Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

Tsukasa asks Nasa if he loves her. He’s puzzled by this, but confirms his love. However, he becomes concerned when it appears she does not believe him. As such, he consults with Kaname. Nasa is stunned to learn that a single word can mean different things to men and women.

She likens his situation to that of having a cat. If the loving cat comes up purring, one would likely pet and pamper the cat. But when loving Tsukasa came up and asked about his love, Nasa was nonchalant. With that, Kaname goes off on Nasa. She tells him he needs to spoil Tsukasa until she’s satisfied.

Meanwhile, Tsukasa is reading an online article about asking your man “do you love me”. She’s a little concerned about annoying Nasa, but she wants to be swooned by him. Nasa comes home and immediately starts sweet talking her.

Relationship Work

The great thing about this chapter is that it actually shows how a relationship can be a lot of work. Throughout the series, Nasa has repeatedly displayed and spoken his love for Tsukasa. So it is understandable for him to think, “Why would she ask if I love her?”

Despite the modern push to state men and woman are the same, Hata-sensei is very correct to point out the truth. Men and women are very different in more than just biology. Men tend to be more simplistic. Women are more complex. Thus as Kaname stated, a word could mean one thing to a girl and another to a guy.

My Own Experience

Indeed, I recall when I finally got a hot babe I was interested in to go on a proper date with me. We hung out a lot and were good friends. So I considered it a major victory to do the whole proper date thing. For me, it was an awesome date. But when we got home to the dorms, she did something she NEVER did before–she didn’t invite me in. And then she refused to talk to me for days.

Naturally, I was miserable because of this. I couldn’t sleep and ended up going to early morning chow. To my shock, she was there too, looking as rough as I was. We talked and it turns out that while we were at dinner, I made some comment that was completely innocuous to me. But she was highly offended by this.

However, in a typical woman fashion, she didn’t tell me what I’d done wrong when I did it. I was just supposed to know I’d done wrong. And even at our breakfast talk that went on for hours, it took some effort on my part to get her to even tell me what my “sin” was. And when I heard it, I was incredulous. When I explained my thinking at the time of making the remark, she decided to forgive me. We remain good friends to this day, but just that one thing killed me as a romantic partner in her mind.

So yeah, one word can make or break things with a girl.
