UQ Holder Chapter 110

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

UQ Holder Chapter 110Karin and Kirie are in the outdoor onsen bath and feeling the effects Touta has had on them when Mizore pulls Touta in, uses a technique to strip him, and tosses him into the bath, where he lands on the two girls. He takes a beating as a result.

Later, Touta is teased about his popularity with the girls when Basago shows up and makes Touta take out all the trash by himself. Touta does this and upon finishing the job, he notices Yukihime, in her Eva form, on the dock. She summons him over, so he goes over to join her. Since her true identity is not a secret, it isn’t a problem that she appears this way.

Eva explains that she did not take Touta in out of obligation to his grandfather, Negi. She apologizes for grounding him to the island as she was being overprotective since people are after Touta and she worries about him. However, she goes ahead and grants him permission to now leave the island and enter the Mahora Tournament.

Touta asks if she’s still in love with his grandfather. After teasing him a bit, she says she is still in love with Negi. With her worst enemy, the Mage of the Beginning, holding Negi captive as the price for saving the world, Eva is not able to move forward until that is resolved, even with Touta. She kisses him on the lips, then encourages him to find another girl. He’s all flustered by this and is apparently ignorant of the effect he’s having on the women around him.

Thoughts/Review:

There are a number of interesting things here, but none regarding the Keitaro accidental groping breasts action that Touta did.

I think we’ll continue to see Kirie and Karin dealing with their feelings for Touta. (Kuroumaru as well.) I’d love to see the team in action working quite well together. In that way, we’d get a true battle harem.

Mizore continues to be around a lot of the action at the inn. With Touta remarking on her strength, it wouldn’t surprise me if we continue to see her outside of inn.  I can’t help but like Mizore and I love the fact that she never gets jealous.

Basago gets a cameo after a lengthy return. I was amused to think how much it must grate him to have to address Touta with the “sama” honorific.

Now that the small stuff is out of the way, let’s get to the really good stuff in the chapter — Eva. Eva’s conversation with Touta works only because she’s in her true form. After all, Touta never fell in love with Eva as Yukihime, but rather he fell for Eva as Kitty. So this is the perfect form for her to be in.

UQ Holder Chapter 110

(As an aside, this does raise the issue of why Eva feels the need to maintain this Yukihime form since everyone knows that Yukihime is Eva. Obviously, from time to time, she feels the need to shed her illusionary form and just be whom she is.)

In many ways, this chapter mostly resolves the Eva x Touta thread. I know some folks will object to that, but while Eva is obviously fond of Touta, she’s still in love with Negi. Her kissing him and encouraging him to move on with one of the girls in his harem, combined with her setting him free from the island is her way of closing the book, at least for now.

I was happy to finally get confirmation that Eva is still in love with Negi.  She had obviously moved on from Touta when she fell for Nagi. We knew she loved Nagi from her Negima. We never knew for sure if she loved Negi or not, but I felt pretty sure she did. I felt that was her main motivation for continuing to help train Negi and help the class. Then once her curse was lifted, she goes around helping him as an active member of Ala Alba. To me, that all strongly suggested she loved Negi.

We now know that rescuing Negi is Eva’s primary focus. It is a shame that the series is slaved to have 100% of things revolve around Touta as it would be cool if we could follow Eva following up on leads for Negi while Touta and his battle babes do their thing. And then on occasion, the two paths cross.

In the end, I enjoyed this chapter a lot as things appear resolved between Eva and Touta for now. When we return in two weeks, I’m thinking Shinobu may get more focus with the Neo Olympics. I hope so.

Well, Makie did say that she wasn’t sure what to think about Eva…

  2. NML says:

The spoilers made me think this chapter would make me have to give up on my Negi X Eva ship.

In reality, it made it stronger than ever.

    • NML says:

Hmm, so the Solar Olympics is in a week. I hope they still go through the preliminaries, the whole point of the preliminaries was to go behind Eva’s back but Touta would probably want to qualify on his own merits instead of having Eva or Kirie pay for him to enter the tournament.

