Fate/Zero – 22

フェイト/ゼロ Episode 22
Fate/Zero – 22

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Fate/Zero - 22Waver returns to the home of the elderly couple he’s enthralled, only to find the old man on the roof wanting to speak to him up there. Rider encourages Waver to go up, so he does, where he discovers the old man has discovered the truth that Waver isn’t their grandson, but since Waver has been better to them than their real grandchildren. As such, Waver ends up watching the sun rise with the old man, fulfilling the old man’s dream. Meanwhile, Kiritsugu is at the temple atop Mt. Enzou and planning how to kill Kirei as well as lamenting the fact that he’s alone again. Saber reports that she’s been unable to find Iri and requests he use a Command Spell to summon her again if she is needed.

Fate/Zero - 22Meanwhile, Kirei interrogates Iri at Caster’s former hideout, where he learns of Kiritsugu’s wish to have peace, which would cause the end of humanity. He breaks her neck, sending her spirit to the place within the Grail, which shows signs of darkness. That night, Rider and Waver observe a series of signal flares that indicate victory in the war, but which Rider determines are a challenge. Waver burns his three Command Spells to free Rider, but Rider considers Waver a friend and equal and takes him into battle anyway.  Saber has also seen the flares and rides to the location as Kiritsugu also prepares to head out.  Kirei has Archer go out, and promises him to have Berserker keep Saber occupied should she arrive. He also agrees to return should Kirei need him, but can’t promise not to damage the Grail since he’s going to be fighting unleashed.

Thoughts/Review:

Again, one of the strengths of this series for me is the character work that has been done.  Starting with Waver, though he is afraid and shows his fear a lot, Rider has respected him for doing what he could in combat and always being there with Rider. Waver’s burning of his Command Spells is basically his giving up on the Grail and letting Rider have it, but since Rider considers him a friend and equal, Waver goes into the final battle. Question is, does he survive?  It would be neat if he did, but I don’t see that as possible. I figure he’ll probably die afraid, but at the same time, brave.

Fate/Zero - 22

I liked the moment that Waver had on the roof with the old man.  Despite his flaws and despite the fact that he had the elderly couple bewitched into thinking he was their grandson, he has been kind to them and brought them a measure of happiness, which is another reason I’d like to see Waver live.

Fate/Zero - 22

I would have thought that killing Iri would have harmed the Grail since she’s the vessel, but I guess not.  It really is unfortunate knowing what I knew will happen regarding her, but oh well.

Fate/Zero - 22

I’m going to guess that Berserker sent up those flairs to attract Saber and Rider as well as Kiritsugu.  I also guess that we’ll finally learn whom this Berserker is.

Fate/Zero - 22

I got a little chill at Kiritsugu being at the temple on Mt. Enzou, especially when Saber went up there. That’s because the place plays such a major role in Fate/stay night.

Fate/Zero - 22

Only four more episodes to watch how this plays out. I’m looking forward to them.

Iri’s heart is the vessel, the body itself is not important and only exists to protect the vessel. You just have to make sure she is placed at one of the four gates where the grail will descend and everything should be fine.
That’s what Kirei did in FSN with Ilya too, after all.

Other than that, I was always wondering how much stronger the Command Spells made Rider. Since his and Waver’s wishes are the same and the Command Spells are big masses of mana, he should get a great power boost. On the other hand, using Ionian Hetairoi twice already and losing Gordius Wheel must have weakened him a lot.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

I didn’t know that. Good to know (even though I know the outcome).

That usually means that the character would receive some very special death treatment. It’s an old trick in TV and movies and frankly – it’s overdone.

T-minus four hours till the end.

No doubt the taxing proposal at the ITU sucks, but let’s stay rational here.

ANB, why you’re slamming the UN for this and not the greedy European telcos who made the proposal at the ITU? I hope you’re not going by the sensationalist and misleading title of the article. Whoever came up with the idea of the UN taxing everyone is nuts. The UN wouldn’t be taxing anyone under this, that would be done by the participating countries.

evgenidb, it wouldn’t just be non-US users, it would be a mutual thing between whomever. They say it like that because the article is written from the POV of US companies’ interests. I can guarantee you that if the big content providers weren’t domestic, our Govt would be cheering this proposal.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I don’t care who proposed it. The fact is, the UN is the one who’s DREAMED of doing this as part of their ongoing agenda to eventually run the world. Look up Agenda 21 sometime. *_*

You don’t have to be short with me just because I’m not into your conspiracy theories. I guess it doesn’t matter to you that we spend almost as much on the military as the rest of the world combined. I guess to you this means we’re preparing to surrender to the UN pencil pushers, because the pen is mightier than the sword. I guess you also think UNSC permanent members US, China and Russia are only pretending to have major differences on almost every issue in world politics, they’re really all puppets of UN black magic working in harness.

The UN is as likely to rule the world any time soon as the King of Conquerors is.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Sorry. I wasn’t trying to be short with you, but looking at what I wrote, I can see it could EASILY be taken that way. ^_^;;;;;;;; For that, I do apologize.

Anyway, Agenda 21 isn’t conspiracy, nor is it a conspiracy that the UN has dreamed of running Earth. A conspiracy is something done in secret. They’ve been pretty open about this, and whenever you hear or see ads about “sustainable living,” that’s all part of Agenda 21. You nudge people in the way you want to go, this time, by getting them to do things in the name of saving the environment.

There are a lot of power-hungry people in this world. Hitler took over Germany, and they VOTED him in because he promised he could make it better. The National Socialist weren’t seen as evil, even in America at the start, because of all of the social programs and the like the National Socialists rolled out to help the people. Eventually, they made those evil, rich Jews a scapegoat and well the rest is history. The German people were nudged in the direction Hitler wanted until they were ready to fight and die for him. It is amazing what people will do and give up when there’s a perceived crisis.

If you didn’t mean to be short then no problem.

The reason I called it a conspiracy theory is that last time I checked, the UN isn’t an independent entity by any stretch of imagination. You talk about it like it’s something coming from the bowels of the earth or from outer space to take over. It’s really completely at the mercy of the whims of its member countries. Its main problem it its ineffectiveness and INABILITY to get anything significant done. Even if someone working at the UN wanted to rule the world, they simply don’t have any way to accomplish this, because they don’t have a separate power base. It’s more likely that a country or a group of countries would try to use the UN to take over. It’s very unlikely to succeed, but it’s a lot more plausible than the abstract “UN” taking over anything. I can see why it’s useful to scapegoat the UN though, because it’s not as easy as it used to be for our Govt to get most of the UN to fall in line with our “national interests”. Often these interests would do the world a lot of good, but often enough they’re selfish. In any case it’s pointless to bring the Nazis getting voted in into this, because the UN was never elected by anyone and has no power to enforce anything in any of its member countries. Only countries or coalitions of countries with actual power can do that, and them using the UN aegis to make it look legit doesn’t for one second mean that it’s the UN doing it independently. Just because the Federal Govt is always trying to grab more power from the States doesn’t mean the UN can do the same. It’s simply not the same kind of system and it’s not useful to make a bogeyman out of it when we have enough real problems.
