but otherwise they ban several major ISP’s from the U.S. for whatever reason. Another board literally bans all non-Japanese IP’s, no matter what.

    @Anon — Yeah, I’ve tried the proxies. The boards reject all proxy post attempts via web-based proxies. Through server proxies, I’ve only had luck with one group of Japanese servers, but those proxy servers strip out code when delivering web pages (the effect is to remove most ads) but as a result, it also removes the code to check for IP’s which results in a general failure when attempting to post something. Other proxy IP’s I’ve had no luck in getting to work and I’m not paying for some list of proxies just to make a post. ^_^;

@SL — the gun is coming from her chest. There’s an arrow below the stock indicating movement upward. Since Mana is using magic to summon reloads, it is logical that she’d be able to summon other weapons the same way. Of course, Akamatsu-sensei can’t resist the paizuri imagery. *_*

Regarding Nodoka, it is true that Fate’s group would know her. However, since there are some who believe this might be Asuna as the Code of the Lifemaker, then this might be an indication that this is Asuna recognizing a classmate.

Interesting that when Craig gets blasted, the Lifemaker says “rewrite.” I wonder if that means that Craig will be reassembled.

One other thing — Craig doesn’t have the elf-ears, horns, nor anything else to indicate he wasn’t human. I can’t remember if his race is stated or not, but I seem to remember thinking he was human who’d hooked up with these two “elf” babes (I use the term “elf” since the Japanese tend to draw elves with those kinds of ears).

@Philip — so it would seem

  16. Anonymous says:

It is a bit confusing how the Mage of the Beginning and Fate’s shadow mage ally look so similar (both being ominous cloaked figures and all), but this definitely seems to be the shadow guy. It’s interesting that he has one of those Code of the Lifemaker keyblade things as well, it seems there must be more than one of them assuming this is happening at the same time as fate’s battle with Rakan.

  17. 5yewy says:

I don’t think that’s Asuna at the end there, he’s way too big. Looks like the shadow guy to me. But didn’t we just see him outside summoning the huge tentacle monsters and crap? Did he just move back inside or what? >_>

I think the shadow guy is a construct of the Mage of the Beginning too, since I recall Fate talking to them and saying “That’s why WE were made.” after he comments on Rakan being alive. He might have meant the past averruncuses though…

    And maybe now Nodoka will fall for Craig…if he survives and the theory that everyone form the magic world are just puppets is disproved.Is Ken predictably setting up for a Negi x Asuna ending? =.=;;

  18. Devilen says:

Mana got the biggest HyperGunSpace as of yet 😛

  19. arimareiji says:

And maybe now Nodoka will fall for Craig…if he survives and the theory that everyone form the magic world are just puppets is disproved.

Not much chance at this point of any of the three, but lower-probability things have happened – like f’rinstance Konoka/Setsuna becoming semi-canon. (I’d have used the word “constructs” rather than “puppets”, though. They obviously have free will.)

Is Ken predictably setting up for a Negi x Asuna ending?

Akamatsu-sensei is ecchi-er than the average bear, no doubt. But I think it’s anything but predictable that he’s going to hook up Asuna with 1) her nephew, by all surface appearances, or 2) her sister’s husband, by the hypothesis ANB has advanced. I suspect we’ve already seen how he feels about incest endings – remember how creepy Kanako’s desire for Keitaro was portrayed as being in Love Hina?

  20. henwy says:

This is awful. If I could give myself a temporary mental lobotomy that could make me forget Negima existed for a year, I would. Waiting for each chapter to come out is its own form of torture.

  21. blerry.com says:

mana is taking out a big gun

  22. Aria says:

First Takamichi is out. Then, Mana comes, and now Craig.

I would guess Tosaka would be the next and last person to join this battle.

  23. Anonymous says:

holy crap. mana looks amazing in this chapter.

  24. It seems that way in that Asuna seems to be almost set up to be with Negi. But there are two things that don’t seem right with that ending.

1 – Asuna is not here in the current chapter which suspects me to believe that Fate is making the “Past Asuna” come forth to the present, since there is no scene about the events after Asuna (and Anya, who is pretty much forgotten) is captured in Fate’s dungeon.