I wonder if we’ll see Kaito. I really want to see him again, especially since his family name hasn’t been revealed and, if he even has one, it’s probably Inugami.

Also, I wonder if we’ll see green-haired swordswoman, vampire kid(unless he’s Basago) and Juzo at the tournament.

      Also, Touta’s sister, remember her?

      • AstroNerdBoy says:

        Also, Touta’s sister, remember her?

Oh, you mean the girl who attacked him?

        • NML says:

Yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing her since we’ll get more info on Touta’s creation.

It was hinted she had a pactio card, which was a copy of Asuna’s.

Also, since the Solar Olympics are next week and the tournament is being held at the same time, looks like I was wrong and the it is 2088 already :L

          • AstroNerdBoy says:

It is hard to keep track of time in this series since there have been jumps and such.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

It is interesting that some people think the chapter makes the Touta x Eva ship stronger and some think it makes the Negi x Eva ship stronger. I’m with you though.

      • NML says:

This arc just made me think that Touta is confusing familial love for romantic love considering how easily he tells all his friends that he loves them.
The only reason he proposed to Eva is because he he feels protective of her after meeting Kitty. At least in my opinion. This was especially backed up by Touta’s and Karin’s conversation last chapter.

Hopefully he can start to move on and acknowledging the other girls(and Kuro’s) attraction to him. Although he is a shonen protagonist, so I shouldn’t hold my breath.

I know a lot of people haven’t enjoyed the Harem arc but between this and the Training arc I feel like Touta has become a much better character.Especially since I found him incredibly annoying for a long time.

          That’s very possible.

          I’m with you here.

  3. Dhdhd says:

Pretty sure its implied that she would be able to move to Touta once they rescued Negi.

So the only 2 ship sailing there is Negi and Touta ship to me.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I don’t know why she’d move to Touta if she loves Negi. Negi would basically have to reject her, and I don’t know why he’d do that.

  4. BFldyq says:

I now ship Eva X Nagi, Eva X Negi and Eva X Touta!

Screw just one, Eva gets her own Harem of those who possess the Springfield blood!

  5. sanchi says:

Awesome chapter. Finally one that moves the story forward, and not a UQ Onsen Manga. We are finding out bit by bit what happened since the end of Negima, and finally that heart to heart talk between Eva and Tōta. Eva didn’t say no to Tōta too. She said she cannot move forward with any relationship till the issue with freeing Negi is done, and where her love interest is also taken. I really liked Eva’s loyalty to Negi. In a way too, she freed him to find another girl, but I don’t think Tōta will seek the other girls, and is blindly loyally focused on Eva. How many naked female bodies has Tōta seen already, and no reaction. The other half is how Negi feels about Eva too — but we don’t know that. I would think Asuna would have a say in that too.

This chapter really pushes my curiosity to want to know more of Eva’s background, and would like to see her as herself and not the older Yukihime image. I hope to see her help Tōta with mastering the Magia Erebea power as he goes into the tournament.

Tōta still has to face his other blonde clone female at the top of the tower — but from the original image, it appears to be already settled, for it seems Tōta will be able to turn her over to his side too at the end, since she is there on the far right side.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

When it comes to other girls, I think Touta will wake up more and more to the notion with his battle harem, especially if he learns Kuroumaru is female.

As to the female opponent, well, she could join the harem too. 😉

  6. NT says:

Then….. Negi ends up appearing as the MotB and becomes a final boss character then Touta would selflessly take negi’s place, and use his own faults to seal the mage of the beginning since he wont be able to use magic while in touta’s body.

Bwahaha! mindless babble before bed XD

  7. andmeuths says:

    Eva loved Negi….

But who was the specific person that Negi loved? It’s an interesting puzzle.

I think that Yukihime in many ways is a performance, that Evangeline puts on. Why? Because to fill the role of the leader of the UQ Holder, or the Guardian of Touta, Evangeline has to take on a social role, that Kitty cannot fundamentally ever fill. It is a signal that Evangeline is doing a “job”, fulfilling a “role”, achieving an “expectation”This is not Kitty the girl, but Yukihime acting the roles as a woman, and a female leader.

