Hi folks!Β For this third series, I’ve opted to marathon the series and blog the results.Β That’s because I have about 20-volumes of manga that demand my attention, to say nothing of two anime DVD’s that I escaped having to blog about ages ago since they weren’t sent to me in time.
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia (aka: Dusk Maiden of Amnesia) was recommended to me on my Facebook page, so when I checked into it, I initially didn’t think it would be something I’d like, but then I remembered Sayo from Negima! and thought, “What the heck — I’ll watch it.”
I figure I’ll slip this one in after I finish A Certain Magical Index II, which I found time to watch during my recent Internet outage (as of this writing, I’ve seen the first five episodes).
This was my favorite show of the season, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I reviewed this some time back myself, and I’m curious to know how it stands up in your own review.
Hopefully, it will be as good as people say. ^_^
While we are on the topic of new series, I’ve noticed that some time ago you just dropped Gate 7 without any mention, unless I overlooked it cause I’m dumb. Clamp hasn’t dropped it (yet( hopefully it won’t(I don’t think parentheses work quite this way but whatever))), though the translations are sometimes a bit slow(the June chapter’s still awaiting scanlation) and scans are absent from some of the more popular manga sites. The manga seems to be going in an interesting direction, though it is obviously very CLAMP-y in both the art and the comprehensibility of the story. The many references to the Sengoku period certainly don’t help in making this series less mind-screwy, and the ambiguity of Hana’s gender keeps on frustrating me.
Technically, I haven’t dropped it. I did stop reading/blogging on a chapter by chapter basis, mainly because the manga can be confusing enough without adaptation issues adding to it. I do have volume 2 of the manga sitting for ages, waiting to be blogged, along with several other manga volumes. ^_^; I need to sit down and blog them all.
Nice choice for your marathon. The series was a surprise favorite of mine from last season, since I did not go into it with high expectations – which made it similar to Kannagi. I even liked the ending, though I know a LOT of people were turned off by it.
Hope you enjoy it.
I guess I didn’t read too much on the reaction of others to Kannagi, but I thought the anime rocked, so much so that I bought the manga…or rather the first three volumes until Bandai took their toys and went home.
The Kannagi anime was a surprise favorite of mine from 2008, and made me get the manga when Bandai released the first three volumes as well. I still enjoy getting out the DVDs and watching it occasionally.
I am still unsure what people who were annoyed with the Tasogare anime ending were expecting, since the manga is still on-going in Japan. I thought it was fine.
Yeah, I thought it was fine too.
It is a real shame about the manga. I really hope Seven Seas (Go Manga) or Yen Press rescue it. I want to read more Kannagi.
OMG you actually took my suggestion and will watch it. THANK YOU! Looking forward to your review of it.
*lol* You’re welcome, and thank you for bringing it to my attention. ^_^ I wish I could watch everything suggested to me. Well, if I win the lottery, I’ll suddenly have the time. ^_~
Oh, forgot to bug ANB again about watching Level-E. It became almost a tradition. ^_^
*lol* And feel free to keep reminding me. ^_^ I may actually get to it one day. ^_^;;;
I can remind you with my every post, but I feared that you might decide to ban me for some unknown (*cough, cough*) reasons.
Btw, since you’re subbing Jormungand, you can try Upotte! manga and/or anime (A.K.A. OVAs). It’s not something special, just the usual mid-school anime, but most of the characters are avatars of guns and act more or less like ones. And the anime gives some details on the guns-girls and their peculiarities. I guess you might like it.
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=8829 (soon the BDs should start coming out so you can try it then). There are some episodes that are almost typical school comedies and there are some episodes which are more action oriented (ie. battles with guns).
The biggest thing for me is always time. I have this insane backlog of anime on DVD, and anime on disc, many of which I’ve had for years and just haven’t been able to touch. π
*sigh* I never did get around to watching this. π