2 – (as pointed out By Arimanejii The ending sounds too incestuous for Akamatsu’s taste [as pointed out in Chao Lingshen [ch 162]… and Kanako Urashima [in Love Hina] (even though Asuna is the version of “Naru” in Negima

  25. SL from MH says:

Raws for this ch is out on ‘RP’. If anyone wishes to see them, check there.

  26. cjones says:

Japan’s got some serious bandwidth issues and gets trolled by 4chan types in droves. Since theirs isn’t a common language anyway, it just solves most of their problems keeping oft targetted boards to themselves. Still sucks for the few of us that actually want to contribute, though.

The shadow mage says “Miyazaki Nodoka… I am told you are dangerous. Better to get rid of you.” When Craig interferes she mutters, “Noisy puppet.” The theory gains more points.

  27. AstroNerdBoy says:

Funny how Nodoka, who has the least power when it comes to a fight, is seen as the most dangerous member of Ala Alba. ^_^

  28. arimareiji says:

    @ANB, a mostly-silly note:

It just goes to show that Fate is genre-savvy… Negi? Much too nice to seriously hurt someone who’s not begging for it. Rakan? He’ll just put you in the hospital, all in good fun.

But go up against the Power Of Love? Better get someone to start working on your tombstone. (^_~)

Hell may have no fury like a woman scorned, but that’s weak sauce compared to what she’ll do in defense of family or the person she loves.

  29. AstroNerdBoy says:

So, Nodoka is about to become unleashed, eh? ^_~

  30. cjones says:

Might as well toss in an extra in case a bad scanlation messes it up…

Mana:”J. Rakan hired me to watch over you.”
Asuna:”That per– Mr. Rakan did that?”
Mana:”We’ll talk later. First we withdraw from this mess.”
Asuna:”Withdraw… as in run away? What about all of them?!”
Mana:”Them?” [spread shot of monsters] “Too much trouble at these numbers. Besides, it was never in my contract.”
Asuna:”There are children here. You have to help!”
Mana:”My job is to be your bodyguard. The rest isn’t my concern.”
Asuna:”WHAT?! Really– really!? I can’t believe you’re that kind of person!”
Mana:”I am very much that kind of person. Also bothering with them puts you at risk.”
Asuna:”… Fine! Then I’ll hire you! How’s that?!”
Mana:”My bullets are damned rich for a papergirl’s salary, princess.”
Asuna:”I’ll… I’ll pay you after I make it big!”
Mana:”Hm.” [looking humored] “Good enough. You look like you might do just that.”
    [Everything dies.]
Misora:”What the humanoid typhoon… And how did she pull out that gun, magic cleavage?”
    [Even more things die.]
Mana:”Not so sturdy. I’ll give you a discount, Kagurazaka.”

  31. arimareiji says:

Yup. Paru’s “Dark Nodoka” will have nothing on the real one. By the time she gets done with Fate, he’ll be begging for mercy from Chachazero. (^_~)

  32. SL from MH says:

    Thanks fro the translation “cjones”.
I have posted that in some of the other MSN forums i have an account in (with full credit about it to you of course).
Note:- If you have any problem with that then tell me, i would just remove those posts.

  33. AstroNerdBoy says:

    Thanks for the translation. ^_^

  34. cjones says:

    @SL from MH
That’s fine. Having it reach a wider audience is quite a bonus.

    @AstroNerdBoy
Thanks for all the early previews.

  35. AstroNerdBoy says:

    You’re welcome. ^_^

  36. arimareiji says:

    @cjones: Thanks a million. (^_^)

  37. Philip says:

I read in the theories thread of the AQS forum that Nodoka could upgrade from a mere mind-reader to a telekinetic person…

  38. AstroNerdBoy says:

That would be an interesting “power up.” ^_^

  39. Anonymous says:

Could Nagi be lifemaker? I mean, both dissapeared, and people say Nagi is “still out there”, why not the antaganist? 8D
But that would be so intresting, see negi taking off the mask to find his father! *O*
    ITS SO GOSSIP GIRL(j.k. xD)

  40. AstroNerdBoy says:

That would make me laugh. ^_^