In a sense, therefore, when Evangeline takes on the Kitty form that is her real form in front of Touta in this chapter, she takes off all of those social shoes she is wearing, and approaching Touta as a person, as Eva in the purest , least encumbered sense. No mask, no performance, only simple and most possible purest sincerity. No jobs, no roles, no expectations. Just Kitty as she is.

I don’t actually think this chapter fully resolves Eva x Touta. It’s put their relationship on a particular equilibrium for now, I think, but it’s not the permanent equilibrium. Rather, I think this development puts a temporary moratorium on further relationship developments.

Also, I wonder whether Eva explained to Touta off-screen, on the effects he is having on females. I think it actually amuses her instead, and that telling Touta would ruin the fun. On the other hand, I wonder whether Yukihime ever gave Touta the Talk…. I have this amusing image of Eva doing this in Kitty form, and Touta responding with a neutral -” oh I knew this already” look.

Finally, here’s a crack theory. Evangeline kissed Touta, to make a temporary Pactio between her and Touta. The purpose of said pactio is to beef up Touta to some degree by granting him a Pactio-Artifact, allow Eva to keep track on Touta outside the Island if necessary, and make it possible to extract Touta via Pactio-summoning if things really go wrong. Also, by forging a Magister-Minstra relationship, Eva explicitly commits not to disappear on Touta, and defines the extent of their relationship for now in concrete terms.

Evidence against, is that we don’t see the Pactio Circle, or Pactio Card, nor did Eva told Touta she was going to make a pactio, which you’d think is something Eva would do.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Interesting analysis on Eva as Yukihime. Thanks!

Finally, here’s a crack theory. Evangeline kissed Touta, to make a temporary Pactio between her and Touta.

There should have been a pactio card produced, even if a temporary one, but we didn’t see that, as you stated.

  8. magine says:

Why is it that I feel happy and sad at the same time with this chapter?… It is a mixture of emotions.

Lol Mizore, you have no shame. What would your grandma say? XD I have the impression that Vasago doesn’t like Touta much…

“I hereby allow you to leave the island. And you can enter the Mahora Martial Arts Tournament, however, you have to keep yourself safe, that’s my condition”

Wasn’t going Evangeline to fight in the tournament with Fate?
I wanted to see Evangeline and Fate VS Touta and Kuroumaru or Karin…

I have a question. The tournament and the solar olympics, it will be soon ,because nearly a year has passed, Touta’s dream is to go to the tower and be with his friends of the village.

Does it mean when he goes at the tournament will find them? I have fear that the manga ends up after this because I don’t know if the Lifemaker will make an appearance when the tournament is ending (As Touta’s dream will be fulfilled)
I hope isn’t like that. It still have to show up the others characters and It can still have much more story.

I wonder if there is two more to come about Evangeline. The previous chapters were three chapters each one of them. And Where is Chachamaru? XD

Break again? Two weeks? So many breaks, Does it mean is negotiating for an anime maybe?

PS: I didn’t remember about the blonde clone female lol

    • sanchi says:

Chapter’s 69 to 74 – is about that blonde clone that speculation is Tota’s sister.

My bad. Looking back, I am wrong about her being in Tota’s group. Different outfit as in jacket and not a poncho, and different longer hair.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

I have the impression that Vasago doesn’t like Touta much…

      He never has.

As to where the story goes, who can say for sure.

    • Seimei says:

Regarding the life-maker it is implicitly confirmed that he will participate in the tournament (the false “Negi Springfield” is almost confirmed to be him, and Tota’s psycho sister will probably be one of his teammates / subordinates.) Not to worry on that side so. After all one of the main reasons for Akamatsu-sensei writing UQ Holder was to give a conslusion the story about the mage of the beginning, the royal line of Ostia and Springfield clan but with new characters^^. I add that since volume 3, we had VERY numerous references about the Maker, very much more than in Negima .
It made us thus understand that the role of life-maker will be much more importent than in Negima. So there is a strong probabilitée that will not be only a secret boss and a tertiary character, but really the primary antagonnist no worry oiur not it ^^.

