Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

At dinner, Nasa asks Tsukasa about giving romantic advice. Nasa’s problem is that he just says what’s on his mind if he likes something. As such, he doesn’t understand other people’s hesitation. Tsukasa informs her husband that he has a strong personality. However, other folks are not so strong.

Therefore, Tsukasa lets him know that romance requires strategy and intelligence gathering. Nasa believes Tsukasa’s notion of gathering intel is akin to being a stalker. However, she rejects this, stating that when a cute high school girl does this, it is an act of pure love.

Sometime later, Ginga is at the bathhouse telling Tsukasa and Aya that he has felt observed of late. Tsukasa’s advice is to show no mercy to the stalker, even if it is a cute, high school girl. Aya believes that Ginga has simply misunderstood things. She believes no girl would be interested in a guy like Ginga. Ginga is insulted, so he invites Aya to come with him. She agrees.

Meanwhile, Nasa attempts to advise Shirogane, based on Tsukasa’s advice. She suggests they hide along the route her intended takes on a daily basis. At the same time, Aya and Ginga are on what looks like a date, having stopped for crepes and such. They pass near Shirogane and Nasa’s hiding place. Ginga is Shirogane’s crush.

Thoughts/Review:

It is never easy to predict where Hata-sensei will take a story. But with the start of Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 116, I kinda had a notion of how things would go for this chapter.

Love Triangle…of Sorts

At the end of the previous chapter, it didn’t even occur to me that Shirogane might have a thing for Ginga. However, in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 116, as soon as the first page hit, Hata-sensei made it pretty clear that Shirogane has a crush on Ginga. After that, the chapter became a predictable but fun ride.

The hilarity arose from Tsukasa’s conflicting advice. On one hand, she tells Nasa that a cute high school girl “stalking” a boy isn’t stalking. Instead it is an act of pure love. On the other hand, she tells Ginga that even if it is a cute high school girl stalking him, said girl needs to be taught a lesson. I don’t know if she’s purposely stirring the pot or not, but it made me chuckle.

Ever since Aya and Ginga had their accidental, naked introduction, Aya hasn’t thought much of Ginga. And yet she readily agreed to go out with him to prove he was misunderstanding things. So in essence, they had a date of sorts. And then Shirogane has her crush on Ginga and is shocked (with Nasa) to see Aya and Ginga on an apparent date.

Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 116

I have no idea where Hata-sensei will go from here. However, it should be fun.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 116 was a fun chapter. I like finally seeing Aya and Ginga interact. Adding Shirogane into the mix for a possible love triangle was a fun bonus.

“It’s not stalking, it’s pure love” seems to be taken from Kumeta Koji’s Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, where Itoshiki’s stalker Matoi tells him exactly that. Both authors have already referenced each other so this isn’t exactly a surprise.
