AstroNerdBoy Chatting Up Some Anime Talk!
Hey gang! I’ve known Western Otaku for over a decade now, going back to our time on the old FUNimation forums. He has a Twitch channel where he sometimes talks anime, and sometimes does gaming. We discussed doing some kind of collaboration and that came together Sunday evening (20191215) on his Twitch channel. We thought we’d get an hour out of it, maybe a little more. As you see, it went on quite a bit longer. 😅
Western Otaku gave me permission to record my own version of the show, which I’ve uploaded to my YouTube channel. I think it works well as a podcast recording. Take a listen.

Due to the positive response of this first collaboration, we will probably do more of these in the future. It was a ton of fun. Since, I’ve noticed a few other things that bode ill for anything but Japan’s Official Permission websites. Perhaps the clearest is this godawful-long We’re So Sorry wrt taking down Manga Rock. Save ten minutes of your life, and do a find-on-page for Convert free scan readers at https://mrcomics.com/.
Looks like “Cool Japan” is making its move, and working hard towards plausible deniability. But still pretty dang obvious, and imo probably carving up the golden goose.
Your mileage may vary on the stupid artificial barriers created by the No Gaijin Partnerships and Profit Or Perish factions, wrt titles that they’re willing to market. But with respect to the vast majority of titles that they’d never try to market, but will hunt down and DMCA if fans translate them… I’ll defer to the wisdom of Fluttershy in this GIF.