Regarding the tournament, it is understood that it will be huge and will gather all-solar system. So do not you attands a small scale tournaments like the first Mahora Tournament or medium-scale as that the tournament of Granicus.

It is likely that all the big names will participate (vampires-Shinso, the mazokus from inverse-Venus, the mage of the begining, the owner of “unique abilities” ect). Maybe even the last three numbers will be recruited during the tournaments. So even if the manga ends after the end of the tournament, we will likely see at least the life-maker and Shinso in action.

And any way, it is likely that there will be a 3rd arc after this tournament. Tota certainly had intended to climb the tower, but now do remember you, that he had an additional objective? “Save the world”. Was admittedly a very vague objective, but nonetheless it is indeed another purpose than just “To sing with his friends from the village in Space at the top of the Tower”. Before Tota overcomes the Mage of the Beginning (the main threat to the world today), the manga will not stop I think.

Add to that Dana still things to learn at Tota, she told herself, hir training program lasts 10 years and actually Tota spent only the first step. The next step, is to learn to quickly defeat (or maybe even, to kill) an immortal.
Personally I see a final between UQ and life-maker in tournaments. The life-maker is defeated in court of the final but not destroyed and he fled after the end of the tournament. Then we have an ellipse of 10 years, then the 3rd and last arc, devoted exclusively to the war against the Maker begins.

  9. Seimei says:

Concretely I think the best hand that history remains focused on Tota, (patient prior to stone me Astro, it is not because I would be a fan of Tota heh?? I’ll explain^^.)

From what I understand you would like that the mage of the beginning would the major enemy while Eva and Tota and his gang have their own reserved antagonniste (Tota’s sister?) was that?

Honestly the idea is not bad in itself but the problem is that if we end up with UQ Holder that separates into two group and each fight a different antagonniste if it can be interesting, it’s true, it could also risking too disperse the action. Besides the main justification for Tota to have the “magic cancel” in the narration, other that the fact he is a clone, of course (to be the subsitute of Asuna to kill the life-maker in this timeline) disappear. So I find preferable that the entire organization of UQ Holder is focused on a single goal and a single ennemy.

After, another solution would have had to do as you say (to separate UQ into two groups and each faces his antagonniste dedicated) but in the end everyone meets for the final battle and Tota and Eva confront the life-maker together. It could be interesting and besides it is not impossible that some things like that happening. Not in the arc tournaments, of course, but in a possible third arc that would be the equivalent of mundus-magicus for UQ Holder.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

Yeah, that’s kinda what I was thinking.

      • sanchi says:

Don’t forget about Fate and his group too.

He’s very much involved, and also has a plan to free Negi and Nagi and needs Tota – as part of his plan. We still have to wait for Tota to at least battle Fate too – to settle that issue with his parent’s death. We may need to see some form of reconciliation with every one before going to save Negi and Nagi. hmm would Karin and Kuromaru be able to work with Chao – that is if he’s still around after not obeying Fate’s order of not touching Tota.

Another possibility is Fate along with Eva and Tota free Negi and Nagi first, and then as you wrote – all of them and everyone else including the descends of class 3A work as one combined force to go after the Mage of the Beginning. That would be a darn powerful group.

It would be cool if Tota can turn his clone sister to his side. I think they would make a good team working together too.

Maybe Negi may have his sights on another girl too – which then leaves Eva X Tota to happen… maybe.

        • AstroNerdBoy says:

          Yeah, you are right.

It would be cool if Tota can turn his clone sister to his side. I think they would make a good team working together too.

For some reason, I can see that happening.

          Negi did have a harem.

      • sanchi says:

I keep thinking of Ikkyuu, ChaChaMaru, and Tsukuyomi as a potential robotic team for some reason too. Probably never happen .. just day dreamin’.

  10. sanchi says:

I keep thinking that the meeting with Eva was planned and Basago was the facilitator to made sure Tota was alone, by giving him the ‘take out the trash’ job since everyone else was busy, so Tota for sure is by himself than just a chance meeting. Eva was true herself and not Yukihime and no one else around on that beach — more so when Senkyokan is really busy with guest, no one is on the beach? No protective guys in black suits, no visitors walking. Nada. Sounds like a set up to me. Kinda a plutonic setting too – on the beach on a wharf, non threatening place and in public.

