Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 94 Manga Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Selene informs Elefseria and Team Natsu (with Laxus and Gajeel) that she has taken over Diabolos. Returning to human form, Selene wants the location of a human weapon Elefseria is unaware of, obtainable via his heart. She sends Elefseria to an alternate realm for “safekeeping,” then announces that she’s going to have the seven Fairy Tail members battle the seven Diabolos members. Selene promises to fight Fairy Tail if they return with Elefseria’s heart.

After laying down her rules for the contest, Selene teleports them into the labyrinth. She then opens an observation portal so that she and the crow Shade can watch. Gajeel finds himself teamed with Charle (Carla). Wendy gets teamed with Lily. Erza and Gray are teamed together. Natsu and Happy find Lucy literally stuck in a wall.

After having a long laugh at Lucy’s expense, Natsu tries to smash the wall but can’t. The child Diabolos member, Haku (the White-Tiger Dragon) shows up and offers to help. He turns Lucy into a stitched plushie.

Thoughts/Review:

For some reason, I didn’t think Selene would just come right out and announce that she’d taken over Diabolos. Yet that’s what she did in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 94. For some reason, I figured she’d keep Team Natsu in the dark and just send them into the dungeon to fight Diabolos for her own amusement. Then while in the labyrinth, Team Natsu would learn the details of Selene’s takeover of their guild. That said, the truth is out there.

That aside, Selene covers her bases to protect herself and her interests if Fairy Tail should win. There’s ZERO chance that Fairy Tail kill all of Diabolos. In fact, despite “killing” the undead Diabolos member, I don’t think Fairy Tail kills anyone. That’s because I think Diabolos aren’t going anywhere after all this time. But we’ll see what happens.

As is typical of this series (and the anime was quite faithful to the manga, but I never bothered to see how much variance, if any of significance, was done), Team Natsu gets broken up into groups of two. I presume Laxus would have been Lucy’s partner, since he was the only one not seen in the labyrinth.

Finally, Haku turning Lucy into a plushie reminded me of the Prisma Illya episode where Illya gets turned into a plushie. So I guess Natsu has to give the kid Haku a beating to restore Lucy. Well, after Haku smacks Natsu around for a bit.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 94 continues to set the stage for the team battles for Team Natsu (plus Laxus and Gajeel) and Diabolos.