Eva is also telling him that she sees Tota differently, no longer seeing Tota as a overly protective parent. She also said, that she cannot move forward with her relationship with Tota, so Tota now knows he is a possible candidate for Eva in not so direct words. That rather passionate kiss very much shows how she feels, and also saying it takes much more reason than obligation for her to live with someone for two years and yet give no details on what she means (we can guess though), so yes the fire is there.

She probably knew that at some time Dana was to take Tota to train but didn’t know exactly when, and until then Tota was more vulnerable and less able to defend himself, and had no clue about Eva. Now that Dana has happened, he’s much stronger, and now more current to their relationship, and at least Tota’s fighting skills are even par with Karin. Sparing with Karin for more than 3 hrs!

It would be interesting if there are battles in the tournament with Eva, Fate with his group, Tota, and also with or without his group. I’m thinking Eva will also train with Tota as she did with Negi but showing Tota more about his Magia Erebea power, and making a more powerful super Tota.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

If Eva was the one to do it, perhaps. However, she could have just summoned him herself. But, it could have been coincidence. Hard to say for sure.

It would be interesting if there are battles in the tournament with Eva, Fate with his group, Tota, and also with or without his group.

I’m still not sure how much tournament we are going to get.

  11. arimareiji says:

This chapter actually reminded me quite a bit of Rocky Horror Picture Show, strange as that might sound. (^_~) Rocky Horror spoilers ahead, inasmuch as you can spoil a 40-year old movie that most people have already seen if they’re ever going to see. Brief explanation*, if needed.

    1) Before bringing Rocky to life, Frankie hams up an obviously-false claim that “it took a small accident… an ACCIDENT!” to find the “spark of life”.
    2) When Eddie breaks out of the freezer, his head is blatantly and badly stitched back together.
    3) Columbia accuses Frankie of throwing Eddie aside “like an old overcoat for Rocky”.
    4) Frankie tosses off a comment that he may have “made a mistake, splitting his brain between the two of them”.

To me it feels like Sensei wanted to bring UQ Holder to life on its own, with only trace elements of Negima. And this feels less like a planned development than it feels like he’s now willing to settle for grafting a piece of Negima‘s brain.

Sensei did kinda toss aside Negima and then stuck it in the freezer. Hopefully he isn’t now going to finish killing it with a pickax… but I may start calling Touta the Mighty “Rocky” nonetheless. I think it’s well-deserved for a few reasons, not the least of which is that people of all genders are attracted to him and no one’s quite sure why. (^_~)

    * – Rocky Horror is an over-the-top parody of 60’s/70’s sci-fi and fanservicey fare, with a large dash of Frankenstein’s Monster. “Dr. Frank N. Furter” (Frankie) is a mad sex-obsessed transvestite scientist who brings “Rocky Horror” to life as a muscle-bound plaything. “Eddie” is a previous plaything who breaks out of a freezer, only to be murdered by Frankie out of jealousy over Rocky.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

This chapter actually reminded me quite a bit of Rocky Horror Picture Show, strange as that might sound.

      I didn’t like that movie.

At the start, I believed UQ Holder to be just the continuation of Negima, sans a lot of the baggage (all of the girls in the class). So Touta had to become Negi to continue the story. To a degree, I think this is still the case, but it is clouded by the fact that I also think Sensei wants to follow Mashima-sensei’s (Fairy Tail) more casual story approach that doesn’t worry so much about an overall story arc.

  12. mattcgw says:

So Akamatsu is playing up the Eva route for both his protagonists?
I’m deeply conflicted about this harem content, I loved it in ‘The world god only knows’ yet have an incredible dislike for it in ‘UQ Holder’.
I’m going to pin on the page count for now.

    • Seimei says:

The harem arc is very probably fended. The tournamant/Olympic Games arcs will probably begins in chap 111. But I agreements with you on this point, this harem arch was hard to bear for me. I already disliked the romance of Negima, at the time, then it is obvious that I was not going to like the harem in UQ Holder lol ^^.

But interresting things will finally start, look forward to returning in the underground arena or start Mahora tournaments on the Tour. I also hope soon to discover the last three “numbers” of UQ. ^^

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

So Akamatsu is playing up the Eva route for both his protagonists?

I’m not sure if he is or not. Really hard to tell since Akamatsu-sensei appears to be trying not to be predictable.

  13. Rob C. says:

I have couple things on my mind i’d like air out.

This chapter has some interesting plot points as well as funny stuff going on.

Silly Stuff – Karin is now a confirmed ultra-super Tsundere with hankering for Touta and is in total denial of that, while maintaining the appearance of her still pawing for kitty for some strange reason. Another thing, The missing story WHY and HOW Mizore came to the Inn and off-stage conversation that lead to her getting employed at the Inn Resort has yet to be fleshed out. Which i find little bit annoying. Her fascination with Touta on verge of not making alot sense other thank possibility of her grandmother influence on her.

Serious Stuff – OK. I’d like point out something. WAY back near the end of original run of Negi (Volume 37 or 38), Eva’s (dare i say this) alternated self arrives from previous timeline. She the one with Chaos who brought back Asuna Kagurazaka back from the future. Thus creating alternate reality where, she returns to the past verse the original prime universe where she not seen again in the past. The future Eva (i guess Eva 1) is asked what she going to do, she said she going look for alternate reality where Nagi is available. Note: She from the FUTURE. She still into Nagi. That be said, Eva 1 didn’t fall in love with him unlike UQ Holder’s version. This is the future where EVA 2 (we assume current Eva aka Kitty) some how was swayed by Negi some how. (Where I’m going with this) I know this is a fiction, we’ve called that there been retroconned done (thou with alternate futures/parallel worlds, there no retro cons, just different reality). I think this sign of a alternate future at work.

Anyways, Story nice, the chapter touching, now we can FINALLY get on with the story to do some fighting in the arena. Side arc was interesting, but it’s hard to say what main plot is going. Will Touta rescue his grandfather, stop his alleged terrorist sister from bombing the city? Will he able to resist being kidnapped by The Mage of the Beginning? Who knows. I think Negi got the deathflag once Eva said she still loves him, but that’s just my gut manga/otaku gut feelings given how many twists come up.

    • AstroNerdBoy says:

HOW Mizore even got into the inn and conversation that lead to her getting employed at the Inn Resort has yet to be fleshed out. Which i find little bit annoying.

That’s part of the reason why I was hoping we’d see a meeting between Ayaka, Chachamaru, and Eva. But we didn’t get that, which was terrible.

  14. sanchi says:

” this does raise the issue of why Eva feels the need to maintain this Yukihime form since everyone knows that Yukihime is Eva ”

Taking a blind idea at this… Could it be more of a cultural age issue?

Eva would command a better ‘presence’ of authority (or look like she knows what she is doing ) by looking older and wiser as a young professional ADULT image in her 30s, to maintain a better control and command of her organization – of Senkyokan and UQ, and the staff.

Her actual younger physical self image of a teenager of 16-18, and sometimes even more as a girl, may cause many people to question or disbelieve her ability, leadership, and power because she isn’t showing her true age. I’ve seen it happen to some that look really young as in their 20s and are in their 30s-40s. (For girls with makeup its even easier for some.) More so if they are doctors or other high-pay professions, many still question their ability by how young they look…as in a intern or straight out of college, when that person has had 10+ yrs of being a professional.

Same thing for Kirie — initially on her first appearance she was looked at as a naive, shy, and spoiled brat, and a really young kid, hiding behind Ikkyuu when Tota first met her. In reality she’s another that doesn’t age and is much older and smarter than she looks. If Kirie used the same magic as Eva on herself and showed herself as a woman in her 30s, I think she would look very attractive, and freak out the others, including Tota.

    • Seimei says:

It is Very possible, a similar idea was used by Ygdrasill antagonist Mythos Tales of Symphonia. He explicitly said that if he took an adult form (although his true form is that of a young boy, even if he is aged 4000 years) was to be more credible to his subordinates. Because, even if they all know that beautiful 4000 years, the appearance anyway plays a pretty big role despite all that can be said. Is probably the same for Eva

Taking a blind idea at this… Could it be more of a cultural age issue?

That’s also a possibility. Thinking back to Negima, Eva did have an adult form there and this was were she was mostly known as evil. It was implied (for whatever that’s worth) that Nagi may not have initially realized that Eva in her true form was the same as the notorious Eva in adult form.

Well, after so long I reached this chapter. I gonna say one thing: this chapter made the whole lot of 109 preceding chapters worth. If Negi is alive I can’t see now another pairing of him other than Eva. And Touta is like a son to her in my eyes.

At the very beginning I was hoping for this to be an alternate universe mixing all the works of Akamatsu. After several chapters it was clear that it was an alternate future of Negima, maybe the one with Asuna trapped as a “pilar”. If that is the case, It’s close the time she wakes up?…. If so…. Everything is going to disappear and change into a “good future” (like in Back to the future)?

Maybe the whole manga will be both an alternate future and a proper sequel. As the power of the Mage of the Beginning could make the time/space overlap and mix things at the end: Negima has a proper conclusion, the world is not so dystopian and Touta and friends still exist (and what of Chao Lingshen?).

This chapter make all the former blabbering present again in my mind.

As for the upcoming “tournament” I bet on seeing a very vengeful ChaChaZero (Abandoned in the prologue by Eva).

PD: I still expect my flying turtles!!

I can understand where you are coming from for Chachazero. I thought that too, but that was one interpretation, and Akamatsu-sensei has a already established track record of being vague on important information. Eva’s monologue on those frames helps a bit:

“No, even before that you’ll grow tired of the things you loved. Devotion and attachment become impossible. You’ll rapidly forget just about everything.”

Another possibility is Eva let Chachazero go on her own way in a nice way too. Eva said she was a very good puppetmaster. Then she changed and began forgetting everything. In the last chapter Eva also says she gets attached easily too. One can think she moved on with her life, and at first ok with Chachazero, then pursuing Nagi first, and then later following Negi, and both eventually became impossible for her to be with on her own. For me that painted a very lonely melancholic Eva.

Seems Eva didn’t forget Tota, and his advice to be who she became, and also was no longer alone in the next frame. (I also just noticed Negi’s back in the group school pic, and he’s not in the next one showing the class, with less girls, and as older women (not in school uniforms)).

Chachazero apparently ends up with Ayaka and is taking care of her in her old age. Chachazero didn’t appear angry when they arrived at Senkyokan with Mizore too, and didn’t get any negative impression of anger or vengeance.

Showing a meeting with Eva, Ayaka, and Chachazero SHOULD have happened as Astro was saying!!! I would have enjoyed seeing Eva winding up Chachaozero for old times sake. I think that was some type of strategy meeting that will be revealed later.

I’m with ya. I’ve long thought that Eva might have been the one in Negi’s heart at the end of Negima (I don’t think I thought that initially, but after UQH, I changed my mind.) And then throughout UQH, I became convinced Eva fell in love with Negi, otherwise she wouldn’t have been an active member of Ala Alba, rather than a passive member as she was when the group was first formed.

As for the upcoming “tournament” I bet on seeing a very vengeful ChaChaZero (Abandoned in the prologue by Eva).

Chachazero being left behind was such a horrible decision in my opinion.

What’s weird is that Chaos Lingshen maybe the “Another” cloned version of Negi like Touta. She could be, but obviously a non-super powered type. Just has brains verses super-uber powers. Is she earlier clone? She from Mars, does that mean so isn’t Touta or he later version made on Earth? There a lot questions but, will we get good answers when time finally comes….i don’t know. It’s been said above, this maybe not be a “strict” plot manga.

I haven’t bothered to look at the timelines (and someone who is better versed on this can correct me), but I suddenly had a vision of Chao being Touta’s child. *lol*
